You can check Highway Dirtbike Offroad here: hdboffroad.com/ So far, I'm ❤loving the mirrors (just in case you couldn't tell). I'm also stoked to try the double-mirror setup. Have you tried a double-mirror setup before? What were your experiences? 👇
I just installed a set of these with the mirrors. These bars are twice as thick and strong as BarkBusters. They are impressively stout. The mount system is a quality set of parts that look as good as the Aprilia deserves; it isn't an old DRZ that no one cares about the appearance of the protection parts. The mirrors, at first, didn't appear like they would be helpful or functional, but I experimented and found that in conjunction with the OEM mirrors, I now have zero blind spots. These guards are definitely worth it.
As a follow up to my installation, here are a couple of tips. I had to loosen the clutch perch and slide it inward as the ball end was hitting the hand guard in its original position. I also greased the ball sockets of the mirrors- makes ‘em adjust easier. These guards should keep the levers safe from breaking. Good job Chad!
François - I was in the same boat! I was going to do the BBs, but very happy with HDB Offroads so far. I'll be doing some updating when I inevitably drop the Tuareg ;)
I just received mine and I am planning on installing them in about a week. Any idea what the torque specs are on the four top clamp bolts? Thanks for posting the vid!
Hey Eric, congrats on the bike and handguards! What I'm seeing (in the service manual char29/30) is 50Nm (I'd have to go out and look at mine again...50Nm sounds like a lot). The image is correct, but the note in the manual references that the 4 bolts are for the front caliper, which they are clearly not. The manual references them as M10x35, so hopefully you can use that value to double-check the size. I'll see if I can find any other note for the top clamp fastener spec, and then post another comment. Good luck with the install!
Magnus - Great question. I had a set of ASV levers from my 2021 Aprilia Tuono. I reached out to ASV, and they said they would work, but not with the OEM handguards. I looked at the clutch side first, and removed some material from part of the OEM wind guard support. That allowed the ASV perch to clear (and the install to proceed). I hadn't got around to replacing the front brake lever until after I put the HDB Offroad handguards on. When I went to install the brake lever, the ASV part that I have definitely will not work with the Tuareg. I'll be reaching back out to ASV to check part numbers and fitment soon. FWIW - I ended re-installing the OEM clutch lever until I get the front brake sorted. Ride safe!
Hi there great vid 1 question can the mirrors fold back without hitting the handlebars and without moving them from the position you had them in the video talk soon Marcio
OZ - If I understand your question correctly, it's about the mirrors on the handguards? The handguard mirrors rotate in (as opposed to folding), as opposed to folding, and there's a molded slot in the plastic shield where they fit into. Let me know if I mis-interpreted your question though. Happy to check fitment and ergos. Thanks! Ride safe
Hey Alex - I've not noticed any extra vibrations (or the bars being vib-y), but it's been sometime since my install, so may comparison may be lacking. I'm still running the HDBs and give them a solid 👍.
Hi, I noticed on their website is states *NOTE: In order to fit the Hand Guards you need a 28mm (1.125″) Aluminum FatBar (Adventure Bike Stock) Is your Bar still OEM? thanks
How is the clearance to the windshield and fuel tank when you go to the steering stops? Afaik Barkbusters for example need to be installed in a certain way or one of the bolts interferes with the top of the tank when the steering is max deflected.
Praxics - Great question. There's no interference with the fuel tank for either full lock right, or full lock left (plenty of room there). At full lock right, no issues/interference between the handguards and the windshield. I've tried 2 different windshields, OEM and PUIG touring. At full lock left, I had slight contact between the right handguard and the OEM windscreen. I wasn't planning on doing anything about that, to be honest (it was so slight). However, the Puig windscreen does have more interference, and I will be looking at making some type of adjustment. Ride Safe!
Bought them after I saw this video. Super cool. However just went to install and they sent me the wrong bars. Can’t figure out how to call them. Any ideas or help with be awesome.
I notice hat the OEM bar ends are not utilized. Does that not increase vibrations in th handlebars. I'd prefer a set-up where the OEM bar end weights could stay in place.
In my experience, out of the 3 contact points (pegs, bars, and seat), the seat is hands down my biggest complaint. I've not noticed any "vibey-ness" out of the pegs or bars, and I'm about 1/2 way through a multi-state trip, however that's just my experience. Ride safe!
Paul, I wish I had an answer. It’s been snowy enough for me not to get out. It’s really killing any content that I had planned. Hoping to find a good weather window and head south and west in February for some riding. I’ll post up some updates when I have them. Ride safe!
That depends on the angle that you place the mirrors and the angle of the hit as well as how tight you make the pivot bolt. I think in most crashes the mirrors will survive.
I ordered these and received them a couple days ago. They sent me the wrong ones but there is no phone number to call and they are not answering my emails. I hope we get this figured out soon so I can finish my review.
@@exploready Yes. I got a hold of them and the customer service was Awesome. They sent me the correct ones right away. I've installed them and would for sure recommend these.
Greg- you will still be able to rotate the bars, just as you would with a traditional top clamp. With the swivels and bar ends, you would be able to rotate the bar and the hand guards separately. That should work for everything but the most severe edge cases of bar rotation. Ride safe!
@@valikmoi That's a great question! Full lock right turn is perfect. Full lock left turn I get the lightest contact between the guard and windshield. I may add a very small shim to the steering "lock block", but I'll probably just leave it...

Brake lever looked exposed, underneath the guard, you might want to rotate them downwards a bit, are they hard to rotate at all?
Got a call fro Chad at HDB. Ordered a set with mirrors and am installing them as I write this. Great product!
I will be getting these when I get my Tuareg.Have them on my 2020 Beta 300rr
great video man, I was thinking about getting the BBs but the HDB really tickles my interest now. they look solid AF!

Same here, I was waiting for the Barkbusters to become available in the UK but I might as well order these ones form the US. Thanks!
@@exploready well I bit the dust and just ordered a set after crushing my (cheap) aftermarket hand guards :D
@@SuperCheesyMan Hope you're doing ok. Just the handguards?

Merry Christmas and Happy new year 🥳🥳🎄🎄
I noticed the hand guards don’t use end weights. Did you notice any increase in handlebar vibrations without them?

Is it me or is the left side bar bend closer to the bar clamp than the right?!?
Great Vid! Little Jarre Canyon road I see! Cheers .
It’s such a nice road. I certainly don’t appreciate it enough considering how close it is, and where it leads to…
My bar end bolt is definitely not aluminum. Did they change it?

HDB also offers an anti vibration insert for each bar end. It’s an interesting concept and works well.
Do you have the oem heated grips?
Crash, I don’t. I’d like to get them installed at some point.
