Appreciate the honest feedback. Been on the fence for a few months now about what to buy for the family. Thinking the RMAX4 is hands down front-runner at this point. Unrivaled quality and best CVT transmission with a warranty to back it up.
You got it man! Yeah, this is by FAR the best machine for a family! You're going to love it! Be sure to check out my other vids when you get it, I have some maintenance stuff on here, how to's, etc. Thank you so much for watching!
Real video by a real person. Thanks for the no drama point of view. I’m still torn between the RMax XTR, General XP 1000 Factory Custom and the Commander XTP
Hey, thanks a lot for the nice comments! Yeah man, lotta good machines out there today, you really can't go wrong with any of them... So I was in your situation for sure!!! BUT, the Yamaha build construction, overall quality and suspension sold me. I REALLY like that this machine is basically good to go, right out of the showroom.
Nice review! As far as the seat belt alarm issue, its called a seat belt bypass and you can find it on Ebay for less than $15. I had to do the same when I put harnesses in my YXZ, just a plug under the seat. And I agree Yamaha is killing it. The only issue I've had in 5 years is a flat tire!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Yeah man, take a look at my RMAX seatbelt video, it was super easy to bypass, only cost a few cents worth of electric tape.
That's good to hear man! 7,200 miles is no joke either! Sounds good to me! I hope I never have to use the winch, but I'm glad that I have it for sure! Thanks for watching, appreciate it!
I was die hard Honda my whole life until I started looking into the RMAX and I plan on selling thee ole Rincon for a down payment on one of these bc these are awesome. I'm really impressed 👏
Dude same! I'm a BIG BIG Honda guy, but this RMAX has changed the game for me! I can't begin to tell you how much fun this thing is for both work and PLAY! You're going to have a blast when you get one!
@@BarnStangz I appreciate the videos I'm definitely planning on getting one. I've watched 3 of your videos and I like your honest opinion bc all other videos I couldn't see many flaws so to here it from someone not sponsored is good to hear. Good Bundy hill video also, I love that place 👍👍
@@JoshSmith-vj3yb Yeah man, I have nothing to hide and being an owner I'll for sure not sugar coat anything. I work too damn hard to bullshit around with some fake reviews, or not being honest. People need straight answers when they are spending this kind of cash! So far so good with the RMAX. The only thing I think is sort of a waste is the Adventure Pro. It needs WAYYYYYY more development.... But I can moan about that another day, lol!
@@riceuser18076566 Bro, I'm a HUGE Honda fan, and it was VERY hard for me to skip on the Talon, but after what I've been reading I was pretty hesitant. I'm sure that the Talon would have been good for me, but when I also heard about how harsh the suspension was from just about EVERYONE who had a X I said forget it. I'll wait for Honda to figure out the suspension issues and the sub trans issue, then I'll think about getting one for a second machine. This RMAX is REALLY nice, I'll be keeping it for the long haul. I think you'll like it too. Thanks for watching and commenting, appreciate it!
Thank God for this guy making this video, I've been waiting for Yamaha to do this and upgrade my commander. Really appreciate it. Definitely getting this exact machine.
Thank you SO VERY much for the kind words! It's a GREAT machine and you're going to love it! Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad my "no BS" review is helping other people out there!!!
Wanted an XT-R and scoured the net for months; however, they were sold out everywhere! Luckily, I found a base model in white... needless to say I didn’t waste time purchasing it! The XT-R is nice, just wish Yamaha had more stock readily available for purchase without leaving the state of Ohio.
Yeah man it's crazy hard to find these things! At least you got a base, you can always add the D-Mode switch, check out the RMAX Facebook groups, some guy has a "how-to" for making your own D-Mode switch that works just like the factory piece! Glad you got the machine! Enjoy it!
I know what you’re talking about with the Yamaha build quality and fit and finish. My YXZ is by far superior to other side by sides. It even beats the Honda talon in my opinion and Hondas were always known for their build quality. I have almost 4000 miles and the machine has been perfect. There are numerous other YXZ owners that have over 10,000 miles with no problems and still on factory clutches. The point is Yamaha makes good quality machines!
100% man! Yep, I agree! Yamaha has just been getting better I feel like. The last 10 years, Yamaha has stepped up their game immensely! I liked the Talon, but the Typical Honda fit and finish isn't as good as this Yamaha and I'm pretty picky, lol! Thanks for watching!
@@bothetinman772 EXCELLENT decision my friend! I just got back from a 6 hour trail ride and this RMAX continues to impress me! I LOVE IT! And you will too!
Regardless of your machine, your need a shovel, pins to winch to, sledge hammer, extra cable, antifreeze, oil, hose clamps, tie wire, a spare tire and wheel and a jack, a well stocked tool box, spare fuel. Depending on your area, a saw and axe. I carry a pickaxe to rock hunt with and as a walking stick, plenty of drinking water and some food. Warm clothes, A means to start a fire. Maps and compass because gps doesn't always work Finally a phone and a buddy with a reliable machine. Some items may be added depending on the ride. Don't forget addequate equipment for your trailer.
I am glad you found it helpful. I am going to be posting a follow up video soon. It's a great machine! Thank you so much for watching, I appreciate it greatly!
Thank you very much for watching! I will most certainly follow up with more riding and seat time! This is the best part about the internet, being able to share with others! I'll make sure everyone knows if there is a problem!
Wow, very exciting bro. Looks like a super well made machine. So many comfort details built in. Very impressive. Looks like a great buy. My buddy has a big family and just bought a four seater can am turbo. But like you mention, right away he bought four new bigger tires and better seats. He is also getting a custom roll cage and windshield. I can't wait to give it a spin in the desert out here. He also is thinking of entering it in the baja 1000 or 500 in mexico. They have UTV classes now. Let's get your kid and enter your rig next year. LOL. 500 miles of wide open Mexican desert at full throttle. 🤣😂 You can stop for tacos if you get hungry. 😜
Dr. G!!!!!! Thanks for watching! Yeah, this is a nice machine, we're going to have some fun with it for sure! Looking forward to all the adventures. Depending on the weather situation next weekend, we might head over to this place in Michigan to test it out! I have a feeling when you test out your buds rig you're going to want one too! They are fun! It's like a mini trophy truck honestly! Baja race in Mexico would be intense for sure. My son drives this thing pretty well, but when you lay into the throttle you need to be ready, it gets up and goes pretty quickly! I'll have to see if there are any UTV races around here, probably not, I bet most of them are farther East.
Thank you so much! And thank you very much for watching! I really appreciate it! It's a GREAT machine, finally got some good trail miles on it the other day!
I came from a can-am commander 1000 and I’ve been looking at the defender and the rmax. This video definitely has me lean towards the rmax. I’ve been a Yamaha guy my whole life. But I’ll be getting the 4 seater. I know I loose the dump bed, but I like the short wheel base so I’m ok with that trade off. On a side note, my commander was similar with the seatbelt, I just kept it plugged in and ran the strap behind the seat. Thanks for the review though.
Hey man, thank you for watching! Yep, all I can do is give people my honest opinion on this thing. The more informed, the better. My buddy has an 800 Commander and it's been good to him. There are a lot of great machines out there! The RMAX 4 is a sweet machine too! I have not seen one in person yet, but if it is anything like this unit, it's going to be a winner for sure!
@@BarnStangz So I got the RMax4 and I’ve had it a couple years now. It’s the 21 XTR like yours. It’s amazing on the trails, in low gear and diff lock it’s a freaking mountain goat. My only two complaints is that it doesn’t have the square wheel setup like the two seater and the adventure pro isn’t my favorite. I did just get the Yamaha YXZ XTR so the RMAX isn’t lonely. It’s a 21 so it matches too.
This is definitely on the short-list. However, I'm not buying anything until inventory levels catch back up with demand...not a lot of wiggle room from dealers in my area right now haha. I'd honestly rather a yxz, but I'm absolutely going to drive one of these before committing. Good review and I look forward to more vids. Hopefully this purchase gets you some more subs.
Hey, thanks a LOT for the kind words, would love some more subs for sure! And thank you very much for watching, but yes, for sure check out the RMAX when you can! The YXZ is a sweet unit too, so you can't go wrong there. I could see one of them in my fleet too at some point. It's going to be interesting to see when the supply chain can catch up. The dealer I bought from, while they aren't a power house, still sells a LOT of units and they told me that they wouldn't get more than one XT-R this year and maybe one more next year. They think that there will be supply chain issues for the next few years. I don't think that will be the case, but who the heck knows these days...
@@BarnStangz I agree on the supply/demand split taking years to catch up. I honestly feel like it will come down to making the call on taking the hit on cost to just get one or accepting it's going to be years before I get to own one. You know, is it worth the money savings to miss out on multiple seasons of actually using one? probably not, but I do ride ATV's already, so I'm not exactly waiting on the sidelines with nothing to do. Either way, the market sure didn't go where I thought it would through all this haha.
@@drwinlied 100% agree with what you are saying. I too have quads and dirt bikes, but REALLY have been wanting a SxS, for YEARS actually, so I needed to just pull the trigger and I'm glad that I did. My son and I are making some great memories with this thing! But yeah, it'll be interesting to see how everything play out!
Hey buddy, my two cents. If you only do slow crawling and need a dump box style bed then I’d buy the R-max. If you do some slow crawling but want something that halls ass as well and can rip the desert and sand dunes at high speeds then by the YXZ.
we have a 2015 can-am outlander max xt 1000 2up we bought brand new, live in hot ass florida, haven't had any problems with it, i see a lot of can-am bashing online, i think people that talk shit about can-am don't say all the facts about them beating them to death, treating the machine like shit, driving it harder then it's designed for. then when something breaks, they bitch about the machine, not their own irresponsibility,, and i'm sure i'll get shit for my post, i don't care, i love my can-am
100% agree with you man! The people that love to bitch are also the ones that don't lift a finger and maintain their rides. Sad. I have plenty of friends that all have different machines, some seem to be built weaker than others, but if you maintain the machine and don't do too stupid of stuff, they all seem to be okay. Thanks for watching and thanks for passing your opinion here!
@@BarnStangz damn right, my mom is a die hard polaris owner,, she's never had any issues, we take ours in for scheduled maintenance and i take care of it,, $16,200 brand new,, i'm not going to mistreat my machine, and i don't want to be broke down in the middle of the woods with no way to get it back home, , i am not against any brand, i love yamaha, they don't make a 2up, but anyway brother,, stay safe and you have a really nice machine by the way
@@woofman4796 Thanks for the kind words man! And I'm with you too, these things are too expensive to mistreat them. I don't mind pushing them, but I'm not going to seek out doing dumb stuff. I'm a fan of them all too, people can get what they want, at the end of the day it's all about having a good time! You stay safe as well brother! Thanks again!
Very nice, did you check out the 850 as well when you where considering this machine and if so, what are your thoughts.... great job, and congrats on a awesome machine!
Thanks for watching! While I checked out the 850 a while back, I didn't like the door style and I really wanted a bit more power, so I decided to hold out. I actually just got back from doing some pretty decent trail riding and I'm going to do a follow up video tomorrow I think, so stay tuned! This is one HECK of a great machine!
No problem 👍 Thank you so much for watching. I replied to your other comment as well. These are great "do-all" machines for sure! The RMAX is more sporty than utility, but you can still do plenty of farm work / chores with it.
Thank you so much for watching! I didn't think about getting a good in car run. I'll have to do that in a future video. Both the RMAX and new Commander would be good units. From what I've seen, I still think the RMAX is better then the Can Am. I feel like the Yamaha is built better and has a better drive system. Either way, you'd be happy with either machine. Let me know what you end up getting!
My friend has the Paddle Shirt YXZ and it is a rocket. I would bet the Ramx os faster. My only concern is the position of the motor. Can AM moved it back for better attitude and belt access. Mine will get more ranch miles than ride miles so cab heat as it's 119 at my ranch now is a big concern. Thank you for your time and effort in you videos..
Excellent no BS review, love it.!!...so how many miles have you put on and have you have any issues with it or complaints so far? Also, is this engine new or was it used in any other vehicle? Im nervous buying first year engines... Thanks
Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it! I have about 130 miles. 100 of them are hard miles. Absolutely NO issues what so ever. This 1000 mill is based off the 850, so nothing is super new, just a little different. I hear you on buying a first year product. I NEVER do that, but I knew that Yamaha had done their home work with this one as they have improved on the last few generations. It's a REALLY nice machine and I think it's going to sell VERY well for Yamaha. Definitely check one out if you get the chance.
Great review, thanks. Any plans on using it for snow plowing? We just purchased a summer house in Michigan and was looking at the 4 seats version of the RMax and also the Honda Pioneer 1000-5. The Yamaha costs more but has more standard features and the interior with the seats and center console is awesome. I just wish the Yamaha had an open rear diff setting the the turf mode on the Honda to keep you from tearing up the grass if you are doing yard work.
Thanks for watching! Really appreciate it! I would LOVE to plow snow with my RMAX, but we really don't get that much where I'm at. When I do need to plow snow I have a decent sized diesel tractor that does that job. While the open diff setting in the Honda is nice, I think you'll enjoy the RMAX much more! When doing work on my property, I really don't think the locked rear of the Yamaha is that bad unless you are making VERY tight turns and getting on the throttle hard. Believe me when I tell you that I really like Honda products.... But the Yamaha offers better bang for the buck since you really don't need anything else to have a good time, work or play. Good luck with whatever you end up getting! All this stuff is so much fun these days!
This is a great review. Honda makes a very reliable machine, but something to consider If you plan on carrying passengers on more than rare occasions; the rear seats in the Honda are horrible. I have a RMAX4 on order and may plow with it here in Michigan.
@@chrisanderson1449 congrats on the purchase. Which trim level and how long of a wait? Whereabouts in Michigan? We just bought a second home in Grand Junction and don’t close on it until April. I’ll need something for the following winter, as we have a long gravel drive and no one plows the dead end road leading up to our house. Also I know the rear seats slide forward to make more room in the bed. Do you know if they are also removable? Thanks.
Hi Steve, Technically I have the xtr and LE to choose from at my dealer. They have all 3 trims on order and I am first in line to pick. Right now my name is on the xtr because I may want to have different suspension settings in the front vs rear, where the Le sets all 4 shocks the same. But, I watched a video from Shock Therapy that has me leaning back to the LE. They did a nice job explaining why the iQS shocks are worth it. My plan was to add the stereo in the xtr, so really the difference to the LE is about $800. Plus that blue paint is very nice. I have a couple weeks or so to decide. Not sure of the exact date yet. Your new home is about 1:45 due south of me. Lots of great trails up here. As far as plowing goes, I sold my plowing atv and bought a tractor / snowblower, but I have a long gravel drive. It is not as great as I thought it would be. A plow is very likely next winter on the rmax.
Steve, the seats require 4 bolts to be removed from the tracks to get the seats out. I owned a 850 x4 xtr early this year and the rmax seat setup is almost identical. However, I did not remove the seats. There is nice room in the bed with the seats slid forward.
I got mine oct 7 . I suscribed to your channel and look forward to your video s . I live in Canada . First one to get a Rmax in my town . I did like you and put a deposit the next day of the reveal . My 2012 Suzuki kQ has 19,000 hard km .
Awesome man! Yep, glad to hear you got it right away! It's a great machine with not many faults. Thanks for the sub, I really appreciate it! 19,000km on the King!? Wow that is impressive! I'm sure this RMAX will be good to go for a long time. I just did my fist oil change, will have a video of that soon!
@@BarnStangz Yeah, really unfortunate. Been driving my 16 RSpec for 4 yrs now, and it's a great all round machine...but like you, have been researching and talking to a lot of people on the new Yammie. Covid messed up factory deliveries up here..Nation wide.
@@GnarlyChicken For sure man. Yeah, it sux, the supply chain I feel like is going to be messed up for a while, at least until Summer of 2021. But keep holding out man, the RMAX 1000 is a GREAT unit! I normally don't like to buy "first year" anything, but I was tired of waiting for a good "do all" SxS and this is the hot ticket for sure! My buddy is in the same boat, he has an R-Spec and wants to upgrade to the RMAX, but can't find one. Give it time I guess.... Thanks again for watching and commenting.
Great review dude. Just wondering how good is the engine braking ? When going down a gnarly hill, is there engine braking then at a certain 1500 -2000 rpm it free wheels like my Polaris sportsman xp1000 causing you to almost lose control?
Hey man! Thanks for watching! The engine braking is REALLY nice! I haven't gone down any REALLY big stuff, just some small hills around here and it is pretty noticeable for sure! You WILL NOT free wheel with this machine going down hill, that's for sure!
@@gwood701 I was completely BLOWN AWAY with how good the engine braking is! I couldn't believe it man! I was going down a pretty long steep section and only had to stab the brakes maybe twice! VERY IMPRESSIVE!
Thanks Mike! We'll have to make some trails, I think a mini truck would be better for you down there, as you could do more work with it, but this thing has a little dump bed, so it can do some work too. Really enjoyed watching your new videos of the cabin man!
Dude yeah, the Adventure Pro isn't the best... I hope they do more with it. It's not terrible, but it could be a LOT better. If yours is acting up, for sure get with the dealer ASAP! Also, check to make sure that it's installed correctly in that cradle. I know I missed the way it lines up a few times and it wouldn't work right. Honestly, it's a terrible design. Otherwise, yeah, the machine is an absolute animal! Yamaha built one hell of an amazing machine! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hey man! Thanks for watching, I'm in Western Ohio, near Toledo! Grew up on the East side of the state in Geauga County. You're going to LOVE your new RMAX!!!
@@BarnStangz Hello neighbor!! I am from just south of Toledo myself. Really hoping to see one of these machines at Honda East and probably getting one myself.
@@duanedierksheide4770 RIGHT ON! For sure man! I know that Honda East is getting some more, but I don't know if they are getting a XT-R or not. I'd say give them a call and ask for Nathan. Just mention that you talked to the guy that bought their first XT-R. He will take care of you! Let me know how it goes!
Considering buying one. Watched vids on the Honda oil change and looked about the same as this maybe even a little more of a pain…..as to the seat belt could you just make a blank copy and just stick it in there?
Thanks for watching! Dude! I love this machine! I'll probably get a second one at some point for my old lady. I have a video on here that shows how to defeat the seat belt, takes like 30 seconds. I still do wear it when I go riding in trails, but around the farm, yeah, it had to go for sure! Thanks again!
Hi, I was also wondering about interior cabin noise levels? It was always a big reason why I never wanted a SXS, but I was told the wolverines are relatively quiet...also any sqeaks/ creeks /rattles in the cabin yet?? Thanks
Thank you for watching! There is cab noise for sure, since you're really close to the engine. I wasn't really expecting that, but then again, all I'm use to is stuff with a conventional transmission. Not a CVT. So, having said that, the noise isn't terrible, but it's going to be a bit louder then some of the earlier Wolverine's I feel like. Also keep in mind, that this unit is "sporty" so the exhaust is tuned a bit more. I'm pretty much use to it now and you can still talk to people in the cab as long as speed are under 35 MPH. No squeaks, rattles or any funny business. This is one hell of a solid machine and I'm still very happy with my choice of machine, especially for it being a fist time SxS!
Just got my Limited edition. Great so far, just breaking in. Can you tell me the normal operating temperature, can't seem to find that info in the owner's manual.
Thanks for watching and I'm happy to hear you got a new machine! Operating temps vary, this thing can run sort of hot, I've seen 210 sometimes, but while riding I'll see 195-205 pretty much all the time. The Weller Racing tune will get the fan to come on sooner.
Is the Rmax 4 designed to easily be able to fully remove the rear seats? Instead of folding as advertised, So you can maximize the trunk bed capacity. Thanks and congrats....I’m looking to purchase in soon.
I was wondering the same thing. It would be nice if they just slid off the rails and you could stow them away in the garage until you really needed them.
Ive been wanting a sxs for years now, i just cant justify a $450 payment for something that would sit in my garage 90% of the time. Awesome machine though!
Oh believe me man, I hear you on the insano prices of these things. I have been saving for about 3 years and I also sold a few dirt bikes and (9) 3wheelers so I was able to pay for this thing outright. If I couldn't have done cash for it, I would have kept saving till I had at least 1/2 of the amount, then the payment isn't too terrible. Buying shit like this can be financial suicided for sure if you're not careful. I appreciate you watching thank you!
Right on! I have a 14ft single axle that works really well for me. I feel like it's not too big and not too small. Thanks again for watching and you're going to love the machine!
So if I count well you have 6 free switches on the center console and 4 others right of the gear lever? thats a lot. I guess the 4 switches are for electric windows on the 4 seater. And there is just a piece of rubber to remove, nothing to drill or cut, well done yamaha
You got it man! Yeah, it's SO nice, you just pull the little rubber tab and you're golden! I like how there is plenty of room for switches and then you can just toss the rubber plug in the glove box and have extra floor drains. They REALLY did their homework on this machine for sure! I LOVE IT!
Thanks for watching. Monthly for insurance I don't know, I paid $200 for 12 months. That was with Progressive. So, monthly, I'd say would be right around $20 maybe, depending on your age, where you live, where the SxS will be stored and your credit history.
@@BarnStangz I'm fifty and always bought used atvs and never had to insure them. I believe that this is the side by side that I have been waiting for. In 2019, I thought that it would be the Talon, then in 2020, the KRS but after all the fuss and waiting, this may be one. Congratulations and thanks for the info.
@@raypabs5374 Thanks very much for the kind words! I've always bought used stuff until I got into my 30's and could afford stuff more. There was no way I was going to buy a used SxS, unless it was from someone I knew well. Since most of them get ridden hard and put away wet. I was in the same situation as you, wanted a Talon but have heard negative stuff about the sub trans and shifter, KRX is nice, but way too underpowered. I think the RMAX is the best of everything, sporty when you need it, but still offers nice utility.
just curious about the front shocks. i just purchased a rmax 2 myself. iv noticed the smaller coil on the top is almost if not completely compressed with a TON of threads left above it. is there a reason for this set up? seems like a lot of wasted suspension if this is the factory recommended setting. thanks.
Thanks for watching! Yes, I've wondered that too, but I don't know if they are going for some kind of dual rate spring combination or what. I sort of think that the little spring is harder to bottom. This would be a good question for the Shock Therapy guys. Sorry I wish I was of more help! I do know one thing, for stuck suspension, it feels pretty good to me, or at least what I do. Hope you enjoy your new machine!
Highlighted reply Shock Therapy llc 2 days ago This is common on almost all UTVs. Especially the Polaris models. This is a cheap way to stiffen the system to pass the government roll over test. It does sacrifice ride quality and why we sell some many spring kits. We are currently working on a spring kit for your UTV. Taking pre load off will just lower your utv. That upper will always be coil bound
Can you do a test with the trailer? I'm planning to buy one very soon. But I want to know if it can handle towing a trailer and still has enough power to go/maintain full speed (what is the max speed anyway of the RMAX alone???). I live in Belgium, trucks can drive max 90Km/h (+- 57Mph) on the road, so I want to be sure I can stay ahead of them or even overtake them with a trailer attached... If possible load it to it fullest towing capacity... We can drive on public roads here (if it has license plate and assurance etc) --> also do you know if it has a towing hitch with an electrical socket for the trailer lights? (Don't know how it's called in English... as I'm natively Dutch speaking)
Thanks for watching! I only had a trailer on it once and that was just for moving around a 72 inch rear mount mower for my tractor. I didn't have to move it far, but it did fine. I would be more than happy to do a trailer test, but it's going to have to wait a bit, we have WAY too much snow on the ground. I can't even get my trailers out! There is no trailer plug in the back for lights, but it wouldn't be hard to tap into the brake lights to figure something out. Make sure you sub to my channel, I'll get you a trailer tow video at some point. I think it would do well for you! It's a great machine!
@@BarnStangz sub'd! Quick reply 😉 Well planning to buy it like... very soon as in... now lol... so can't wait for that test lol... I've seen a vid it doing 73Mph so about 117Km/h which is way over the 90Km/h I want 😊 It was RMAX alone, no trailer so I hope with 500-750Kg trailer (+- 1000-1500 pounds) it'll reach +90Km/h... and has power to spare to overtake a truck lol...
@@ASUSfreak It's got plenty of power, trust me! And I think in the near future we're going to see some exhaust and plug-in tuners that will add even more power. I think this engine has at least another 10-15 horse power left on the table, maybe more.
@@BarnStangz This is Belgium... Not allowed to change anything on vehicules... Let alone finding parts for upgrades. And sending parts from US or CA might cost a lot. Price, shipping, tax and the risk not letting it pass into Belgium, cause it's not bought local... Even if I had the tuning parts, I can't install them and I don't believe retailers do. Also waranty will be void. Yay 😌
@@BarnStangz Also... I always wanted the YXZ 1000 R SS SE. Just not sure if it can have a towing hitch... And when I spoke of a trailer I meant something to go on holiday with (don't know the English name for it) --> it's not a caravan, but a sort of trailer with a tent attached to it which fold into the trailer so it's more compact than a caravan while driving... (youtube "Alpenkreuzer" then you'll see how it looks like...) And that's the reason why I need plenty of power... Also the RMAX is legal to tow 2000 pounds (assurance wise etc), not sure about the YXZ... So I'm sure there are aftermarket towing things for the YXZ, but I need to be sure it is legally OK to tow stuff like that in case of an accident etc...
Even with my windshield, it's not bad at all. My daughter was with me when we were out riding at Michigan a few weeks back and it was close to 90 out! The only thing she complained about was the dust, lol. I've been in a LOT of other machines that can cook you alive, this machine definitely isn't one of them!
Thanks for watching. Probably pretty close. I remember being inside a 2019 General and I didn't feel like it was too cramped. But this machine has lots of room. I do feel like the RMAX is more comfortable however. Again, I'm only 5ft 8 inches, and not super huge, like 180 lbs. So your mileage may vary. Probably worth sitting in one to be sure!
It's REALLY good, I'm not that huge or tall, so it's VERY easy for me. The doors shut well and you can get in and out without slamming your knees into stuff. Believe me when I tell you, I get in and out A LOT on a farm! Thanks for watching!
@@dogman3811 I hear ya! But the way I look at it, you don't need to do much with this machine. It's got good 14" wheels and 30" tires (that are a square setup). Braided stainless brake lines, 4500 pound Warn winch, full doors, Adventure Pro, roof, 108 HP is good, nice Fox QS3 shocks all the way around... I mean, yeah, you're spending a LOT but it's pretty much in line with most other machines in this category. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Thanks for watching. I bet it's the heat shields by the engine and cargo box, mine rattle a bit too. I've also noticed that when it 2wd there is some backlash from the driveline. I really wasn't too worried about it. The drive line noise I only heard when braking hard or braking down hill. Can you make and post a video of your noise? I'm sure it's nothing to be worried about, have you had the first serviced yet?
Thanks for the sub! Means a lot man! I've got some footage of Bundy Hill in Jerome Michigan. I tossed the whole hour of it up, but I still need to cut out all the "dead wood" so to speak. It'll be in my "follow up" video about this unit soon! Thanks again!
I've had an XTR 2 seater for about a month and a half, it is by far the best machine in it's class, as in the General, and ABOVE it's class, as in better than a Talon, and probably the Polaris xp 1000!
Where do you live I live in Albany New York my friend just purchased a Polaris general XP 1000 $24,000 we seen that machine in the show room looks pretty nice do you really like it did you consider the Polaris at all
Thanks for watching. I considered Polaris a while back, few years ago honestly, but as I did more research and talked to some friends, I didn't want a Polaris. Their fit and finish, build quality and warranty all seemed pretty bad to me. I have a few friends that like their machines, but they hate always working on them. I also have a few friends with Yamaha products and just do basic maintenance and are good to go. I have also been on rides with friends with Polaris RzR's and one of them usually has a belt problem if they push things hard. I do hope your friend has good luck with his XP, just keep it out of deep mud holes and maybe keep an eye on the belt situation.
I sure do! Great build quality and even feels good ripping in snow! The only thing that I've noticed is when the machine is DEAD cold in my shop, so, about 30-35 degrees, it takes two attempts to start the engine. It'll fire the first time, then die instantly, then I crank it again and it's good, it'll idle and be fine. I feel like the computer needs to be flashed a bit, or tuned to make it richer during a cold start. I think it's going to be interesting to see what sort of future products that we'll see for this machine, it's VERY popular. But yeah, over all, I'd still recommend the shit out of this thing! It's been all smiles so far! Thank you so much for watching!
What was it about the adventure pro that you disliked? You said you were going to talk about it with the dislikes, but I don’t think you did( or I missed it)
OH DAMN! I completely skipped over that part! So..... Here is the thing about the AP. It's REALLY cool for what it is. BUT... (and I'm a computer IT nerd) it's using a pretty ancient version of Android. It's also missing a LOT of the core android stuff, like the play store. Probably because they didn't want to pay extra money to have it on the device. SO... That means it's hard to get stuff like Google Maps installed. You can try to "side load" certain apps, but you risk messing up the operating system. So... While it's really neat and cool showing the gauges and maps and other stats, it's still a bit limited if you want to do more. I think with time more people will try to hack it and I hope to see some future development(s) for it. I want to mess with it further, but I don't want to "brick" the device. I guess we'll have to see what the future holds. But yeah, that's what I was going to say in the video. Thanks for catching this and thank you for watching!
So sounds like it’s same AP as got for my 2019 yxz from dealer last year...def ancient tech and frustrating for price you pay that it’s so limited....tho I’ve heard it may double as a display to accept a rear view camera on the rmax? Can anyone confirm this? Far as steering wheel and seats everyone says are great... they are exact same as what’s in the yxz since 2016 lol. Tho seats look to had added inserts but overall frame and padding are same. No complaints they are good factory seats for sure.
@@davisexcavating7144 Thanks for the feedback man! Yep, I'm sure it's the same AP. I'm pretty sure that you can get a rear camera to work, you just need to find a API or already coded program that can be sideloaded without needing the play store. I know that some probably exist. I use some security camera software that can be sideloaded and really it's just finding a compatible camera and hooking it up. I didn't know that the same steering wheel and seats came from the YXZ, that's good to know. I never had the chance to drive or even sit in one, but I'll have to look for it now. I do have a feeling that we may see some more development for the AP in the future, now that I think about it... Thanks again for watching I appreciate it!
@@davisexcavating7144 Thanks a lot! I'm going to be changing the diff fluids out in the next 50 miles, so I'll make sure to post a video about that one too! Appreciate you watching!
Yes, Yamaha has a full line of accessories including a full glass windshield and heater. You can get windows and all that too. Check out www.yamahamotorsports.com/ and thank you for watching!
Japanese always has the best quality. I own two Polaris right now a 2002 Polaris Ranger 500 4x4 and is awesome I love it and a Polaris trailblazer 250 never ever ever gave me a single problem. But my 3 Honda fourtrax and my Honda’s XR350 and XR500 are my favorite. Yamaha is outstanding quality similar to Honda or the same. But Amigo your Yamaha is super awesome but your camera audio Sucks big time
Thank you for watching and thank you for your feedback! I'm still looking into which camera setup to get. I like the GoPro's since they are easy to move around and pretty rugged, but I also have been looking at some DJI stuff. I like the idea of having a mic hooked up to me, so I think the DJI setup, with a camera that can also follow me might be the hot ticket, so to speak!
You included a lot of good information in this. If we were looking to buy one we would watch it for sure. What part of Ohio are you from?
Thank you so much for watching! Western Ohio, let me know if you're ever out this way!
Nice and honest review. Thank you for taking the time to share with us all. I purchased a a 2023 XTR and love it, coming from a 2018 Pokaris Gener
Glad to help! And thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it! Hope you are having a fun time with your XTR! Such a great machine!
Don't forget 10 year belt warranty, impressivre, good job Yamaha.
Great point!
Just bought mine Saturday! I love it! My first SXS 🙌
Awesome man! It's my first SxS too! LOVE THE THING!
7200 miles on my 2019 YXZ, no winch and never been stuck. I do carry tow straps, but never used them.
That's good to hear man! 7,200 miles is no joke either! Sounds good to me! I hope I never have to use the winch, but I'm glad that I have it for sure! Thanks for watching, appreciate it!
Almost 4000 on my YXZ! Bulletproof!
Congratulations on your new machine. Thank you for the review. Patiently waiting for mine. Enjoy it!
Thank you so very much!!! It's one HELL of a machine, you're going to LOVE IT!
I'm a Honda man but really looking into Yamaha.. this thing looks awesome
It's now in my garage. 1st one in northern Wisconsin. Loving it.
@@NomadicNorthwoods AMWESOME MAN! Glad you got one! The more miles I rack up, the more smiles!!! ENJOY!!!
This was the best review I watched about this machine. Very complete!
Thank you very much! That means a lot to me! Glad you found it helpful. It's a great machine, I think Yamaha will be selling a lot of them!

Maps and compass because gps doesn't always work
Finally a phone and a buddy with a reliable machine.
Some items may be added depending on the ride.
Don't forget addequate equipment for your trailer.
Thank you for watching my videos, it's greatly appreciated! Your list of items is a good one! I hope more read this as well!
This is just the review I was looking for. Thanks.

Beast of a machine best of luck with it!
@@bothetinman772 Very cool! Yeah man, they are great machines! Still loving every mile I put on mine! Can't wait for some snow riding!
Sad.
Took them long enough, but should be a great unit for us on the east side of St Louis that need a bit more versatility than the super sport models.

thanks for the video. Looking to buy one of these rmax's.
No problem 👍
Thank you so much for watching. I replied to your other comment as well. These are great "do-all" machines for sure! The RMAX is more sporty than utility, but you can still do plenty of farm work / chores with it.
Great review man. The “size of a toddler’s head” made me laugh.
Thanks for watching!
Randy will approve the massive gut comment 🤣🤣
In car video sound would be a nice add. I'm looking to either go the RMaxx or New Commander in the XTP model. Thank you for all the information.
Thanks.
Hi Steve,
Technically I have the xtr and LE to choose from at my dealer.

Yeah bro thanks for the reply
Mines and Meadows... where you from man? I'm up near Punxsutawney. Hope to pick up a 4 seater in the next week or so. It's on a truck somewhere, haha
I have the 2017 SE. GREAT review
Thank you very much for watching! Hope you still enjoy your SE!
Hi,
I was also wondering about interior cabin noise levels?
Thanks for watching!
I'm pretty sure you have to unbolt the rear seats if you want to fully remove them.
Really want a one hopefully one day haha nice bike man
Thank you!!! Appreciate the view man! Hope you get one too some day, you'll have a blast!
Nice vid, liking this rmax a lot.
Thank you so much for watching! It's a GREAT machine!
Deposit made yesterday! Just looking for a trailer...
Right on! I have a 14ft single axle that works really well for me. I feel like it's not too big and not too small. Thanks again for watching and you're going to love the machine!
Congrats; can't wait to get there myself!
@@drewjames8594 Thank you so much for the kind words! And thank you for watching! You're going to love when you get one too!
I LOVE IT!
I plan to buy and finance the Rmax4. Would you happen to know how much they charge monthly to insure these side by sides?

This is common on almost all UTVs. Especially the Polaris models. This is a cheap way to stiffen the system to pass the government roll over test. It does sacrifice ride quality and why we sell some many spring kits. We are currently working on a spring kit for your UTV. Taking pre load off will just lower your utv. That upper will always be coil bound
@@zachbrannon4290 I'll have to keep my eyes out for sure on this. Thanks!
On a warm summer day out riding how is the heat inside of the cab?
Even with my windshield, it's not bad at all. My daughter was with me when we were out riding at Michigan a few weeks back and it was close to 90 out! The only thing she complained about was the dust, lol. I've been in a LOT of other machines that can cook you alive, this machine definitely isn't one of them!
@@BarnStangz thank you for your reply
@@kylekuntz3383 My pleasure!
Hi! Is the rmax more spacious inside than in the Polaris General 2-seater
How’s the entry and exit if your getting in and out alot?
It's REALLY good, I'm not that huge or tall, so it's VERY easy for me. The doors shut well and you can get in and out without slamming your knees into stuff. Believe me when I tell you, I get in and out A LOT on a farm! Thanks for watching!
Was the roof stock? Or was it something you added?
Came with the roof stock! Thanks for watching!
$23,000 sould come with a BJ.
Running the rmax around 30 mph and up i have a knocking sound in engine area. Just wanting to know what everyone else's sounds like
Thanks for watching.
@@BarnStangz No not yet I got mine end of September will try and make video of sound but may be to much engine noise to hear it.

I've had an XTR 2 seater for about a month and a half, it is by far the best machine in it's class, as in the General, and ABOVE it's class, as in better than a Talon, and probably the Polaris xp 1000!
Thank you so much for watching and everyone appreciates your thoughts as well! It's a great machine!
Front rings are for a plow.
Thanks bud, yeah, but I also see that 1/2" shackles fit REALLY nice too! It's a great machine! Going to do a follow up video soon!
you still like it??

@@matthewcooper3780 Right on man, yeah, I guess they just program these things to be a bit on the lean side... OH well...
Definitely want one of these and look forward to more in-depth videos!
