Just got my 70 bronco, only needs hood since it has a gash in it. Running Driving for 10k. Butttttt, needs some serious love. Painted camo, lot of grease build up on the Tcase and Trans. But the tub was in amazing shape. The owner prior to the guy I bought it from re did all the floor pans and rockers. I got a bit of a steal.
In 1990 I bought a 1972 that came from Arizona for $2,400. It was my daily driver and passed PA's annual vehicle inspection. I completely restored it in 1993-1994. I replaced the worn out 302 but essentially kept everything else. I just rebuilt or repaired what needed it. The body was in good shape. We stripped it out and did a frame on makeover. Sand blasted the interior, exterior, underside and engine bay. Changed the color to dark green, blacked out the underside and repainted the roof white. Back then I think my budget was about $15,000 but I did do all of it myself with the help of my late grandfather who was a Bronco guy starting in 1966 who owned a complete, full service garage and body shop so I was fortunate there. I still own the vehicle and my wife and I essentially take it for nice drives, out to dinner, car shows and ice cream stands. It has not seen rain, snow or been wet washed in at least 28 years. I still get a lot of comments about it and it still looks great. Now conversely, I purchased a 1977 Sport in 2010 for $5,000 with the intent of restoring it. It was rough. Body had major issues as did the frame. Was going to need a 100% restoration but everything was there to include all of the Sport trim, air, power steering and brakes with an auto trans. I never got to it except to start the tear down. Life just got in the way. I ended up selling it in 2012 for $25,000. The buyer looked it over and there was full disclosure as to it's issues. Just shows you what the market has done. The latest generation of Broncos pushed the market value of the Gen 1's through the ceiling....
I just picked up a one owner 72 bronco ranger with a 302, 3 on the tree, power steering, all the trim.... rusty but all there, even has the original hubcaps for $3,000
We have two Broncos , one is 1970 351 Cleveland 4 speed factory PTO winch roll cage no rust, new clutch. The 1979 XLT Ranger 351 m, captain chairs swing out tire rack , factory roll cage, duel tanks, tow package, Built for the forest service. both have new tires , new windshields. The 79 has 68.600 original miles original paint perfect zero rust so is the inside perfect like new . The 70 my man built it in High school in 1976 he was 17 years old, engine is out of a wrecked Cougar Eliminator, he worked part time for a tow service and had access to many parts in the tow yard , both live in are barn..?
Thanks guys for the great video. I feel so much better about the 72' Bronco I bought for $30k. Running, drives down the road 60MPH, doors don't drop, power brakes, 4 wheel disc brakes, patina original Mallard Green. Keep up the great work in educating us.😊
They are still out there. I paid 6k for my 1968. A guy that bought it wanted to get his money back out of it. I had also tried throwing a lot more money at others and was turned down. I got lucky!
Thanks guys! Just bought a ‘72 for $35k. This episode made me feel pretty good about that price. PS, PB, AT, rebuilt 302 w/22k mi, Dana 44 LS, soft top. New Discs up front. Was driving it that day after a battery and rubber fuel line. Won’t bore you with what I paid back in high school for my first cherry uncut rig. Hurts too much anyhow. Cheers!
I got lucky, bought mine sight unseen, guy meet me at the St. Louis airport, gave me the keys and I drove it from MO to ME at Highway speed. Haven’t had any issues in 10+ years. Best $12K I ever spent!
i just bought 2 1976s for CHEAP. its not terrible( ive built many Model A and this is much better than most of them) I gave 1000 for one in similar condition to the 16k one you just reviewed.
What if you find one that has a fiberglass body kit that has not started but all parts are included? I dont hear anything on Fiberglass body kits so I assume no one likes them.
I bought a 72 in 2018 for $1400, not running since 2008 and needed everything but complete with minimal rust in the Front floors, front inner fenders and one inner rocker had a soft spot. The owner was in prison and his sketchy family was happy to take my cash 😂

Whoa! Nice! You got a deal!!
Great video. Feeling pretty good about the value of my ‘72.
They are still out there. I paid 6k for my 1968. A guy that bought it wanted to get his money back out of it. I had also tried throwing a lot more money at others and was turned down. I got lucky!
Wow! That’s a great deal!
the more i evaluate and work on my '71, the more i realize stock was perfect...
Great video! I got my '71 20 years ago for $2100 and it's in pretty great shape but that's unheard of anymore!
Wow!!! That’s amazing

Wow! Nice!
...like muscle cars..them days are over.....i guess i'll just build my first gen. ford explorer sport 5 speed.🙂!
Btw, the fixing might be more fun than the driving 😎👌
Not more fun, but definitely wrenching and driving are favorites
I love working on mine as need and doing the maintenance. Labor of love!
Still dont think a full off restoration is worth 200k
It’s worth it to someone… and that’s why they get it
The market determines the overall price point. Meccum and bring a trailer the last 6 months have shown bronco values have taken a hit.
You know what they say, what goes up must come down.
Ford should have made the new bronco look like the old bronco. They would sell like hotcakes.
I got lucky, bought mine sight unseen, guy meet me at the St. Louis airport, gave me the keys and I drove it from MO to ME at Highway speed. Haven’t had any issues in 10+ years. Best $12K I ever spent!
Wow!!! That’s incredible
I drive it daily. I’m in AZ now, so any rust has halted. Love driving this thing, wife hates it. 😁
i don't think having the stock jack is logical however..
This is really good info guys! Thanks
My 22 was $30k, can’t beat it .

Fiberglass looks good, but it’s very good for resale

Haha! That’s amazing
I'm About 85% through a complete restoration. Parts and materials around 90K so it was a good thing that I got it so cheap. 😬
@@craigmaverick whoa! Man that’s crazy
Hey it has door inserts😅 it's only 8500.
Man I remember when that was a $200.00 Bronco
Seriously! And it wasn’t that long ago
Enjoyed the video
Thank you!
My 66 has a lot of diamond plate!
Haha! To each his own.
Just bought a 79 for 3k.
Lucky!
