I just saw this review and i love it. I got to say that your journey is inspiring. I'm working through the Bug Bounty path at the moment and then will go onto the Pentester path.
I failed the OSCP back in December. Feels like the course work didn't prepare me well for the exam. Planning on going through the CPTS first to over prepare for the OSCP. Plus I want to actually be skillful in the field.
Reading through the comments and remembering that this question popped up a few times in my head.. When people say the Pentester jobrole path + cpts exam is MORE than enough/over prepared for OSCP to pass, do people then STILL go through the OSCP material/labs, or does the HTB path completely REPLACE Offsecs course/material? 🤔🤔🤔 Thanks!
Thanks for replying @@overgrowncarrot1 🙂 So then knowledge wise there is no need for their wonky material as the HTB path covered all +more and the labs, aside from the practice itself, prepares a bit for how the actual exam machines will/might be?
Huge red team noob, I've been mostly focused on blue. I tried going through CPTS as my first course and holy shit it broke me pretty hard. decided to go for PEH route first. Good to hear that CPTS is a monster, def moving towards it eventually, nice review!
As a first course, I would quit lol. Good job at sticking with it and going the PEH route. I am sure after that route more of the CPTS route started to click and a lot of ohhhhs happened lol
Congrats! Could you please mention other things about ? What you need to do to know for sure that you are ready to take the exam after you complete the path ? I know that you mention that the job path is enough, but sometimes I”m filling like I would like to test that 😅! Thank you in advance, congrats again and keep up the good work, I would mention that I”m a soc analyst and have already the ejpt!
Interesting, I am thinking about their new senior web pentester path, so hearing that this was the best one so far for network pentesting certs that you've come across I'm wondering how good their new web one is.
I feel like they would only move up from here. I have seen a few people already talk about the path being amazing. They are truly setting the bar high for other organizations to try and keep up.
Congratulations Ryan! Failed my first attempt with 11 flags after spending 4 days on flag 9 haha, also just got my review, doing a retake in a couple days, Happy for you man :)
Just looking at HTB discord and you will see about 100 posts on did you pass flag 9 lol. That is going to be a meme soon. It will be like try harder, except people are just going to say flag 9 lol
@@overgrowncarrot1More like over 200 comments 😆Funny thing is, flag 9 was actually easy, you would not believe what I was stuck on man, one of the initial vectors for flag 9 wasnt explained in the course properly and I had no prior practice on that until after the exam(cant divulge what that was here cause of ToS) but still it was an awesome experience! Hoping to get the remaining 3 flags. Did you get all flags?
Congrats on passing! This is something I plan on doing after I take the OSEP. Roughly how long did it take for you to go through the path and how much time were you putting in?
About 3 months at a couple hours a day. However, at one point for about a week I was able to complete around 12 hours a day of stuff and obviously during that time knocked out a lot of it
Those two things are totally different, but I would say you have a better foundation for the web attacks taught throughout the penetration tester job role path.
Has mentioning the completion of this cert helped when looking at jobs or ur current job ? I’m an info sec analyst looking to get into pen testing so I really appreciated your video man
I am in the military so this cert doesn't really do anything there. I don't retire from the military for a other year or so, but when I do retire I feel like for HR the OSCP does it, for actually knowledge and knowledge base assessments when looking for a job CPTS proves it

I am like 90 percent through the job role path for it, don't think I will actually take the exam for that one. If an employer paid for it I would, or if an employer wanted me to have it before starting a certain position I would. I feel that just the paths themselves, like I have said before, are amazing training.
This is great, very difficult at times and you be extremely frustrated at times when doing it. I feel more frustrated than OSCP, however, you learn a lot more
@@overgrowncarrot1 ya i saw that but the thing is to buy there training materials for ecppt from ine you have to be a premium member so i dont think i will get that as its almsot 700 dollars for that material for the subscription to get that material and thats really no okay so maybe another cert i just got the ejpt so thats why i preffered ecppt next but thought like ejpt the training would also come with the voucher but saw now thats not the case

@JakartaMax Thank You sir for your advice, I'm a student and I can't afford OSCP that's why I'm thinking about CPTS because it's better than OSCP in terms of Knowledge and skill but at the end it's not more popular. Again thank you ♥️
