You have to give them that. As well as that Queen admits to being heavily inspired by Led Zeppelin. I personally prefer Queen but you've gotta respect the OGs
Honestly though, judging by influence and showmanship, The Beatles and Queen would be top two (at least in my list), followed by Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, then Nirvana, and The Doors.
1: The Beatles 2: Led Zeppelin 3: Pink Floyd 4: Queen 5: Black Sabbath 6: The Who 7: Iron Maiden 8: Rush 9: Nirvana 10: Metallica Not at all my personal favourite, but if I am to compare the impacts of all four in their respective genres/subgenres, this is what it would be. Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Metallica are three of the Big 4 of Metal (excluding Judas Priest) and there's no doubt Sabbath is at the top for most influential, Maiden following below for their sheer epic showmanship, instrumentation, and consistency, and though Priest had a heavy hand in shaping the sound of the NWOBHM and Metal in general going forward, Metallica became the first Metal band to land a spot at the Grammy's and exposed the whole underground movement to the mainstream, not including the Glam movement which was popular for other reasons not entirely to do with musicality. Even then, Nirvana managed to overtake Metallica into the 1990s by single handedly destroying the Glam movement and allowing hundreds of underground alternative bands to make it big. For only a five-year career, they did more to change music and pop culture than most bands on this list other than The Beatles and Black Sabbath. The Who are simply legendary and foreshadowed a lot of things into 1970s Hard Rock. One of the earliest to do concept albums and movies (again, besides The Beatles) and gave birth to the Classic Rock spirit, energetic live performances, and rebellious stage destroying. And finally, Rush is simply the most perfect virtuoso lineup of any band from the time (maybe besides Emerson, lake & Palmer, though they aren't as legendary and impactful) and have one of the most passionate cult followings and universal respect for their musicianship. Amongst all of this, there's still no defeating the Top 4. Queen are one of the best hitmakers of all time, at the same time having quite the amazing and overlooked back catalogue. They innovated the concept of advanced multitracking and overdubbing vocals, guitars, drums, pianos, and bass, played by some of the best musicians in Rock on all four instruments, and then of course the legendary voice of Freddie Mercury. They were the voted many times as the greatest live band of all time and reigned for nearly 20 years in the spotlight plus more through their post-Freddie touring. Not to mention they've produced many iconic songs such as Somebody To Love, Under Pressure, and who can forget Bohemian Rhapsody, of which is often voted the greatest song of all time! They also created several anthems that are too engrained into Pop culture that it's unlikely that we will ever forget them. I'm of course referring to We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions. They lure fans in with their hits and surprise them with their deep cuts. Then we have Pink Floyd, one of the leading bands of the Psychedelic Rock genre in the late 1960s that gained immense popularity around the world before they had even gone Progressive in sound. But once they did with Atom Heart Mother and Meddle, it was becoming clear that their music was heading somewhere new and everyone was on board to see what was coming. And then The Dark Side Of The Moon came out, and it reigned present on the charts for a total of nearly a thousand weeks and still counting every so often. Many consider this the greatest album of all time for how well it combined genres and required the listener to listen to ever track from start to finish, and then there's the iconic album cover that is seen everywhere from T-shirts to posters to coffee mugs and more. And they didn't stop there. Every album in the 1970s to follow either topped the last or equally rivaled. Wish You Were Here and Animals were very leading in the Progressive Rock sound but The Wall was on a whole other level and is perhaps the greatest Concept record of all time. In terms of Albums, Pink Floyd made the best albums one can buy and are often the most valued pieces for everyone's Vinyl collection. The runner up to the top is Led Zeppelin whom despite some plagiarised songs are still incredible for how they defined Hard Rock and innovated Heavy Metal a year before Sabbath. They invented the Rock Star as an idea of Rock music. In their first two albums, they managed to overtake The Beatles as the top selling group. They were one of the heaviest bands of 1969 with 4 of the most iconic and innovate musicians in Rock. Every member has been idolised to death for good reason. Robert Plant's Bluesy voice translated to their Hard Rock sound and became the standard for Rock vocals that have rippled through time in voices like Bon Scott, Steve Perry, Brian Johnson, and Axl Rose. His place as the sexy frontman was something that was so taboo at the time, it became typical for everyone who followed. Jimmy Page, another legendary guitarist, may not have been the cleanest guitarist, but he was a phenomenal melody maker and guitar innovator. Jimi Hendrix, whom began a few short years before Zeppelin, had a legacy that was continued through Page, though Page actually debuted much earlier as a teenager and then initially rose to fame in the mid 1960s with The Yardbirds. But when he joined Led Zeppelin, he discovered a bond with his bandmates that allowed him to breakout into innovating guitar tones, techniques, and recording, all the while writing some of the most iconic guitar riffs, licks, and solos. John Paul Jones on bass, whom started as a session musician, applied a professional and classically-trained approach to music on the Led Zeppelin sound. Smooth bass tones and riffs complemented the feel on both Jimmy Page and John Bonham on drums. Not only was he a professional bassist, but he was a surprisingly excellent keyboardist and was not shy to display that talent. And then of course, is the beast behind the set, John Bonham, a man whose drumming changed everything from micing techniques to bass drum triplets to African-style rhythm to arena-filling drum solos and beyond. There isn't enough one can say about what made Bonzo so legendary but one thing is foresure, it's that he was the man that put the Lead in the Zeppelin, increasing the weight of the music ten-fold while also displaying a sense of control over his limbs enough to perform complex rhythmic beats that many today will still struggle with. All four of these members managed to create a handful of the greatest albums in Rock, the most recognisable riffs, legendary solos, and beats, and of course Stairway To Heaven. Say what you want about the song's alleged plagarism, they made it in a way that completely reinvented the sound and became one of the most legendary song in Rock, rivaling Bohemian Rhapsody, many arguing it's greater. But at the top of it all, the band that did concept albums and films before The Who and Pink Floyd, did Heavy Metal before Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, did album medleys before Pink Floyd and Queen, reinvented Rock music as early as 1959, became the biggest band in the world after just 2 albums, continued to fill the charts by dominating entire Top 5 spots with their songs alone, became the most experimental and innovative artists in popular music as well as the most influential and inspiring band, invented and/or popularised dozens of genres, styles, and techniques, have the most number one hits of any artist, have their albums constantly ranked at the top of multiple greatest albums lists, are the most cited to band for millions of artists for their influence, changed the way we listen to music in many ways, changed how live concerts are held and operated, contain three of the greatest songwriters in music, created dozens of the most iconic melodies in music, have the most songs covered by other bands, and on top of all of this, managed to achieve it all with an 8 year career in which not a single lineup change took place, The Beatles are without a doubt the most important band in the history of popular music. Everything I listed above is but a fraction and/or an oversimplification of the achievements this band did. They influenced so much regarding Rock music, Pop music, hundreds of subgenres under both, English Culture, and musicianship. They were the first Rock band to make it big with completely original music. They were one of the earliest innovators of many recording techniques and made major achievements with their experimentation in the studio. They constructed albums like no one else before them. Not only were they the biggest band in the world, but they were the most Progressive band in history. Not specifically in terms of Prog Rock, though even that they pretty much invented by definition, but they pushed the boundaries of music harder than anyone else could have possibly done and opened doors for everyone. Their music from 1965 onward was so incredibly groundbreaking that every album they released was considered the greatest album of all time when it was released, only to be topped less than a year later by themselves. Help! and Rubber Soul practically invented Psychedelic Rock and Baroque Pop. Revolver invented Symphonic Rock and pushed Psychedelic Rock even further. Sgt. Pepper's invented Progressive Rock, Rock Operas, and influenced many alter egos. Magical Mystery Tour popularised Avant-Garde Rock and Experimental Rock. The White Album further popularised both while also venturing into a handful of other genre combinations that no one would have even considered trying out. Yellow Submarine popularised Childrens Rock, and Abbey Road is simply a perfect epitaph to the greatest band in history and had a heavy hand in defining Progressive Rock before King Crimson hit the scene with In The Court Of The Crimson King. That's nowhere near the end of it, but I've already made this comment long enough, so I think I've said all I need to say.

They're so popular and I think it's because Freddie has a sort of legend status due to his stage presence, that attracts fans more than just the music (which is great though, don't get me wrong). His tragic death also adds to that legendary factor.
My only gripe with tournaments like these, is that it's basically just a popularity contest. It's just a matter of which band people *LIKE* more, not necessarily one they think is technically better

Sorry man but you started out the tournament all wrong. I can kinda understand doing the 4 death match thing but there was no legit placement with rankings. You had some really high caliber bands going against other high caliber bands in the first round and it wasn’t even 1v1. A lot of the bands that got out in the 4 death match should have made it higher in the list because of better ranking match ups
It's a bit of a pisstake it's a shame when people say the Beatles are overrated because if it wasn't for them none of their favourite bands would probably not exist as well as pink Floyd
I agree Alice In Chains should have been put in a different bracket for it to at least have a chance but it was put with GNR, AC/DC, and Van Halen, and most people probably like those classic bands to AIC. It was placed unfairly but it is what it is.

Not at all my personal favourite, but if I am to compare the impacts of all four in their respective genres/subgenres, this is what it would be. The Top 4 are essentially the Big 4 of Rock and I always see them in this particular order, even though Queen is my personal favourite. Ikr insanely disappointing
It's a bit of a pisstake it's a shame when people say the Beatles are overrated because if it wasn't for them none of their favourite bands would probably not exist as well as pink Floyd
I don’t care what any of you say
AC/DC is better than Guns N’ Roses
I can’t believe Paramore was even up there and STP was left in the dust. Unfortunate, but it is what it is
I knew Alice wouldn’t beat nirvana or queen or Led Zeppelin or anything. But how tf did they get out first round? Alice is absolutely legendary.
I agree Alice In Chains should have been put in a different bracket for it to at least have a chance but it was put with GNR, AC/DC, and Van Halen, and most people probably like those classic bands to AIC. It was placed unfairly but it is what it is.
Choosing between Led Zeppelin and Queen (fuck you kaeden) was not like choosing between my children since I put them up for adoption last video
