We are not at this point yet but with fees going up each year, it's on our minds. In the past three years, we've been able to rent weeks to either fully pay fees and taxes or, in 20224, pay 2/3 of fees and taxes. We ill try again in 2025.
I did this earlier this week (Hyatt). Within 24 hours, I received a big fat No. But they didn't hesitate to put me on a call list of exit companies. I've received 6-8 phone calls a day since.
Ugh, guessing you own welk? Even more sickening they forward your contact details to exit company scammers. Unfortunately welk owners (even platinum) find themselves in the ugly situation of being unable to give it back and unable to give it away forcing most to simply walk away and stop paying. While a poor option, for many its a "better bad option" than continuing to pay forever!
I asked Wyndham in October and they gave me a big run around … i’ll try again, but it was going to be a long process with me having to pay back fees and I’m not interested in paying them another dime
Unfortunately in most cases the resort will require you to pay back any past due or delinquent fees in order to allow you to surrender the ownership back.
@ I probably wouldn’t mind doing that, but the lady couldn’t give me a guarantee and I have so many trust issues that Icouldn’t proceed …. I just looked at the link that was provided and it says you don’t have to do any paperwork and she was telling me I would have to do paperwork …so they’re already fake advertising.
@@smaurer4197 where does it mention no paperwork? there would always be paperwork involved in the transfer of an ownership as it requires your signature.
You’re right I took the “all you need is a “phone call” to mean no paperwork and so now I see it does say a form has to be completed,@@TimeshareUsersGroup
note that almost none of these are "buy backs" vs surrendering your ownership back to the resort/developer and many times the owners are charged a fee to do so! but yes, these programs apply to both weeks and points type ownerships.
Thank you so much, @TimeshareUsersGroup! I really appreciate your support. I’m feeling a bit confused right now, but I’m determined to try doing it on my own this time, without falling for any of those exit scams.

it is a decision that nearly every owner has to make eventually!
Thank you very much.
You are welcome!

@@TimeshareUsersGroup Yep! I don't think their contract is valid, though... "Lifetime" doesn't seem right. I'm not sure this is really enforceable.

Quick Question are the buy back deed programs only for Weeks or does it also apply to the point system?

Who would be the most appropriate person to talk to?
What resort or system do you own?
@ I own a timeshare called Rangel Lake in Maine. I think it’s owned by Festiva.
Sorry Rangely Lake
