Thanks Christian! Really enjoyed this. Have been studying Otis recently and you do a great job outlining his moves to get that sound. 👏👏🎹😎

This was very interesting, thanks for taking my request. I usually don't find videos about licks that helpful, but you picked some very revealing ones and also gave your insight about his approach and thought process. So inspired, Spann is one of my most favorite ones and now I've got new aspects to chew on. Keep it up, I think you got what it takes for this kind of "impersonation" videos (not easy AT ALL) and would love to hear more!

Thanks Wolf! And you are right, it´s a task , this impersonation thing. It can easily become preposterous. And I would dare this only with a few. Yet my personal style has a similar approach or elements as Spann. Rhythmic shifting, free wild runs, explosiveness, playfulness ( what he does to the form I didnt even show here. (Like 3 and a half bars C, why not. ). Let´s see, whom I can grab next....Thanks for you great feedback, Christian

I wonder if "timing" was first a word of music or of real life...Thanks for your feedback!

Love this. You keep adding more tutorials on all the players I like. Please keep them coming. Makes me motivated to get out the "Marie" transcription I bought. I got frustrated as it's hard to capture his style on paper, I think.

As usual Christian, you are totally void of vanity and pretense. You correctly acknowledge that Otis' irregularity is near impossible to copy and only by turning off the metronome can one begin to give their own reasonable facsimile of what this unique musician had to say. You are such a good communicator. Thank you for being real
