@@garuda Way too fast. We have some cool things these days (these updated versions of our favorite games, VR headsets coming to the mainstream market, quality HOTAS setups, etc), but in working to even have a chance to afford any of it, we sacrifice the time we'd have to even enjoy playing.
It does make me wish the squadrons was even remotely like this with full fleet battles.
23:35 If Disney would like to give me a new engine to remake the game proper with the full creative leeway to do Reimagined (and perhaps a nice bag of money to go with it), sure I'd love to do even more with this if I could! The XWVM project - which is remaking X-Wing in a new engine - might be the closest in the long term future, assuming they don't get a cease & desist one day, their project allows compatibility with the .tie mission files so it would be possible to transfer Reimagined to it and then expand upon it.
Just wait until you get to the later missions though, I really try to push the engine as hard as I can with the scope of some of the later battles and even more so with the missions I'm still developing :)

I'm squirreling some money aside for a good HOTAS setup and VR headset so I can play through this, the fully upgraded VWA and (once it's completed) XWVM. The work you've done here is phenomenal and I'm eagerly anticipating your future work.

22:00 On my original playthrough of the Collector's CD-ROM Edition I actually got killed in one of the TIE Defender missions like that.
I don't remember the exact mission, but it was one of the longer ones. I'd completed all the other objectives, there were no enemies left and I was basically just waiting for final objective which was that an Imperial Star Destroyer had to hyperspace out. So I was just faffing around waiting for this to happen when my fighter suddenly exploded, and I saw the ISD vanish through me into hyperspace.
IIRC I got captured by the rebels and had to replay the entire (fairly long-winded) mission.
no one likes flying the bomber , but someone has to do it XD
It's like flying a Y-wing but like a boss lol.
I actually preferred the Bomber over the Tie Fighter, yes it gives slow a new meaning, but it can take a bit more of a pounding than the Fighter can, those things are so fragile it's as if they are made of paper.

Unironically, the most humanitarian Imperial officer in the Empire as any other officer in his position would have said "...should you lose too many starfighters..."
There's a reason why TIEs aren't equipped with life support and shields, and seen more as an unnecessary expense.
The Nostalgia is strong in this one.
"I love the number of Ties!" - Yeah, even if they increase the number of attacking craft, it just feels more natural to have a greater number of Tie Fighters!
"Swarm tactics" is pretty much the de facto method of combat for Tie Fighters after all.
Also, I agree, this makes it feel more like a "real" battle.

Lol, it's easier for the Imperial Logistics to mark things down as destroyed, rather than have to account for them later.
You should look up X-Wing VM, it's a project to make a new engine for X-Wing, which could theoretically be adapted into an engine for TIE Fighter. No public release yet.

There are a bunch of keys you may find useful. "I" to target incoming missiles, "O" to target the nearest mission critical ship, "E" to target ships attacking you... you should go through the keys list and write some of them down.

Is there an in-lore explanation for why the Imperial Navy keeps its pilots permanently disoriented by changing the ship type they fly with every mission?
I didn't realise the Ships had the potential of hitting you when entering hyperspace, I thought they just disappeared lol
Maybe the destruction of captured stuff is standard operating procedure intended to prevent some of the more economically enterprising Imperial Navy officers from establishing a black market of untracked goods, or sending it home for their families. From that point it's a short step to actual Imperial goods starting to mysteriously going missing from supply depots...

The TIE bomber should have all the missiles not just 12. That's only double the payload of an X-Wing. To justify its existence it should carry at least 20 actual bombs AND missiles like the missile boat had. What say you all?

Squadrons is just a tragedy. My PC isnt even close to being to handle this, but i know my PS5 could handle it. Its such a shame that a game this awesome doesnt exist for console.
