Ristopalx NINE INCH FUCKING NAILS!!!!
I love you Trent! This song reminds of Year Zero, it's great.
Let's get this on #1 trending people!!
Hell yeah !!
AMEN
Reznor's been killin' it for DECADES!
- Jack hammer beat
- Random percussion
- Weird guitar
- Groovy synths
- Sexy vocals
Everything I want in a Nine Inch Nails song.
Same. 🤘
Tambourine
So true
Couldn't have put it better myself 🙂
Plus Jeff Minter
I don't know if Mr. Reznor gonna read this, but i just wanted to say that i'm from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and Nine Inch Nails is my favorite band, i love all work you ever done, and i wanted to say Thank you, Mr. Reznor for everything you did, you've changed my life!
Oleg Rudy yeah he called me and told me to tell you he doesn't give a shit. It sounded like he was in a restaurant or something so I may have misheard him.
oh, you such a cynical person, that's so outstanding and original
odd766 Well that's not very nice
why be such a douche lol
Well, I usually am not the kind of person who will talk about his private life but I actually was at the restaurant eating ham and eggs with Trent who happens to be a long time friend of mine, I actually wrote most of his songs but I gave them away so he could live his dream of being a rock star, and I remember, just as the waitress was about to bring us some bacon, he actually said "odd766, you're a piece of shit" and then he hung up on your sorry ass.
I asked Llamasoft how this collaboration started and here was their response:
"Yes, he contacted me to ask if I'd be interested in his using Polybius for a video and if I could do some custom work on it to add song lyrics. I was only too pleased to do so. Trent and his people were absolutely great to work with. Very happy with the result."
Didn't think I could love this video any more than I already did
Interesting
That's awesome
Pretty awesome, love NIN and love Polybius.

superpenguin77664 Thats what im saying
superpenguin77664 yeah something besides hip hop. About time!!
I'm 30 years old. I first heard nine inch nails in 1996 at the age of nine " I had a cool dad" he had the downward spiral album and used to blast it in his basement apartment. I can't believe I'm over 30, being nostalgic over a band my now 55 year old father exposed me to over 20 years ago. And I still love this band
Kudos for your dad's great taste in music !
Your dad rocks! And NIN’s music is timeless.
That’s pretty cool 😎 man. I first heard NIN back in 1989 when I just turned 10. The Head Like A Hole video played on MuchMusic 🎶 which was like the original MTV up here in Canada 🇨🇦 . After all of the bloody hair bands and soft pop rock that I heard throughout the 80’s (some of it I really liked and still do but most of it was Garbage 🗑 )and my youth, Trent Reznor and his band was something else entirely. It totally blew me away! Looking 👀 back at it now, his truly original sound was like a big middle finger 🖕 to the entire music 🎶 industry and commercialism, selling out etc. at the time and still to this day. I’m 40 now and I still Love ❤️ my Nine Inch Nails! They’re my favourite band, along with Nirvana (who coincidentally also started in 1989), Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins 🎃 , Offspring, Green Day, Alice In. Chains, Jane’s Addiction, Bush, Silverchair etc. from the 90’s era. I also like many other bands and musicians from other eras and decades, but the 90’s and it’s alternative and grunge scene would have to be my favourite decade for sure. Rock on 🤘 and Take Care Everyone! 😎🎶🎸👍

now we are gonna be this parents :D nice
People complaining about his new stuff: look, he isn't the man he was in Broken or DWS, he's not on drugs, he's not drinking. He's in his 50s now, has kids, a wife, and concerns for what the world is going through NOW. His sound has softened, but it carries an ominous sound. This is his music, and it's very clearly his journey... After The Fragile, you saw a new Trent, sober, realizing there's things going on. I personally liked the feel Year Zero gave, and The Slip. Like we're being watched trough our front facing cameras.
I think once all these EPs are finally out, we'll understand the theme. So bad ass.
Couldn't have said it better myself
well said :)
I don't care that he's sober and old -- that's no excuse for making mediocre music. C'mon, Trent, you're better than this milquetoast rubbish.
You are 100% correct! Great post.
I absolutely love the NIN discography except for Hesitation Marks and Ghosts. I do not think Trent has ever compromised on his music, however his other band HTDA I think is pretty bad..
I love how he can experiment with his sounds by going lighter or dark, but never completely loses touch of his distinct sound
Fun fact: The max score you can get in Tetris is 999,999🧱
This literally saved my week
Mike Cerantola mine too man..

shane tackett lol, excuse me for being happy that my favorite band released new music. You clearly have your own issues to resolve. Good luck with life
Wow Shane who pissed in your corn flakes LMAO
I'm a happily married man whom is in love with his wife. But you, Trent... I fucking love you.
I almost read this as "Trent, I'd fuck you" and was like "yeah, same"
Trent is a timeless being, like a vampire. He sounds just as great as he did 30 years ago!
REMEMBER THEM DAZE WHEN MELBOURNE HAD DA BEST GEAR ON THE QUIET HEY
He obviously bathe in the blood of virgins
Can’t believe he is turning 60 soon
in my opinion this easily stands up with hurt, sin, perfect drug and every day is exactly the same as being one of their best songs they've ever made.
Agreed. 🤘
The perfect drug was the worst song they ever made

I don't recommend listening to this while driving unless you want to pay a hefty speeding ticket.
I'd happily pay that ticket just for the experience.
I have been pulled over while NIN was on:The Great Destroyer (modwheelmood remix) - that one gets me going even though its downtempo. They let me off with a warning.

Trent spitting pure fire in these EP'S.. NIN is, was, and will be one of the biggest music acts, ever.
Vasari O Being Big doesn't mean it's good...
IrishZombie81 subjective opinion i guess. Trent is a great artist, for me. sure, he had his ups and downs, and he tried new things that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, but just how ot is, right?
it's totally fine for you not to like NIN, ya kno
Vasari O never said i didn't like Trent, NIN is my favorite band, i just simply stated just because it's big doesn't mean it's good, that goes for anything
I've been listening to your music for the past 20+ years and you're still killing it 🤘🔥
Matt -SYCOPROMETHEUS- doesn'tlikeyou I have followed NIN and Trent for 2 decades and I have enjoyed the ride, and I hope it continues for awhile to come.
Ian Boyle the fact Trent is 52, has a family, he's accomplished so much in his career and yet he still writes banging tracks like this and film scores for all of us to enjoy just blows me away. I hope he continues for many years to come!
The only artists that as time goes on continues to churn out brilliant music.
Misty Snow NIN dont come to mind when I ponder timeless artists still on the level what about Tool or.... well maybe you are right not as easy to come up with appropriate artists as I thought.
If your name is really Misty Snow...that's pretty neat.
Foo Fighters
2pac you know still got a few platinum records in him. Lol nah but, I guess Eminem still has a few gems here and there. Cant think of anyone still sidesTool & Eminem preference is a huge factor since I bet nobody on this NiN shit bumps hiphop. Oh I knkw Madonna was still hot on that last album like 9 years ago. That should make her around 107-108 yrs old.
Nah, there is plenty of consistent artist. So maybe less known than Trent like Dance Gavin Dance and Killswitch Engage. I don't think Benjamin Burnly(Breaking Benjamin) has really written a bad song either.
LYRICS:
[Verse 1]
Focus?
We didn't even notice
We awake in a place we can barely recognize
Yeah, hypnosis
And you can justify it all
Your back is up against the wall again
Shut up, silence
Add a little violence
And offend and pretend and defend
And demand my compliance
And you can always justify
The missile trails across the sky again
[Chorus 1]
So what are you waiting for?
You got what you asked for
Did it fix what was wrong with you?
Are you less than?
Go and look what you've gone done
C'mon, welcome oblivion
Did it fix what was wrong with you?
Are you less than?
[Verse 2]
Needful
Too many fuckin' people
You'll have to take care of yourselves
Y'know I've got my hands full
And you can always justify
The missile trails across the sky again
[Chorus 2]
Go on, what are you waiting for?
You got what you asked for
Did it fix what was wrong with you?
Are you less than?
And look what you've gone done
Welcome oblivion
Did it fix what was wrong inside?
Are you less than?
[Chorus 3]
So what are you waiting for?
You got what you asked for
Did it fix what was wrong with you?
Are you less than? (Are you less than? Less than?)
Look what you've gone done
Well, welcome oblivion
Did it fix what was wrong inside?
Are you less than?

This is why I fucking love NIN. Everything new that they make sounds familiar, yet fresh every time.

You can hear the ghosts of "Came Back Haunted" and "Even Deeper" on this track

I am so fucking happy right now.
The chorus has similar vibes to Not So Pretty Now, the intro is pure 80's
I like this a lot! Well done Trent!
that's it! I was trying to remember what that chorus was sounding similar to, but just couldn't remember at all. thanks, you've just spared me some precious time.
Yea the lyrics feel like they were manifested somewhere along With_Teeth and Year Zero

No one brings the energy and attitude quite like NIN!
"Pretty Hate Machine" is still my favorite NIN album, I am extremely happy to hear you're going back to your origins since the last EP. Fantastic song! Can't wait for July 21st
Same. Sick of hearing people say it didn't age well. It was my favorite trent sound. It was really when he discovered himself, and in my opinion, at his most honest before he tapped into the anger fully. Plus that beautiful industrial synth pop. Fucking masterpiece.

This song is catchy as fuck. Probably the catchiest nine inch nails has been in a long while. I would certainly not mind this becoming a popular single.
Josh Killcrop Its so uplifting while the lyrics are questioning one's place at the same time as well. The dynamic is wild

Probably one of the best songs on this album.
This entire EP is not only the best of the trilogy, it's some of the finest work NIN has ever released. Absolute classic wall-to-wall.

Congratulations for The Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame 2020 Mr Reznor..you deserve it since a long time already
This I feel is the best NIN track ever. I am near 50 years old. This single track addresses my issues as a kid in the 80's. I wish I wasn't as fixated as I was but you know. I was saved being so too.
Polybius. Wow. What a reference... here's to everyone who understands what it references.
Love the guitars kicking in. It pushes the song into overdrive.
Brendan O'Neal You're totally right
Thumbs up!
That part of the song is so intense...so hot!
Dude, YES. It just pumps louder when it kicks in, in turn pumping ME up! So good.
I love the general sound design of this song. Most bands today that are from a "punk" or "hardcore" past all have way too squeaky clean high production sound. It sucks all of the energy out of the song. This sounds like it was recorded on a 70's tape machine, and it really adds to the feel of the song.
I have to stop myself from listening to this song on repeat so that I don't hate it by the time the EP comes out.
One of the best songs of 2017...
The guy is a legend...
She's playing you like a video game, a very dangerous game that is. Polybius.
Loving this song!
god damn Trent nails another dope ass song.. guy can't help but kill it year after year.
I. CAN'T. STOP. LISTENING.
i stop in the middle and go back to the start
Me neither. Once I was given my first album by a girl I use to hang out with, I can't stop listening to Nine Inch Nails just cant do that. Once my eyes were opened to my interpretation of their music, it's been a spiritual journey ever since. People can try to say oh that's Satan's music, well that's one interpretation. I see a different reality, my eyes are open.
I absolutely live for anything Trent produces. When someone asks, "what one celebrity would you like to meet?", the answer will always be Trent Reznor. No one could distract that for a moment. This song is just one more song on my playlist that will make my days tolerable. Thank you Trent.
Does anybody actually know what the game is a reference to? "Polybius" is a video game urban legend. The legend goes, it was an arcade game that showed up at a few Arcades at Portland, Oregon, which was used by the CIA to hypnotize people during Operation MKUltra. The machine gave people nausea(vomiting), severe headaches, nightmares, etc.
It’s been debunked. I watched a documentary where all these arcade collectors were fed up with the story, always knowing it was a hoax because it made no sense, but having no proof ,as well as constant inquiries.
they sherlocked it by starting with combing through caches to find the very first reference to it online, which revealed a shady string of East German arcade collector/dealers and getting ready for deepening intrigue, but then they were called in from the field.
the owner of the arcade reproduction game website they’d stated their East German investigation from admitted to making it up in 1997 as a super cool first listing in his online catalog.
but the creepy story is still super creepy nd this portrays it perfectly
FolkPunk MusicJunkie Of course I know that it was fake, but it is still interesting to think about.
i love that urban legend
This song is like "The Hand That Feeds" "Ringfinger" "Not So Pretty Now" and "Came Back Haunted" having a baby together. This is pure awesome nin.... it makes me feel what I felt long time ago when I discovered nin for the first time. The strenght of the track is the same as The Hand That Feeds, so simple but so incredible in the same time ! Because the composition itself is awesome, a piano cover of this would be awesome !
The hand that feeds was such an awesome track, this is right up there too. I love old and new NIN but hand that feeds may be the perfect blend. So happy this is along those lines. Cool video too. I want to play that game!!!!

I am so in love with this track. I really needed this, thank you Trent for your continued art in the music scene.
I love how you used Polybius for the background, anyone who actually knows what that is understands the conspiracy behind it lol brilliant
No wonder it's so addictive lol
it´s all true
Though no one really knows what is in the game. Even the game existence never has been proved.
Think it's more Urban Legend than conspiracy. But " Sinneslöschen " does seem to fit with the song.
Oh I know.
Been a NIN fan since the 90's and this is just fantastic! Awesome songwriting and very powerful sound. I'm gonna legit get a fuckin' speeding ticket if I keep listening to this in my car...
waaa, be careful!
Best band in the world.
Most incredible musician out there.
Feels like a messier version of Came Back Haunted. The chorus is beautiful... the outro is just flawless!
Yes, it's a bit of a mix of melodies and sounds from newer and older albums, but I'd say it's more 'upcycled' than 'recycled'. You can hear echoes of other songs in here, but that doesn't take away from it at all. He's renovated some old sounds and pumped this track full of adrenaline.
I can't complain, really. I'm fucking hooked and I can't stop listening. A catchy, gut-busting, pumper-upper.
The only criticism I have is that it seems a bit uninspired, lyrically. Lacking direction. But I can't judge that until I hear the whole EP. I have to say, if Trent wasn't as smart as he is, this song would've been dangerously close to sounding overproduced and mainstream...don't kick me. He has enough finesse to have totally saved this song. I like it, it's exciting. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of this EP.
My complaint is how compressed sounding this song is, this guy's albums are usually so well produced.
Now it just sounds congested
Couldn't agree with you more, in fact I wish he also came back for composing game soundtrack.
@ taief miah, i think that compression is more of a YT thing than it is the song.

>New Nine Inch Nails Song
>Jeff Minter did the visuals
> Has an homage to VideoDrome
I approve.
It isn't VideoDrome, its Polybius. If you don't know, Polybius is a myth about a game made by the government to test the effects of LSD on the public for mind control purposes resulting in at least one death as part of the governments MKULTRA program. The fucked up part about the myth is that even though Polybius was not a real video game, MKULTRA was a real thing that actually did involve people being drugged by the FBI to test out LSD in combat situations. MKULTRA is now widely known as a failure that never gave the FBI anything but even worse PR than it already had, though.
I'm aware of Polybius & MKULTRA. But there is a small homage to VideoDrome as well. I think they show it two spots, most notably at the end, but when the pointing hand pokes out of the TV, the effect is a nod to a scene in VideoDrome. balkankomuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/videodrome.jpg Granted that story itself is kind of similar, at least in terms of the concept of mind control and programming people into killers; though VideoDrome is more of a commentary on the nature of the media and how it can shape ones perceptions and mindset.
well bok then, ya did ur research, gj
Heh, I'm a bit of a David Cronenberg fangirl. I'm definitely gunna pick up on a nod... even a subtle one.
Kaye Faye Hi 4channer fellow! xD

Best NIN song for years. Awesome!
NIN goes great with video games. Hesitation Marks came out around the same time as the last Splinter Cell came out, and playing coop with my brother and listening to NIN captured a great moment in my life.
Thank you Trent! Always love new NIN, but you seriously need to add more dates to your tour! I cannot wait to see what you have planned for the experience.
"Welcome oblivion."
Heh. Nice reference.
I'm playing this loud enough that my ears hurt but somehow I need this to be louder.
I think that's because ambient background whilke getting louder is taking over drum section, riffs and voice parts. It sounds pretty hypnotising.
Yeah, that's pretty much a NIN trade mark. Ever since Pretty Hate Machine, loud is never loud enough. If the neighbours haven't alerted noise control, you're doing it wrong.
thats not a good thing you know.
It needs to be turned up to 11, for that extra oomph.
That's Nine Inch Nails in a nutshell
NIN was the reason for buying the Game and both are great.
Trent is the reason I became a musician.
Trent back to his best here. Love this.
Thank you Trent.
Just like the urban legend of Polybius, this video and song really hooks you in!
