We were at the Florida game on Sunday, sitting 5 rows up to the right of the Panthers' net. The steal and goal were right in front of us. It was unbelievable... The kid is amazing.
I remember Gretzky's first year. I think we are witnessing another Great One. I hope nothing bad happens to him and that he can realize his full potential.

I think Connor Bedard isn't living up to all the hype he's getting right now. Rookies normally come firing out on all cylinders in their first year, just like Gretzky, Lemieux, Selanne, etc. By now, the Hawks should at least be in the 2nd wildcard spot because of him. But right now, he's just not producing. They're dead last in their division because of his lack of productivity AND also because of coach Luke Richardson. I'm afraid he's not coaching at the level he should be. As a big Hawks fan, these are the 2 major areas that need massive improvement.
Except I do, in fact. Watched this kid all through the minors, floating and padding his stats at the expense of his team. He did the same thing in the World Juniors. For every goal he scored he had just as many scored against him while he was floating around on the ice. He's a liability, but the NHL likes him because they like marketing egomaniacs. @@thatoneguy9666
A lot of people are leaving out on his first goal in Tampa he out positioned Victor Headman. That’s 6 foot 7 inch 240 pound Victor Headman. Size is not going to be an issue for this kid
The haters kill me. You can always tell someone who knows nothing about hockey when they point to Bedard’s stature. Size doesn’t mean nearly as much as people think it does. He’s below league average, but still well above the smallest who’ve succeeded in the NHL. They look at other things too, like how strong is he. You will likely see him throw more hits than any of the generational players he’s been compared to. He does have a mean streak, which I love. Doug Gilmour was an inch taller and 10lbs lighter, played in a much rougher NHL, and earned the nickname “Killer”, just to put it into perspective. When a player is truly at risk of being too small, they are referring to his level of frailty, and lack of ability to evade contact. Bedard is none of that, so people…quit barking about his size. As for his skills-again-people talk about his release all the time, including news people. But have you actually spent quality time observing him on ice, in all situations? Hockey is about far more than being in the camera when a goal goes in. The more you know the more you see. He may have certain skills that draw a spectacle, but IMO it’s his creative IQ which is uniquely special, and you probably won’t recognize it for a couple more years when all the news idiots are drawing attention to it. And for anyone still wondering if he’ll be good or not, did you not watch the world juniors last year? That kind of performance has actually never been seen at that tournament. Not even by Gretz himself. Does this not make you think that he just might be what every person in the professional hockey world thinks he is? Do you think every person in the professional hockey world is making an embarrassing mistake? Like they know their jobs pretty well.
"Comparable with Auston Matthews" Matthews wishes he'd have a shot like Bedard does. Watched players for 4 decades and i've NEVER seen any shot like Bedards. Only Mario Lemieux had a booming wrister like Bedard does. And even he isn't on Bedard's level in shot quickness. And it's not just about the sheer power of it. It's the deceptive nature. He can get it off his stick faster than anyone i've ever seen. It's just on his stick and then in a fraction of a second it's gone. He's gonna terrorize goalies in the league for 15 years plus...
His skills are simply amazing. I've never seen someone so skilled this early on his rookie season. You know that someone is special when they're doing things that frankly, you haven't seen before rookie season. That stick check, pass fake and tight angled goal in 1 second was ridiculous.
Haha. I'm an NBA fan too (die hard Jordan fan back in the day and from Chicago). It's hard to compare Bedard... imagine someone who comes into the NBA with more skills than anyone prior rookie season other than Michael Jordan but not as big as the typical hockey player so needs those skills. I suppose it's a bit like Steph Curry mixed with a playmaker. @@deshundillard1337
Can you imagine what he will do once he understands how board play differs at this level? It is his one true weakness. But have you heard about how he is always practicing? Seriously...he was made for this game
I'm a lifelong (63 years) Blackhawks' fan. I told my 4 children to enjoy the incredible success during the winning of three Stanley Cups as it's not "normal". I was 1 year old when they won prior to the 21st century (for some reason, I don't remember any of the 1961 Cup). We surrounded the radio during the 1970s when the Hawks blew a lead in the Stanley Cup Finals vs Montreal. But that "rug pull" was just a part of being a Hawks' fan until this century. Now Bedard has a chance to return the Hawks to their recent greatness. In the meantime I'll just enjoy watching Bedard play. He's amazing. 18 years old? That's nuts.
He was practicing with pros for a few years before he was even drafted. Wowing pro players. He is who I thought he is. Not sure why others would think he was not as advertised. He has proven himself so many times. Who could doubt the talent.
As a hawks fan I watched so much and read so much about this kid for the last few years and I’ve been around long enough to know who’s going to live up to the hype and who won’t. I knew and could tell he was going to be different but I’m still in disbelief with how good he actually is for how young he is.
Still though practice and in game with that crowd are way different. Many cant handle that pressure. The media has put a load of pressure on this kid and hes just making shit look like business as usual.. we knew he would be good anyone with any hockey experience knew that but its awesome to see him doing so good this soon.
I'm just mad my team didn't get him. So I'm going through a "fuck that guy" phase. I'll come around. Give it a season or two. PS. The Flyers still suck, and it makes me sick.
Not better than I thought. This future Hall of Famer will go down as one of the greatest of all time when all is said and done. So smart on the ice. Wait till he’s in his 20s.
as a hawks fan seeing such talent come back after the “glory days” seemed to fade away. glazing to a minimum lol he reminds me almost of a cocky, stronger patrick kane. needless to say i’m very excited for the future.
For the past 12 months at least, people been acting as though he's the second coming of Christ... so, no, I don't think he's better than we thought. But he's living up to some insane hype that's been swirling around him so far.
This kids going to score 80 plus if he gets to play with 2 top tier forwards, every time the pucks on his stick he's dangerous, no other player is more dangerous than bedard in regards to shooting accuracy.
i guess we got crosby and ovi all over again with the connors, gonna be tough to have a career like crosby's i would consider crosby the best all around player ever, mcdavid is the best offensive player with the great one and ovi the best goal scorer
I was wrong about this guy,I thought it was way to much hype!Get him some more help,is he only a goal scorer, let’s see how he does with assists! If he stays healthy, watch out!Old,Old.Old,6 team Chicago Blackhawk FAN!!!
I think that connor bedard its gonna be as good as mcdavid no question about that he is just totaly unbelivebel 2 look at what an amazing ishockey player TOTALY UNBELIVEBEL and he is just 18 years old just imagine how good he gonna be when he have played like 2-3 years in nhl Then he gonna be The best player in nhl alredy when he is just 20 years old do its gonna be 2 connor in nhl ho gonna be The 2 best player in The hole world
Wonder if there would be this much hype if he went to Columbus, like he probably should have... but the NHL would never have let that happen. Just like they would have never let McDavid go to Buffalo. I'm not seeing it, as a life long hockey fan, he looks like he'll just be a good player. Not seeing Gretzky or Mcdavid skills out of him.
Hes keeping his points the same as when he was in the lower leagues. Hes averaging a point a game his average was about that before. Thats enough said when u can come to the nhl and his average doesnt decline. Thats rare
@@KenMastersxtc ya u have a point but i think the league and fans have got much more used to smaller guys since martin st Louis shattered that stupid thought that u can be too small just off ur height. I read st Louis legs were fuckin massive with muscle. Ive played with many small guys that could take the body better then the big guys. Fuckin lay people out flat amazing hits. And no homo but they went in the dressing room to bedard the other day and he had his shirt off the kids got more muscle on him then i would have thought . Hes in great shape. Young and full of energy hes ganna kill it. And even if he isnt the next great he will still be fun to watch and great on any team hes on but hes got potential to be something special for sure. If he can avoid injuries and stay healthy for a long career like ovi and Crosby have had he will be up there with them in points im sure
Bedard is quite at home in the slot. Great stealth coming to the slot wide open & unleashing a very accurate hard wrist shot. That's it. It may be enough his first year. 40 goals ? Maybe. Just as likely he could wind up -40. He is a defensive liability. He has below average speed. Terrible in his own defensive zone. Looks lost. That is the honest professional assessment of the 18 year old rookie.
He is HIM!

Bedard an mcdavid same team
His short side shelf goal was a no look pretend pass to the slot ... Look at the video from another angle
"Comparable with Auston Matthews"
Matthews wishes he'd have a shot like Bedard does.
That stick check, pass fake and tight angled goal in 1 second was ridiculous.
help, what does all this mean in basketball terms?? who this compares too?
@@deshundillard1337when it comes to hype I guess you could say he is almost Wemby levels? Idk it could be a stretch
@@MrPallable thats perfect i think

"Connor Bedard is REALLY good at hockey"
Can you imagine what he will do once he understands how board play differs at this level? It is his one true weakness. But have you heard about how he is always practicing? Seriously...he was made for this game
'Proud' must be the most misused word in English.
What a great thing! Who wouldn't want to play for an original 6. Hawks rock!
That's nuts.
wait till he gets older, and used to the physicality
Imagine when he peaks at 24-26 years old.
@@BAYKON8R Right. He still has the body of a teen going against adult men. That's what makes his early success even more amazing.
He’s him
What about paval mintukov?
Can you do a Vid on him
I will definitely consider it! I have some other ideas first 🙂
It’s the jealous people that thinks he is not good enough to play in NHL.
The media has put a load of pressure on this kid and hes just making shit look like business as usual.. we knew he would be good anyone with any hockey experience knew that but its awesome to see him doing so good this soon.
he’s definitely being advertised alright, they capitalized on the mistake they made with McDavid and hyped him up as much as possible
I'm just mad my team didn't get him. So I'm going through a "fuck that guy" phase. I'll come around. Give it a season or two. PS. The Flyers still suck, and it makes me sick.
The Bedard glazing is pretty bad tho 😂😂😂
For someone who doesn’t care about hockey I been keeping An eye on Bernard bro is special
video editing is awesome, if you really want to grow your channel invest in audio editing!
Not better than I thought. This future Hall of Famer will go down as one of the greatest of all time when all is said and done. So smart on the ice.
Wait till he’s in his 20s.
No he's not better than you thought, they knew just how good he was, wanna give this 18 year old boy some time!? Jesus christ...
His celebrations are cold af
Knew how good he has been since juniors. If he can stay healthy kids gonna shit all over the league
The "health" aspect is always a concern. Esp when adult men want to teach a young guy (a teen after all) a "lesson" in the physical nature of the NHL.
The players above him in the goal count have all played over 400 career games. ponder that!
as a hawks fan seeing such talent come back after the “glory days” seemed to fade away. glazing to a minimum lol he reminds me almost of a cocky, stronger patrick kane. needless to say i’m very excited for the future.
This guy is unbelievable, it's amazing to watch him play, don't stop only go forward
Nah, better than YOU thought. He’s about what I expected.
For the past 12 months at least, people been acting as though he's the second coming of Christ... so, no, I don't think he's better than we thought. But he's living up to some insane hype that's been swirling around him so far.
Why’s his Bucky so high lol
This kid is the next full decade phenomenon that will be hitting 100 pts and up unequivocally..
Trust
Yooo dude can u make a vid like this for Mathew knies like the same and the same amount of glazing too😂🎉
guys gonna score 50.
Great video man you really know your stuff! Keep it up ill be here waiting for the next one haha
Thank You!
After the big cover up in Chicago they get rewarded with a generational talent, nice job Gary!
weep
cope and seethe
Where is the Michigan
I think that connor bedard its gonna be as good as mcdavid no question about that he is just totaly unbelivebel 2 look at what an amazing ishockey player TOTALY UNBELIVEBEL and he is just 18 years old just imagine how good he gonna be when he have played like 2-3 years in nhl Then he gonna be The best player in nhl alredy when he is just 20 years old do its gonna be 2 connor in nhl ho gonna be The 2 best player in The hole world
Who did Crosby lose the Calder to
Ovi
@@willemrabourn damn😂
Love the commentary you provide; it deserves to be made via a better quality mic, though
The video is good I think there are some awkward cuts in your recording that could elevate your commentary but still very nice
Also Bedard is a beast
Thx for the feedback 🙏
Love the kid! Enjoy Chicago
And no one saw this coming. That's what's got me stumped.
What’s the name of that Kanye song in the background??
Yikes
Hockey is going to be demolished because of no checking league.
Hes keeping his points the same as when he was in the lower leagues. Hes averaging a point a game his average was about that before. Thats enough said when u can come to the nhl and his average doesnt decline. Thats rare
he's adjusted so quickly. let's be real though, if he was 6'2", nobody would be surprised in the least.
