Worked at a popular tourism sight. Was sifting through resumes trying to determine who was interview-worthy. Boss says “We’re doing something new this season. There will be a mandatory meeting of that day’s staff every morning. So everyone will be required to arrive 15 minutes before their shift.” I asked if the extra wages had been budgeted for. She just kind of looked at me. I told her that mandatory meetings that occur outside of scheduled time MUST be paid for. She said she’d check with HR and get back to me. Next time we spoke, she just said “Forget it.” Not sure if she was trying to pull a fast one or genuinely didn’t know a basic fact in the Alberta Labour laws. Either answer made me uncomfortable. I left shortly thereafter.

Worked as an outdoor shop welder. One day the boss wanted us to work through a rainstorm, most of our stations were flooding and the roof didn’t protect us that much from the rain, we refused. He kept saying it wasn’t a big deal and one of our guys threatened to call OSHA and the boss immediately backtracked and said he was “suggesting” to work. We ended up going home about an hour later due to the power going out

Told us we had to come in off the clock to ask for donations to the store so they could price match on turkey dinners for less fortunate families.
Then they had the gall to tell me that it was part of my contract for working there, and then, "I have to do w/e they ask of me". Nope, nope and nope!

Not me but after I left my old job before it crumbled completley. The graveyard manager was propositioning a young pretty employee, she was too shy to report him. Someone else found out and he was reported. The other managers and supervisors vouched for the creep except one supervisor. The creep then tried to bribe him with cold hard cash but the honorable supervisor didn't budge. The honorable supervisor was fired by the head of HR a few days later.

Reminds me of when I wished at a certain retailer that is known as a popular electronic retailer.
One employee would flirt with any woman regardless of age or who they were with, from underage girls to married women, customers and coworkers alike. He was reported to HR numerous times but because he was somehow, and I legitimately do not know how, the best seller our store had, nothing was done until one of our managers with ethics stated he would be quitting if nothing would be done.
Considering how many people had quit because of this guy, and complaints we'd received (and directed to freaking corporate because we knew nothing would be done in our store), this was somehow the straw that broke the camel's back.
I shit you not, the store implemented a policy if he was ever observed approaching the premises he no longer worked there every female employee would be told to work in the warehouse, take a break in the break room, or otherwise just get out of sight until he left.
Truly disgusting, both how long (2+ years) it took for something to get done - and, you know, just him being a garbage human being.

My uncle worked customer service at a grocery store and his manager roped him and several other into a money order fraud scheme. He was one of the whistleblowers, but still ended up getting fired and his union rep threw him under the bus.

2:40 pretty much the same story I have from a job interview at a hotel kitchen. I saw the menu and noticed on the front page it said somethng like "homemade food, as your heart, stomach and taste buds desire".
At the interview, they revealed that nearly everything they make is from a can or a bucket to keep costs low "and no damn person can taste the difference anyway". But what about the sugar-coated advertising on the menu? "Ah, well we do have recipes of everything, but that's only to show to the food authorities if they start asking questions". I noped out of the interview pretty quick after that.

The jeans issue isn't OSHA because they probably have no hazard while in the box.
It is a DOT and EPA issue because they are now hazardous waste, and you need to transport them as hazardous waste.

My late husband worked at a hotel and the owner constantly tried to " cut corners" by not paying work mans comp, social security or changing numbers on the night audit to make it " look" like the restaurant that was inside the place made more profit than it actually did. He refused to do this and the owner looked like a dumbfounded pikkachu after he explained to him that doing that is illegal..oh and mister Boss also threw a fit when trash service, laundry or elevator maintance didn't get done because those businesses wanted to get paid and he kept bouncing checks...
Every 3 months he ran off to his native country India because the IRS had some questions for him....He wasn't sucessful so he had to borrow from his wealthy family 😂 Every time you think you failed at life, think about this dude who had two PHD's....one in pharmacology one in Vetinary medicine, owned several hotel and still couldn't hack it and had to borrow from family.

If the customer wanted a better, lower price on the car they were looking to buy, to throw the print out of the deal on the ground and say “that’s as low as it gets.”

I know a guy who worked a government job and the boss asked him to falsify documents, he left soon afterwards.
