Man, a video from Lance and a video from Daddy Hoff in the same hour. What a great day for coffee people!
My birthday and Christmas all rolled up into one! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
And sprometheus too
And Lance's takes the win for sure. Daddy Hoff is giving us peripheral coffee content
Hames Joffmann just released one like an hour ago too!
Right?!♡
Let's keep the history lessons going, Lance. Your latest videos have been excellent and the tattoo reveal? Sick as hell. Can't wait in a few years time where we can track the history of your channel through your arm-sleeve.
That Gaggia gilda tattoo is so cool
Brilliant video. Please do a series on these. These are proper beautiful to all the modern stuff.
Great history.
“…the only ever Gaggia Gilda tattoo.” This sounds like you’re challenging your viewers to get tattoos of classic espresso machines. 😉
Great video. Would love to see more history-focused content in the future!
Great video, as a proud owner of a 1983 Olympia Cremina it’s nice to see someone of your caliber doing a video on Lever Machines.
As a proud owner of a '67 Europiccola, there's nothing quite like the hand-crafted process of using a lever.
Yes, I have a modern machine as well, and I use it most of the time. But when I have the time, I just love using my lever machine.
Francesco Ceccarelli wrote an article on the Gaggia on The Lever Mag website people can read, in case you haven't seen it. IMHO, an important aspect of Home Espresso history is who managed to make it truly popular. In that regards, La Pavoni was a true commercial power house who spotted the small DP company espresso machine to make the Europiccola the success we know today.
Once more, a great video; thank you. It would be really cool to learn the history of home grinders as Well.
Love this video! Waiting to see the rest of those lever machines in the background!
More of this please, but longer and cover more of the machines.
Keep the history coming! We dont ask enough "how?" and "why?" questions anymore! These history lessons give us a glimpse into that side of espresso/coffee machines. Also I just pulled a delightful ristretto on my Cafelot Robot this morning. YUM!
Thank you for this history episode, I really appreciate you taking the time to do a purely educational episode!
Loving the lever series Lance, can’t wait for more. Thanks!
Lance, I absolutely loved this video. The machines are beautiful, and it's a nice excuse to delve into some history. Keep doing these!
Thanks Lance. Love to see these vintage lever machines.
What a video!! Loved it and the aesthetics of all of those vintage machines - More... yes please!
This is one of my most favorite videos of all time by this point, I’d love it you did more of this style of videos, it’s Informative and fun
What a beautiful espresso machine museum you have created!! Thank you for sharing this with us!!!!
I love this! I don't know if I'll ever get my hands on a vintage home lever machine, so getting a look at your collection is really fun, and the history of it is so interesting. Please keep these coming!
Really loved that history lesson, I will have more of these please
I love seeing these old machines so please keep them coming. My first espresso machine is a Faema Family which I bought new and still have though I haven't used it in years.
First of all, very well done video! The machines are simply stunning. Only you would have a tattoo of an espresso machine! I love you for that! ❤️❤️❤️
What an amazing, beautifully written and edited, video!
Wow, that Faema baby looks exactly like the Robot's grandaddy!
Good stuff man. Cool to learn about how home espresso started and the tat was a nice surprise. I also appreciated the smooth music and quality production. 👍
Love the history of espresso. Definitely want to hear more about levers!
Those classical beauties really need more attention from home espresso machine lovers. The shots produced by these manual machines are just stunning. Glad to see new content produced related to classic home levers !!!
A joy to behold, a story well told. This was a treat. I love history! And this helps me appreciate my old Gaggia machine from the 90s that I use now.
yes sir! I'd love to watch more videos about each of these machines and their workflow
Yeah the home lever espresso machine history is fascinating. I actually owned the Faemina and Caravel once but sold them as I really didn’t fancy the shot these made. But it was interesting to play with them and hold something that old still able to brew espresso.
Nice one Lance! I really enjoyed the history.
Just found this channel. This video was great. I'm only just now falling to the rabbit hole of espresso. Love it.
Love the shirt. Hope you're doing well. Thanks for all the passionate content!
Great video Lance. Recently have had a lever obsession started with Flair 58 and now rebuilding/modding a pre mil la pavoni professional. The experience with pulling a shot on a lever machine is the best don’t know that I’ll ever get a fully automatic machine.
Cheers! Thanks to you, your passion for coffee and high standards I am now brewing my own espresso at home like a professional with my Flair 58 and hope to get a hand of the ACS when it's released
Really enjoying your journey into the vintage levers. Just finished sending my wife off to school with a cap courtesy of my La Pavoni Europiccola. This stuff is pure gold. Thank you. That early Faima is a work of art.
Wow! Beautiful collection buddy! What a lovely rabbit hole to fall into. And that Tat? 🤩 As good looking as you! Cheers!
Love the style at which you took this video :). Go lever machines!
Great video Lance! ❤
Lance you are a gorgeous man and i could listen to you for hours and hours. Every video is just a gift!! Keep it up
Loved the video. Love your "obsessions". Thanks for this wonderful history lesson!
I was just thinking about this the other day if someone has done the history on espresso machines and their changes over time. I appreciate this type of archiving and making sure we honor the past and not just keep pushing for the future and innovation without giving credit to those who even got us here.
Thanks for this!
Wow!🎉 awesome video on the history!
Loved this video! Super keen for more lever content for suuuure
That's so cool! Yeah I definitely enjoy this kind of content!
loved the history. Lever machines are the best.
Thank you for this - it is precisely why Gaggia will always have a foothold in my heart. I appreciate a dedicated coffee house with skilled baristas, but I love being able to make espresso in my own home. ...and in the wide espresso world, lever machines not only make fantastic espresso, they look cool doing it.
This was a delight! Thx!
This video was awwweeeeesoooeeeee.
Love to see you try new things. And gorgeous tattoo
Great collection and interesting history lesson. Looking forward to the next episode where you give more attention to the next generation 😉👍
Cool video, man. Love the tattoo! I’ve been a La Pavoni user for a couple of years now. I have one of the newer machines (‘08, I think). I’ve modded it a bit, and upgraded the power cord and the internal wiring. I love how simple lever machines are, and how good the shots can get with care and practice 🤘
Friday after work, nice aeropress brew and Lance diving in history of espresso. Perfect afternoon. Cheers and can't wait to see these beauties in action :)
Honestly interesting video, good pace too
Always interesting even when I wasn’t looking for it!
Love it! I have the same Caravel, as well as a Baby and a La Peppina. Owning them makes me happy.
Cheers Lance that was really interesting! Wow the tattoo!
I'm a lever lover since I was taught how to make an espresso on it - saving up for a La Pavoni
Well the beginning of this brought back memories - I got to hang with Andy Schecter at the 2004 SCAA convention. It was when the SCAA had a consumer membership category. Mark Prince, Andy, Greg Scace, Ken Fox, Barry Jarret, Fortune Elkins, myself, and probably several other people from alt.coffee I'm forgetting all hung out for the convention.
I still have a V1 Silvia with a PID which was installed in 2001 - I've owned the machine since 2002.
After a day at work, what a nice feeling to make a coffee with my Pavoni and watch this video ❤️
Very interesting to learn about this stuff
I really enjoyed this video... Thanks
Good job on the ink !!!! And esspresso history ! A Proper contribution to THE RUclips WORLD thank you
I would love to see the Gaggia Achille, its a very beautiful and from what ive heard a very capable and easy to use lever machine.
I think you want to pronounce it the italian way: "Jilda". Beautiful !
They look so cool, I’ve always wanted a lever machine
Lance, I always love your videos and on this one, you may have outdone yourself. Bravo and thank you for always informing us and educating us. I have a copy of Enrico Maltose's book Faema 1945 -2010 that showcases all the great Faeme's produced during that period. Back then, a lot of thought effort was placed on the aesthetics of the machines that very few current manufactures come close to.
It would be cool to see a side by side of the same lever profiles pulled on the original machine vs the Flair 58 vs a flow control pump machine! I would love to know I should invest in a spring machine, or if a flair can deliver the same texture and notes as the spring or other levers.
Flair 58 can do the job !
Love these videos. Would love to learn a touch more about the quirks and workflows of the vintage levers!
I looooved this video! Important to know your roots! Also, the video editing and polish is a step up, too! Nicely done 👍
Thanks for not compressing the timeline of when you pulled the shots. Felt like I was right there with you. And seeing the tattoo reveal…now that was bad ass! Seeing the SworksDesign funnel on the portafilter was an interesting “moment” just kinda makes you realize how far we’ve come. Also made wonder, how did home brewers handle grinding coffee back then? @LanceHedrick do you have a vintage collection of grinders, too?
Super cool video, Lance! Love the sentimental vibes and history lesson. Also, a tattoo? Really?! 🤣 Love it...
Good history lesson, can't wait for ODSY review!
Both Lance and sprometheus dropped today!
love this episode!
Please continue with these videos of espresso history!
Loved the video!
Ooooh boy, we're in for a treat!
Wonderful, more in-depth vintage machine reviews with how to make the most out of these machines would be amazing.
Thanks ALOT! Now that you educated the hipsters, these are all going to be even more difficult to find and collect. Great video!
Great vid Lance! Really enjoyed the brief overview on the history of home espresso while drinking a delicious pour over, courtesy of Nomad Coffee’s amazing Rwanda Intego
Excellent video please do more like this I do enjoy all your videos and I don’t think you talk too much I think you should talk some more because this is a learning experience and I appreciate the time and effort you put into each and every video thank you
I also am a barista so I do enjoy watching all the videos I learn a lot if anyone who thinks you talk too much tell them like watching TV you don’t like the channel change it
I love that shirt so much
Great video!
Lance probably not going to see this but in relation to your asking about video length I just noticed you frequently mention in your videos that you're getting long winded or coming up on time and that really takes me out of the viewing experience. I'd say try to outwardly comment on that less or not at all and the videos will just be what they are. Love this type of content, very truthful to you and your interests and it shows
Very cool!
I love the obsession, I'm exactly the same, when I get an obsession it is all or nothing!
absolutely give us more content like this. would also be interested in the new lever machines, has there been enough innovation incorporated to make me want to upgrade from my La Pavoni?
Bruh, that tattoo was a surprise. Thanks for another solid video
I'd like to see more cool demonstrations with your other historic espresso machines!
Awesome video as always! I'm curious what grinders they used back then.
Thanks Lance.
thank you!
Hi @LanceHedrick thanks for great content you create, it teach me a lot about coffee. it would be wonderful if you add video about entry level Eureka grinder (Eureka Silenzio and Zero) since a lot of people cannot afford buying 600-700 dollar grinders.
Great video, as for the only tattoo in the world.....I hear Hoffman has a full back piece of a Gaggia Gilda, time to up your game Lance 😉
I have a Faemina and man, that thing is built like a tank! On a side note, the campeona is spanish brand, here in Spain you can also find some used Arin lever machines for sale. Great vidan beautiful tattoo. Thanks.
Ok, that tattoo is sick. Stay awesome Lance 🤙
that jacket is sick, fun video!
Firstly, the tat is sick Lance! Secondly, loved this video. Thirdly, I would love a video on how to optimise espresso on these lever machines that don't store enough water in the group head. Or is the answer simply to drink dark roast ristretto? Thanks for all the great content!
Antique espresso machines are so prettyyyytt
I’m with you on the history of lever machines! Welcome to the rabbit burrows!
Digging the new style, you seem more yourself. 👊
