    This video showed up in recommendations just in time. I've ordered my level 2 kit, a LOC Doorknob, and would like to use this technique on it. Do you recommend a particular weight of fiberglass?

      From Soller they really only have 'standard' and 'heavy' weight cloth, I would recommend the standard and seems more than sufficient!

    How do you get the mylar heat shrink I dont see it on the web site?

    Did you have any concerns about the shrinking of the wrap deforming the tube between the supporting rings? IOW can the wrap draw down with enough force to reduce the dia. in the middle?

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  10 месяцев назад +1

      No concerns, it doesnt pull that tight, just enough to keep pressure on the glass to the airframe

      @@almostspace123 Now you tell me ;-) Just talked to John at Soller, he said the same thing.

    Can you wrap multiple times over top of the previous fiberglass wrap? Would it all be done at once or in various steps?

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  7 месяцев назад +2

      You can definitely do that, i would recommend doing the layers all at the same time if you are wanting more than one, but certainty can sand and do them separately

    Are there any seam lines at all, from heat shrink or glass sleeve? or would you consider this perfectly round?

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  8 дней назад

      Perfectly round! No seam lines at all :)

    Thanks for this! Two questions... What ratio of resin to hardener are you using for the West Systems, and what is the grams of epoxy to grams of fiberglass that you are using?

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  2 года назад

      West systems 5:1, and unfortunately i didnt capture what my total resin weight was, over the years i have just gotten better at 'eyeballing'

    Thanks for this! How would you approach glassing the fins? Strip by strip of fiberglass or with this method?

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  2 года назад +2

      You wouldnt want to use this stuff for glassing the fins, I suppose you could, but best to get plain cloth, and make a template to cut some fiberglass cloth that spans from one fin tip, over the airframe, and to the other fin tip :).

    Thanks for the video!
    And i have some quick question..
    Is it okay to use 205 Hardner?
    (I heard that the only diffrence between 206 and 205 is the hardening time..)

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  Месяц назад +1

      You can, i recommend slow slow slow hardner though

    Do you need to first lightly sand the shrink wrap for primer adhesion?

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  Год назад

      No need! It gets peeled off afterwards, no prep needed 👍

    quick question would I order the 6" for a tube at 7.5"???

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  Год назад +2

      What size airframe are you trying to wrap? Take a look at the min and max diameter sizing on their site, I try and get closer to the max diameter that the project will fit in to keep things snug.

    • @almostspace123
      @almostspace123  Год назад +1

      Nose cone was not glassed, a Loc precision cone was used on this project

    • @tikidrummerpoi
      @tikidrummerpoi Год назад

      @@almostspace123 so, is there any kind of difference in diameter of
      The body to nose cone after body has been glassed?
