There's no question that without the DB killer it sounds better. Much more throaty with deep rumble. It's hard to tell what the volume is like in real life from computer speakers though. I would imagine it to be loud...just not sure exactly how loud.
Let me just say, without the silencer in, it hurts my ears without a helmet on, and standing next to it. With it in, it's loud, but without the booming basstone.
Tremonte that is why I always wear ear plugs when I ride and the helmet....thanks for the video. I pick up my 17 ninja 650 abs tomorrow.....plan on getting same exhaust.
+Lifted_Above I just leave it out altogether. It's hard to get an accurate sound through a video, but it has a great tone without it. That, and it's a royal pain to line the bolt up that holds the silencer through the hollow, carbon tip.
A full system aftermarket exhaust will always be louder than a stock exhaust :D because aftermatket exhaust never had any catalytic converter on it. The db killer will reduce the noise significantly but it will still be a lot louder than a stock exhaust :)
Nice vid man! Even with the db killer in, is it still loud enough to keep you happy? I just got a z650 i need something thats louder and sounds better than stock
The audio doesn't do it justice. Yoshimura is one of the best sounding and performing exhausts on the market. Even with the db killer in, it will make you smile. I'll be throwing up a comparison video between stock, the Yoshimura, and a Delkevic carbon system soon, now that I have all my fairings ready for the Ninja. I will be able to do side-by-side since they are the same exact engine and drivetrain.
Hey Tre, how do you like this exhaust now that you've had it? Is a power commander or the like a must? I'm torn between this Yoshi Exhaust or the new Leo Vince Evo One. Also, I like the SC-Project SCR-1...the SC is a bit more pricey though. I need suggestions lol. I got a 2019 Ninja 650 ABS.
@@Tremonte thanks, oh id really like to tune it, I saw your rapid bike video..I'm not sure the difficulty installing them yourself and then getting a map...or if there's a shop that installs and tunes in my area in NY.
@@mrmuncheez374 here you go. I installed a Bazzaz system on a Ninja 650 and did a video. ruclips.net/video/dWBGGTyP83s/видео.html Same procedure for a Power Commander or Rapid Bike. The cool thing about Rapid Bike is you install, enable auto tune, and ride. One module, and it will always adjust to future mods.
I too have a 2019 Ninja 650 and I also live in NYC. So I’m curious as to which one you decided on getting and where did you take it to have it installed?
@@RamsesNYC I have not tuned the bike yet. I went with the Yoshimura Alpha Works full exhaust and it's freaking amazing. The bike sounds so good and it definitely gave it more power. I am definitely planning on doing some type of tune, the bike runs fine without it, but you can tell it will be better once air/fuel/ignition etc gets dialed in and it will smooth out the throttle response. I can shoot some flames with this Yoshi pipe though lol 😂. On down shifts especially from 4th to 3rd, the crackles and pops are cool but I'm not sure that the bike is really supposed to do that and I am not sure if long term it's not good for the engine. So.. It's either Rapid Bike ECU, or I'm going to have a shop about an hour from me tune and dyno the stock ECU. He said that's really the best way but who knows everyone has their opinions lmao.
I am trouble putting in the dB killer in my Kawasaki z650 , it’s just not going all the way inside the exhaust. Any tip put in the dB killer inside the exhaust.
Hey man! First of all, so good to see someone tuning his Z650! Just got the bike myself and I'm following your lead when it comes to some of the mods and loving it so far. Just got one question: do you know if the db-killer reduces power at all, perhaps due to reduced airflow?
When I did all of this, the Z650 was new to the market. So, there was very little available for aftermarket. An air filter wasn’t available. I’ll be adding one in the future.
@@Tremonte I'm confused by this..on yoshimura's youtube channel they have a video on how to insert and remove the db killer and he says that all their exhausts are designed with the insert in mind for max power. Have you ever dynoed with it in and out? Thanks
It can, but only to a very small degree. A restriction in flow, will be a reduction in peak output in many cases. It all depends how you tune the bike. With, or without it.
+Bawb17 honestly, this video is the only time the baffle has ever been in the bike. It had also been tuned with a Rapid Bike ECU, so I never noticed any changes in the short ride.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE I’m very new to bikes and I am looking to get a 2018 ninja 650 What’s the difference between a “Slip On” and “Full System” Also which one should I get to make my bike sound like the one without the “DB Killer”?
+Ajay Hood the exhaust for these bikes are a single welded design. There is no slip-on available due to that. The exhaust linked in the description will fit the 2018 Ninja 650. The DB Killer is not installed from the factory.

I just installed this on my z650 and I can tell you it sounds really good without the DB killer, but it's also sorta loud too!
Installing mine this weekend (weather permitting). Can't wait to hear the difference
Can we put it on a ninja 650??
Wish I can hear a higher RPM.
Sounds good without the Db killer

So, in other words... would you say that it is obnoxious without the db killer?
It's not obnoxious in the open, but if I fire into up inside the building, that's when it will ring your ears.
is it worth not putting the db killer? I really don't want to bother my neighbors lol
Does this increase the ground clearance? If yes by how much? Thanks for your videos.
Could take a hacksaw to the silencer and shorten up the inner part, get the best of both sounds.
+Lifted_Above I just leave it out altogether. It's hard to get an accurate sound through a video, but it has a great tone without it. That, and it's a royal pain to line the bolt up that holds the silencer through the hollow, carbon tip.
Is it easy to put the DB killer out ? And does the exhaust with the db killer do more noise than the original exhaust ?
A full system aftermarket exhaust will always be louder than a stock exhaust :D because aftermatket exhaust never had any catalytic converter on it.
The db killer will reduce the noise significantly but it will still be a lot louder than a stock exhaust :)
I have my 2023 Z650 and im not sure if is should still get the Yoshimura Alpha exhaust or something else. What would you guys recommend?
so glad i found this channel! i just got a 2017 z650 as a present from my parents! looking to mod this *()@#$% out of it.
Congrats on the bike! Hope you enjoy many miles of riding, and thanks for watching!
U got some cool ass parents. I had to get a job, move out, become fully independent before I could get a bike lol. They didn't support it at all
I had to fucking join the military to get mine.
From your parents? Hahahahaha
yeah.. why would you ever mention that?
After install this exhaust, must I map ECU??
How loud is it compared to stock, with and without dB killer?
Hello man I have The Kawasaki Z650 2022 And I Want To put this type of sound what can I buy for my 2022 ?? Thanks you for reply

I'm a fan of Yoshimura. Good price point to performance ratio. And, no need to tune unless you really want to.

it's 8.5 - 9 lbs lighter.
