"Greensleeves (a retelling)" - Lyrics by Erin Thomas

The lyrics were written by myself. The melody is of course ancient and well known, though in a way I suppose this is also kind of my own since I take some liberties with inflection and modulation.

I have loved the melody and chorus of "Greensleeves" my entire life. But even as far back as childhood the chauvinistic nature of the song has always bothered me. Throughout the years I have found myself experimenting with alternative lyrics, which I would sing to myself in the shower or while out walking. This gradually evolved to a full scale effort to create my own version of the song, one more suited to my own temperament.
This was recorded using Sony WH-1000XM4 earbuds, which does not have voice isolation or gain control for the purpose of recording video. But it's an improvement over using the mic built into my phone.
