Cropping with Generative Expand is best done in Photoshop, where you can increase the resolution of the added pixels, especially on the pano with that significant addition.
Colin, when I crop and image in Camera Raw 17 and then close ACR, the cropped image in PS 2025 has a transparent border around it which is very distracting. Any advice appreciated . This video has been very helpful as are all your PS videos. You are a "go to" resource for me. Thank You Kindly.
Updated to same camera raw version and ps version as you. Clicked AI features and setting panel Shut down ps, and even restarted the computer Opened ps, opened camera raw (ctrl shft A) Although the box for new ai is still checked, none of the features are showing. **** UPDATE - spoke to Adobe Support. The answer is the New AI feature in Camera Raw only works when the original source file is a ".RAW" file. The New AI features are hidden if you are just trying to edit a .jpeg file within Camera Raw.
Licensed newest version of Photoshop, Newest update of Camera Raw (17). and I have enabled the AI features and restarted Photoshop. There is no "Denoise" button, there is no Adaptive Profile. also, please find me the "Lens Corrections" tab where I could fix vignette and lens distortion in a simple click. Thanks.
Hi Colin please check this out : I just opened a raw file directly in PS and activated the new noise reduction in CR using the gear wheel as you suggested. Processed the shot and it did a good job. This file was previously in my LR catalogue. I opened it in LR and as far as I can see the NR is not applied in the LR view of the file. In fact LR is offering to do it again in its own NR facility. Now since the actual file is altered and not what it's displaying in LR then who knows what the result would be. Also opening a file from LR into PS ( not directly in PS) and into the camera raw filter, the new NR in CR does not display even if activated ( checked using the cog wheel - it's on but not available). So essentially LR users will have to be super careful here because there is no forward or backwards compatibility. I guess you could open in PS and "save as" after processing then re-import from the LR Library module. This needs fixing if I'm correct.
Currently this NR is only in LRC and not supported in the other apps yet. So best to use it and then save a copy of the photo if you are going to bring it into lightroom.
Another great video Colin! Some useful tips as always! One thing has been bugging me for a good few months since one update; when opening photos and that box pops up (that never used to) about color managing and using 'the embedded profile' or 'don't color manage'. What is the best thing to choose would you say? (And I will trust your advice implicitly)
If you are printing, choose Adobe RGB in your color settings and always use that. If you are sharing your images exclusively online, use sRGB, although adobe RGB is fine too. Adobe RGB supports more colors, sRGB will look more consistent across other people’s devices.
@@photoshopcafe Yes, but should you; 1) use the embedded profile instead of the working space, or 2) Convert document's colors to the working space? It never used to do this, so I may have inadvertently changed a setting accidentally with a shortcut.
Thanks a lot Dear Colin, I am using Bridge, and then from there to CR and to PS, I am nowdays working on a book and I need CMYK profiles, so , to what I learnt this is the way to work with photos that will then go to printing? Please help me out if I am confused? Thank you very much and best wishes from Uruguay!
I would convert to CMYK at the end of your workflow and maybe tweak the resulting colors if needed. Be aware there are some colors in RGB that won't be available in CMYK such as saturated royal blues.
Can we update just ACR w/out updating to Ps 2025 (production vers.) too? I like to leave a few wks, post MAX, for Adobe to fix annual update bugs... thx.
So is a raw image stored in the downloads in PSD form not considered a raw file? I do not have any problem opening up a raw file imported from L.R. Then I may make some changes, save in the downloads in PSD format but it does not open in camera raw again using the File-Open selection.
I have not been able to get the denoise to work with any of my raw DNG files. If I open a DNG the denoise parameters have triangles and state the file is incompatible.
So I tried updating to Photoshop 25 but it says my computer's CPU is no longer compatible. My computer is a decade old as of this year, so guess that means it's time to buy a new one. 😖
If it's any consolation I have the latest MacBook right before the M1 chip and mine says I need to update the OS to use the features. I don't want to update because everything is stable right now but will have to soon I guess.
Getting blue screen of death with the ai denoise. Another yet to be properly implemented feature in photoshop. Dont know if its Adobe or Nvidia this time..

favorite new feature: noise reduction; amazing!!
Some great content again, thank you 👍
Excellent and timely video, thx! As a photographer using LRC for editing DNG files, what is the benefit of using ACR inside of Photoshop?
Processing engines are the same. Advantage of ACR is being able to work with layers directly in PS
Excellent video again, thank you
Thanks
very good Colin another great video
Thanks 👍
good stuff! thanks for sharing!

feels really cool! thx for sharing! but I also feel that we are accelerating to be away from real photography.
That's OK. I've always thought that Photoshop was wasted on Photographers. 😉

Same here.
Just figured out the issue. You would need to open the RAW file directly in Photoshop and not via 'edit in' in Lightroom. Now, that's silly.
@@bl8550 very silly indeed, that would ruin my workflow of editing in lightroom first before taking into photoshop for the rest of the edit..

Sir i am using Apple macbook air m1 and the subject selection features is not working properly on my macbook
Help me please

Yet to try with DJI files

Why does Photoshop open a denoised photo on a new layer (layer 0) instead of a background layer? This makes it difficult to quickly save it as a JPEG…

Noise structure does not meet with the original photo when expanding during a crop. This is a major issue that Adobe can not solve.
This is still an issue as you saw on my pano example. It will get there eventually
Expanding is garbage right now. Terrible results for hi res work so essentially useless for me.
it might be obvious but do not update during or before a major project 😀

Since I didn’t have an Australian accent, I couldn’t use less without making it a silent movie.
