Oh my god this is genius. You have made me fall in love with my Infinity all over again. It's like a completely different airbrush.
I cannot thank you enough for this, you absolute legend.
@@thomasraetz5750 your welcome glad you like the hack
Cracking idea, I'll give it a go.
This could easily be one of those fixes & videos that go viral. We'll know when everyone is out of stock of the washers 😂
You genius! I've never bothered to try and fix mine, ive just worked with it. I'll go do this to mine in a mo. Thanks for fixing this mate
Thanks for simple fix. Although in saying that my Infinity, which is about a year old, doesn't seem to have the play in the trigger at all. Maybe H&S sorted it.
Great fix Rob and as you said why wasn't this done from the factory, it makes you wonder who tests these brushes before they go into production if someone like yourself tested them at the design stage then these problems would be sorted👏👏👍
Well, all of the youtubers that complain about this mention that it is after going to another airbrush brand like Iwata, then coming back that they noticed the trigger response as an issue. If the H&S testers are only using H&S, then they won't realize it is a problem. That is "just how it is." And if they believe they have the best product on the market already, then they won't feel any incentive to "downgrade" to an Iwata....
Since these same triggers have been in use since 1998 or earlier and H&S is all about interchangeable parts, this issue has long since been "baked in" many of their airbrushes. But before they will fix, they still have to believe it is a problem.
Thanks! It definitely works. I noticed that I had to unscrew the needle stop on my Silverline Evolution to account for the two PTFE o-rings.
i have both the infinity cr plus and the new giraldez infinity. I tried the fix for the infinity cr plus and it worked like a charm. For the new giraldez infinity though no fix was needed. Seems they fixed it in the meantime themself ;-)
Got the seals today and just made the upgrade to my Infinity. What a difference! Thank you for that brilliant and simple improvement.
Really great fix, just got the infinity and did this before first use and it’s just so spot on
Thanks for this easy, logical remedy to the Infinity trigger response issue. I am going to try this with some 3 mm ptfe tube that i have.
Another idea is to increase the spring rate. You can use a micron spring or combine two h&s needle springs. I prefer combining two springs as I can modify one of the springs to make the combination just right.
Iwata black suits knocking on the door to be expected 😂
😂
Absolutely a fantastic video! This little fix is such good news for all the H&S owners who have been suffering with poor trigger response. Excellent and important video.. nice job!
Thank you much appreciated 🙏 I've been using the infinity so much more now the fix is done works great 👍
I struggled with my CR plus. Did it and it's freakinly awesome now. 👏👏🙌 You're a Genius Thank You
I have a few of the V2s and they were supposed to not have this issue but still do. Great idea mate and such an easy fix but genius.
I just wanted to drop by and say thanks, I was having issues with my H+S Silverline 2 in 1, sometimes i would spray way wider cones than i anticipated despite pulling the trigger back the same distance, but just assumed i was bad. I saw your vid almost by random chance, thought why not give it a shot. Here I am now able to write perfect consistent lines. Thanks so much dude you're an absolute legend. I really recommend anyone with an H+S give this a go as they all use this same mechanism.
Thanks again
Thank you for making this video. I will be trying this modification ASAP but I can see straight away that this fix will work like a charm!
Thank you, Just received my new infinity a week ago. I will take your advice and make this and make this alteration.
Perfect. I had a very long trigger pull to get paint. This worked hella-great!! 😎😎😎
Thank you for the excellent video and hack to improve the trigger response. I used the leftover Teflon washer from the .015 nozzle I destroyed while doing my first cleaning wit that brush. The needles and nozzles are stupid fragile. Reamed out the id of the washer as you showed in the video and slipped it on the needle chuck. The thickness was perfect for eliminating all the play in the trigger responsiveness.
It changed everything. Thank you, sir.
Thanks a lot for the idea Rob. You can also try something much cheaper instead of wasting the Teflon washers and these are the heat shrink insulators. Just need a couple of diameters and then cut them to the desired length after you put them on.
Exactly the problem I’m feeling on my H&S evo. Subscribed !
I love my Infinity but I also hate the trigger randomness. I bought the Infinity even though you warmed about this problem in a few of your video for way back. If this works for me too I will love you forever!!! You are an absolute LEGEND!
Big up Gunther that is genius bit fiddily if you've got bratwurst fingers well done Rob 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
😂 👍
Simply pure genius, well spotted and thanks for this video!
Your welcome thank you for the feedback
Tank you so much.
I've tried it on my infinity crplus, and it immediatly improved both my feeling and the airbrush precision (tested with 0.4 and 0.2 needles).
Work best with the two recommanded Harder&Steenbeck o'rings adjusted to fit the diameter of the needle command than with a washer with some play.
You sir are a genius. Thank you for sharing this clever solution.
Well Bud, that should make a lot of H&S owners happier. Who knows i might even pick up an ultra to give this a try now. My last look at H&S i was completely put off by the trigger response. From the factory its pretty horrible if you have used almost any other brush for a period of time.
Add to that an infinity is pretty pricey here. Looks like a good hack
Hi Bill I have another idea 💡 for this trigger aswell but need to get it machined out thanks for coming over and showing support with the channel all the best my fellow brushes👍
@@dredfxcustompaint i pop by time to time.. i just often forget to leave comments. i need to manage my time better cause its easy for me to get sucked in a rabbot hole on youtube

@@dredfxcustompaint Id say the options are stainless... but that would be prohibitive on a small scale. The ptfe might experience wear but definitely would be a super smooth option. I can imagine its extraordinarily smooth sliding along the ptfe. The question might be will it compress and deform over time.
hey maybe get them to make stainless nozzles next and all H&S brushes solved :0
Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated.👍
Great info I don't have a Harder & Steenbeck but I do have a couple of brushes that have horrible trigger response so I'll have to see if I can do something like that. Thank Rob
Nice, Ive been using an Infinity for several years and noticed the hysteresis on the trigger. You've solved it very eloquently.
Thank you !
thank you for the tip. I did this modification to my HS evolution and it helped a lot!
Genius. Thank You.
Thank you so much, I'm so glad someone solved it for whole H&S community. This thing was hunting me for such a long time!
Your welcome I am so glad I sorted it cannot put this brush down now 😀

Another grateful user here :) Again, amazed H&S never bothered to fix a very common problem with their brushes. Maybe my Iwata CR will not be my go to after this!
Nice instructive video..........look forward to the trigger "fix"....................
thanks for this. I have an Evolution CR plus and this little hack sorted out the trigger response . (I used some tiny little nylon washers from m3 bolts that I had lying around but they do the same job as the nozzle seals)
Did this on both my CRs and its a night and day difference. I just got a Grex xgi3 and it has the same style trigger setup, did the hack on that one as well. Thank you big time.
Your welcome Eric glad you like it thank you for the feedback much appreciated
Good fix. Works a treat. Big Thankyou
It does make the trigger feel better glad you like it thank you for the feedback much appreciated
Excellent video, I've always got on OK with mine but this will make it better no doubt.
Rob, the folks at H&S really should take this fix into consideration going forward. Yes, it's going to cost them a bit here and there, but this seems like a no-brainer in the H&S in-house upgrade department.
Awesome fix! Thank you so much. 🎉
Your welcome fellow airbrusher
Nice work. I was slowly coming to the same conclusion (after stripping it down and finding where the slack was), but the penny hadn't quite dropped without trial and error, but you've solved it, simply eloquently - thank you! 💜✌️💜👍😊😊
Imho the Evolution trigger (without the "weight saving"/"trendy" holes), is smoother in operation than the Infinity's too🤔😉✌️👍
But I agree, do it to the whole range - for such a great range of products H&S (R&D dept) really have dropped the ball!🙄🙄💔
My detail brushes were for fine work on models and whilst atomisation was great etc, spraying Eg bolt heads in 1:48 scale? Hit and miss literally😠😠😠🙄🙄
Thanks again 👍✌️💜😊
I have my suspicion why they did it that way. On my Evolution Silverline, the push action on the trigger is sometimes sticking or slow to release with the needle full forward because the stem of the trigger sits against the case, so the air doesn't shut off every time or only does so slowly. If I hold the trigger back a little bit while chucking in the needle and thereby increase the slack, it works perfectly, but I need to be a bit more careful to find the trigger point. If the mechanism was preloaded by default, that stickyness would be way worse. I wouldn't rule out that H&S would need to redesign their entire trigger group to resolve that potential issue across all product lines.
Thank you for this! I was getting a bit annoyed that my expensive Infinity was a bit frustrating to use compared to my Iwatas at half the price.
Just done the fix. Really amazing difference. Thanks.
Nice one 👍 enjoy your infinity I am thanks for the feedback much appreciated 👍
@@dredfxcustompaint Well, two weeks after doing the fix, I have found that tip drying is becoming a thing of the past. So glad you posted this.

Muchas gracias por el consejo ,acabo de comprarme un infinity y lo haré para mejorarlo.👍👍
Thanks for the sharing. It works! I have try out another quick fix by using a o-ring.
After more tests, I found that if you loose the spring tension too much, it might cause the double-cation airbrush into a single-action airbrush. So....your solution is quite amazing. :D
Absolutely brilliant, you bloody brain box! Thank you so much for sharing this 😁💪
Couldn't believe I did It with cold hands 🤪 thanks for watching jen

@@dredfxcustompaint Just installed the seals and I can't wait to try it tomorrow. I've NEVER sprayed without the seals, but I'm looking forward to having a paint trigger as responsive as my Iwata and Grexx airbrushes!

How good is that, great fix, and I don't even have a H&S.
Very interesting! Great video!
You sir are a legend!
I really wanted to like this brush but that trigger response was awful! Now you've sussed this out I really can love it.
I owe you a beer....
Your welcome 👍
WHAAAAAAAT !!!..... You're a Genius.. Thank you.. 💫
Thank you so much for posting this! I've been on the fence on buying the H&R Infinity CR Plus 2 in 1 for quite a while now. It's been the reports of poor trigger response that's been holding me back, and I've been looking for alternatives. With this, I can finally pull the trigger and buy it! :D
(Now I "only" need to find a silent compressor that is also somewhat affordable)
FACEBOOK sales and look for a iwata studio jet or studio series compressor you cannot go wrong with one of them
Thanks, will test it
Amazing! Thanks!

Brilliant!
I noticed the weird delay in seeing it affect the needle when pulling back the trigger. Now that is gone.
Great Hack! Awesome Video!!dredgenious!
Awesome - just bought mine 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Hey Rob. When I saw this guide I immediately went to my desk to check on the airbrush.
Owning the H&S Infinity KYIV Edition I wanted to see if I just missed the issue with it "not being responsive". It would not come witha surprise as I have only a much more cheaper brush to compare against.
However, I found the KYIV Edition to be extremly responsive. The moment I touch the trigger I can see the needle move.
Hi thanks for the feedback on the new kyiv addition not tryed that version 👍the hack works great on the infinity I have
I only found the trigger to be delayed after using the custom micron then going back to the h&s it seemed delayed
You're a treasure. Bought this airbrush so that it would be "good enough for anything I'd do" but was annoyed by this single problem only.
Luckily I also have Dremel, so using your precise instructions was a breeze. Thank you so much!
Thanks I'll being doing this.
The issue has always been there for me, But since I was using urethane paints for years, it wasn't that bad. After switching to acrylics I found it to be unusable, or at least not worth the struggle. This makes the Infinity the brush I imagined it to be when I bought it. I have noticed a rub however. The quick fix needle limiter is not quite right, I know you don't use it, so you may not have noticed. I may trim the sleeve on the limiter where the butt of the needle goes in.
Thank you SOOO much!!
This is great stuff. I'm about to buy my first airbrush and settled on this one for miniature painting. Then I saw reviews complaining about this issue. This is a very logical solution! I like that it also doesn't void any warranty! I feel safe buying this airbush again now :) Thanks!
They are brilliant brushes as standard build quality is great and the easiest brushes to strip down 👍 with my hack just gives it that little
Bit more finesse on the trigger response
@@dredfxcustompaint Is it possible to use the trigger lock when the washers are placed? I can’t predict the lock with the washers. Do I something wrong? (I have the Ukraine edition infinity)
@@morphf-RUclips I will try my one it's something I never use as you should master the full trigger movement
I understand that.
But unfortunately I have some tremors (some day more then the other) and use it mostly for miniatures…
So it can ruin (for me) 3 days work 😮
@@morphf-RUclips I see will do another video soon on this so you get to see it in action thanks for the feedback much appreciated 👍
Excellent vidéo
Nice one rob, you have revolutionized the h&a, so now you need a big paycheck from them I suppose. Lol wouldn't that be nice
Thanks @Dred FX, thats a mighty upgrade on an allready great brush. Now all I had laying around were some head gaskets for a Badger 100-200. Is that the reason I now have to set my needletravel (screw on the back) at all times?
When your new washers arrive, put those in your needle tip and take the old ones and adapt them for the trigger fix.
I 3d printed a 5mm diameter 2 mm thick ring and it worked perfectly.
Nice one 👍 thanks for the feedback on this 👍

Hi Mark welcome to the channel enjoy the ride 😀
@@dredfxcustompaint I'm still finding it hit and miss with the 0.2 needle, maybe I need to thin more or up the pressure, or just put in the 0.4 needle in it. I've never found much joy with it, the Iwata I have was less than half the price and just feels so much better, I have a Procon Boy WA coming from PlazaJapan on Tuesday and I suspect that will also feel better.
Tak właśnie zrobię😊
For how long and how many airbrushes has H&S made and how many R&D experts designed and test their brushes... and they don't know how to take slack up in a trigger. Vorsprung durch Technik yeah right.. smh... nicely done mate!
I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD MAN !!!!!!!!!
anyone having infinity , and looking for egronomic grip , you can put the badger finger and thumb rest plactic piece .. i got the sotar 2020 and had ordered the handle for airbrush like grex makes , i had to remove the black plactic thumb rest for sotar to fit in the handle , and i screwed the thumb rest to infinity and its bit more comfortable
Kind of makes you wonder what the H & S engineers do in their spare time? Awesome fix, thank you.
H&S is owned by Iwata now, so I guess they pay them to do notning 😜
@@Pavelek88 No excuse for not fixing a problem
@@leroy5007 no excuse, but still might be the reason
I highly doubt they have engineers on staff.
The design has been around a really long time. They are not redesigning anything and it’s all just production.
I have the original 0.15 Infinity CR Plus, had it for several years and it gets zero use because of the crappy trigger response, this should not bee an issue with a$300+ airbrush, and im suprised to see its an ongoing issue apparently with H&S airbrushes to this day. I will stick with my Iwatas, H&S lost me as a customer years ago with my first purchase from them.
"im suprised to see its an ongoing issue apparently with H&S airbrushes to this day"
The good news is it's been fixed on the new brushes, sadly no help for your brush unless you do the washer fix.
The bad news is that the same company that owns Iwata owns H&S so you are still their customer either way.
had three h n s and went back to iwata specifically a takumi and will never look back. every time i went to use my h n s airbrush the next day the needle was stuck so had to clean and disassemble before every use, and always cleaned and or flushed after every use
Hi.... Mine also have veil in hole where the steel chrome round part goes through the oval hole i brass machined part. So needle still wait a couple of hundreds μ before moving. Maybee depending of how used, worn out brush is?
hmm, This is one of those situations, "why the heck didnt I think of that". When I got my procon PS-270 and 289, my Infinity vanished in to my box of airbrush bits and bobs, and havnt used it for probably a couple of years. was thinking of selling it multiple times and try a Grafo T1 instead. But I'll give this ia go now for sure. Ever tried th egrafo T1 btw?

People have said this has always been a problem and the techs at the company haven't used other brushes to notice the difference.
I have to ask why is that part machined back as far as it is if it introduces slop? I'm sure this is obvious from a design and machined standpoint. You wouldn't even need a physical brush to see it on the plans.

Thanks mate! I found if you just press hard enough on a flat surface the teflon washers will press onto that piece without needed the burr tool.

I have no play on any of my 4 H&S guns and the paint flows instantly if thinned correctly. But I will try this and maybe is makes them even better.
Do you own any other brushes like an iwata or are the H&S brushes your only ones if they are you would have got use to where the trigger
Is for paint as I found out using H&S from the start then picked up a micron and I could see the difference in trigger 😳 so went and did the hack
And it made it on point
@@dredfxcustompaint I do own a bunch of Iwatas as well. Although they are better than the H&S in regard, it is hardly noticeable. The only play in my triggers is from the hole that the trigger shaft pasts though the half moon back lever. But as soon as the backlever moves, the needle moves.
What size washers did you use in this video? Just curious what to look for at the hardware store.
White size of washer did you use? I don’t have a gauge
I think they implemented the exact same fix when they introduced the giraldez version of the crplus. They will probably update the rest of the infinity/chameleon line with the same bit.
👍
This seems like a weird design flaw to me. Which is a shame because these brushes are otherwise fantastic. Thanks for sharing this!

Hi Dred FX,
Great tip you show here.
I m going to fit it on my H&S Silverline soon. One of my best airbrushes but yes I found the trigger effect a little bit delayed when working under 15 psi.
Do you think adding washers like this could improve the performances of an H&S Ultra?
It's worth a try definitely my infinity now is quality 👌 and my evolution thanks for the feedback much appreciated all the best dred fx
I just tried it in my Evolution. With the o-rings I cannot pull the trigger all the way back. It even gets dislocated if I try hard! So, no go for me.
Have you tried it with one should be OK I have two in the evolution solo not a problem
Does anyone know if the new Giraldez suffer from this problem? I can see it couldn't fit the washers if it does, because it doesn't have a round shaft.
Don't know if this helps but you can turn the trigger round so the back of it faces the front of the airbrush it feels slot more comfortable that way cheers
Hi thanks for the feedback I know these brushes very well the trigger is the next hack to do so stay turned 😊
First of all, thank you for the helpful videos! Especially for me as a beginner! What is the conclusion after 9 months? Has something changed on the airbrush or has damage occurred? I also want to install it in my Infinity because the trigger also bothers me, like a broken clutch in a car! Cool tip! Thank you very much!
The Brush works fine with the hack 👌 no problems
i tried it with some washers that i took from the rotary tools cutting dics , they were bit thinner than the teflon washers so i put some extra , but the result was ,there was alot of reduction in triggrer travel , the more i added ,more the trigger travel reduced to the point where i could not flush any clogs by pulling the chuck from cut away handle . I carefully checked and the little cylinder type thing that is at the front of the nut shaped tube housing sits flush to the walls of the slot in the trigger , then without washers is checked trigger by pulling back just a mm and there is no play as the walls of slot sits totally flush on the nut shaped tube housing and the little round cylinder sort out guides and locks in the slot .
I think the art tools channel is right there is something to do with the front end it self ..
i was bit worried about the play which is bettween the golden curved lever hole through which the trigger shaft passed horizontally but when we press the trigger for air that play is eliminated ..
i guess its the harsh truth that it is so difficult to do xtra fine lines with infinity and yet thats what i wanted from it and spent 400 aud on it .. and only after my purchase i came across the vedio of the artworkshop chanel . and i realised i fffed up .
i have not tried 771 but my advice to any one who is thinking between infinity or 771 go for creos . . i have had bad experience with sparmax gp 850 fan cap as well .. round cap is fine but there is no point i got it for fan pattern .
i recently started practice again and i think the thing the has helped me is i figure out the distance i have to pull the trigver to get fine line the wind the fluid control and leave little bit more room for triigger travel from that point . and then when it stops you can free pull on the trrigger with little force and if paint still does not come i clean the tip and can confidentily pull the trigger fully as it would be ristricted to the point where i get fine lines .. and when the clog is stubburn then unlock the neddle limiter and flush out by using chuck nut through the cut away handle
Nobody is gonna read all that.
