E/one Series 2000 Grinder Pump Alarm Test Failure on Columbus Ave

Steven Giles and Annita Tanini have had 3 basement backups at 8 Columbus Ave in Chelmsford which might be a record in Chelmsford. Here I show them how to test their grinder pump alarm so that they can be assured that it will alarm them if their grinder were to have a failure. Unfortunately it failed this test.

At 4:28 I can see smoke coming out from the box. I don’t think that it should be releasing smoke.
Did you figure out what broke? Why did it smoke? What was done to fix it?
I have this same box and I’ve modified it to page my cell phone if the alarm is activated. I’ve also added run time meter that logs each start stop time onto my computer. And written a report that displays run history as a table.

Is there any documentation on that battery backup alarm? I’m interested in knowing the points it connects to for sensing alarm when the power is off.

James Russell I’m not sure you would call it an “issue”. But when my power is off I can’t tell how full the tank is. Meaning I have no way to know if it’s reached the alarm level or not. I’d like to improve my existing panel to add in new feature to alarm for high level even when the power is off. I see that the unit in the video does exactly what I want. But it’s obviously not working in the video so I’m just trying to see where it hooks up.
I’ve already modified my own unit to page my cell phone for high water alarm. It also logs all runtimes to my home computer which allows me to chart historical usage. Perhaps I’m weird to have an interest in home automation. But It’s been my hobby for 30 years.
