    Looks Great! Here a few ideas: 1. I would put a pull out shelf behind the shower for more storage. 2. I would replace those switches upstairs with the decora ones (flat style). 3. I would put a kick board on the outside of the railing upstairs to keep stuff from rolling to the floor below.

      Thanks, I appreciate it ! Good idea. I'll think about something like that when I get around to finishing that area . And yeah, I already replaced those switches with decora ones to match the rest of the garage. I hadn't thought about stuff rolling off but I do plan to put stainless cable up instead of pickets but I was thinking of putting some 1x trim around the edges just to cap all the corners so I guess that would stop small stuff from rolling of the edges once I do that and the cables will stop the bigger stuff. Thanks again, and I appreciate the input. It gets me thinking about stuff I might not have!

    Could you just install the water heater above the office, so you can use the entire closet for storage? Or if you can swing it, you could use a tankless water heater in the bathroom. The save on space and energy in the long run and they aren't that much more than a standard tank style. Great job on the mezzanine. I'm looking forward to doing mine one day, if my bank account would hurry up and grow up.

      You know I never honestly thought about either a smaller one I couldn't put in the storage area above the office or a tankless and now that I'm looking at the tankless water heaters they take up so little room I can probably just mount it on the wall downstairs under the bathroom up high about where I plan to put my stainless slop sink I have . Good looking out and getting me thinking about other options. Thanks again, I appreciate the kind words ! Haha yeah this garage and mezzanine have cost me way more than I planned to spend and have kind of bleed me dry too

    When dealing with hot water systems, it is never IF i need to service the unit, there is only WHEN i need to service the unit.
    That garage door looks heavy LMAO

      Yeah for sure , will definitely have to get to it again at some point for sure . Yeah it was heavy, I'm sure those springs are getting a workout picking it up

    Looks awesome ! It's OSB, not plywood, right ? Keep up !

      oh yeah you wrote "osb" in the title, it's kind of a language abuse when you say "plywood" ;-)

    • @kenschopshop
      @kenschopshop  Год назад +1

      Haha yeah your 100% correct it's osb and yeah I have always referred to all wood sheet goods as plywood when taking and don't even catch myself say it but I tried to at least get it right in the title lol thanks for watching and tge compliment I do appreciate it!

    How are you going to pipe the plumbing, etc? Nice vid!

    • @kenschopshop
      @kenschopshop  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks I appreciate that . I can't remember now if I showed where I have a sewer and water pipe through the concrete already but I'll just bring that up the wall beside the far left post to the bathroom and sink that beside the pipes on the ground level. But I might need to put in an ejector pump to push everything up hill a little to tie it onto my septic for the house but I won't know that for sure until spring as I want to get the tank pumped then anyway and I'll dig the lid up and figure out exactly how deep it is and if they think I can tie in with or without a pump or if I'll need to just add a separate tank and small drain field for the garage. But for the water supply I'll trench that to the house and tap off that supply from the well . Hopefully I'll do all this this spring and I'll document that when I do

    Hey ken this is sam i have a question for you I'm about to start running my armor cable in my building how did you secure your cable to the steel ? And did you go with armor cable or regular romex in your 2x4s ?

    • @kenschopshop
      @kenschopshop  8 месяцев назад

      hey Sam how's it going ! i used mc cable in my whole shop build and secured them to the steel frame work with fmc one hole straps and short self tapper screws . ill try and leave a link in this for the straps i used . the only area i didn't use mc was in the office and bathroom in the mezzanine but we brought the circuits into the space and used a junction box and switched over to romex since those rooms were framed 100% from wood . hope this helps and makes sense . here's the link to the straps i used

    I thought about doing this and losing shop space vs just building a small 1 bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen tiny home behind the shop

    • @kenschopshop
      @kenschopshop  Год назад +1

      Yeah it's a tough decision for sure , on one hand I added 450ish sqft of floor space but lost some clearance for tall stuff in the back 12' but at the same time the space under the mezzanine has a 9' ceiling. The way I have it setup now all my cabinets, tool boxes , and metal working tools under it . Hopefully I'll have a video up soon that shows all that soon
