I feel like everyone is missing the point of The Jacobs Family theme/message in Euphoria. Nates dad had a heavy, graphic porn addiction which later then affected his two sons in the future. Nate now clearly has a hard time respecting women and seeing them as human. This whole scene proves that. Women are ONLY potential mating partners to him so why should he talk to the girl with body hair that sits like a man, right? If a woman doesn’t want to mate with him, why should he even talk to them? Jules is a perfect example of this. Women are only something for him to toy with because of all the porn he himself is consuming and the example his father was setting for him; with a similar problem regarding toxic masculinity; not accepting the fact that a man can love another man and still be a man. I feel like everyone is missing the point of The Jacobs Family theme/message in Euphoria. Nates dad had a heavy, graphic porn addiction which later then affected his two sons in the future. Nate now clearly has a hard time respecting women and seeing them as human. This whole scene proves that. Women are ONLY potential mating partners to him so why should he talk to the girl with body hair that sits like a man, right? If a woman doesn’t want to mate with him, why should he even talk to them? Jules is a perfect example of this. Women are only something for him to toy with because of all the porn he himself is consuming and the example his father was setting for him; with a similar problem regarding toxic masculinity; not accepting the fact that a man can love another man and still be a man. It is truly one of the saddest things fragile, toxic masculinity has created and I hope that one day people will care enough to stop this endless, graphic cycle that eventually leads to a man putting his hands on a woman. (Maddie) It needs to be talked about and Euphoria did that, but like always, this is normalized and “boys will be boys” is sadly still heavily programmed into human brains at this day and age.
