I know Project Ares is a mod that adds new teams. After installation did you try making a new team using the new types available thanks to Project Ares? If not I can help troubleshoot this for you if you're still experiencing problems.
So this worked for the 'in-game camouflage selector' mod, but not for the 'project ARES' mod, not sure what went wrong. if anyone has advise, that would be nice.

But if none of these are it, let me know. 1: For Vortex do you have both the Vortex mods AND Door Kickers 2 on the same hard drive. If Vortex is on an external and DK2 is on internal and vice versa, that means mods will most likely not load or even work. 2: Does Door Kickers 2 have a mod folder? If it doesn’t that is most likely why you might be running into problems. 3: Did you make sure to update AND run DK2 before modding? Most games need to be ran once before modding, and they usually need to be ran once after an update before modding. 4: On Steam (I’m assuming your on Steam) did you try verifying your DK2 files In the settings, sometimes you have to do this for games, as mods can change and discard main files. 5: Is Vortex up to date? Sometimes mod managers not being up to date can cause some incompatibilities. 6: If none of that works, did you try fully deleting DK2 and reinstalling? The most basic one but it never hurts to try.
I really need some help here, when I try and load the game after putting a mod in the folder, it always says, without fail, "unknown equipment type bind"
Okay it took a while, but the main reason it does this is because of one of the mods. I use Tier One Overhaul all the time and never encountered this. So I assume it's one of the other two, or two of the mods not being compatible. "Unknown equipment type bind" is essentially the game trying to load a piece of equipment, but not finding it or the equipment not properly being named/programmed. This is nothing game breaking, but it is something that'll keep happening unless the mod creators fix this. Or Door Kickers 2's modding becomes a lot more simpler with updates.

Hmmmm, how many mods are you using? It's either the mods are no longer compatible with the game itself. Or if you're using lots of mods, then the mods are potentially incompatible with each other.
For the most part, trial and error is your best friend! Conflicting mods isn't always the worst outcome. Even if the mods conflict, if the game still runs then the conflicts aren't "too" big of a problem. Now if the game is unplayable with both mods enabled, than unfortunately there isn't much you can do. The only way to make mods not conflict with one another, is if someone made a compatibility mod. OR the creators of the mods make them compatible with each other.

Sometimes automatic updates can fail, and for the most part it won't update unless you manually tell it to update. And lastly, do you have ANY mods installed? I know the issue is you can't see mods, but even then, mods can still be a problem here.
It should be, I haven't encountered any problems still. But that's mainly because DK2 hasn't had any major updates in a while that would change anything.

Meaning if Winrar isn’t working it very well might be because Winrar cannot unzip the mod you downloaded. However again, I don’t use Winrar, so I can’t give a solid answer besides try installing and trying 7-Zip.
imagine dowloading a mod then when u go in door kicker the mod says (get hacked JK) also helped + idk why not much mods has vids showcasing them due idk what what do some has airsupport but not say in mod dowload etc + anyone got a mod of very op guns like insta aim etc?
