I always thought the elephant enclosure is to small. But what did they improve? A new viewing area that cost millions to see the elephants. Something is backwards here.
I think it would be an interesting concept if the zoo acquired a large parcel of land, and turned it into a drive through animal reserve, so certain animals had more land to roam, and people could drive through and watch the animals from a distance. They could also build hotels on the outskirts of the reserve, so people could sit on a balcony and watch the animals off in the distance with binoculars.
Elephants should not be in zoos. They are forced to live to cramped environments standing on hard floors with crowds of people staring at them. They should be freed and taken to a sanctuary.
