I literally screamed when I saw this. I love when you post game of thrones related videos!
Thanks Paola! I'm have lots more coming.
Costume CO yes! And thank you for your hard work!
Ah I love that you’re doing hers, just because she’s not a lady in gowns doesn’t mean she’s any less worthy of discussion. You should do the costumes of scarlet witch/ Wanda Maximoff. You’d do her justice.
Thank you Gryffindor Princess!
Arya is my favorite character! Thanks for covering this topic!
Shannon Vlogs My pleasure!
The cutest serial killer of all of Westeros.
Arya killed Walder Frey at The Twins, not Winterfell.
Thank you Heidi..I liked Aryas costume pirate style in S5 and her black dress in S6 in Bravos and in S7 in Winterfell ..They are her most warrior/assassin creed type style she had ever wear in the show
Thanks so much for commenting My Jolly Sailor Bold!
When your theme music begins, I start feeling happier and happier knowing something fascinating is about to occur.
Ah, Constance, thank you so much!
I feel like every time they veered away from historical accuracy, there was part of the narrative. Her transformation of her darted dress into a sleeveless tunic was brilliant costume story telling, and I feel like the eyelets (or grommets) in her later costumes gives such a neat, noble look. I don't know how plausible grommets would be for a world based on 14th century technology, but I feel like if they have with how magical this world is, they would have found a way, perhaps with heightened moulding techniques.
Hi Amy, it's a fantasy show so they can really do what they want. I think I might have been pointing out the grommets vs eyelets to just show the techniques, but to answer your question, metal grommets are quite a late invention. But this isn't an actual medieval setting, more like inspired by that era. 😁
Great job! It's so interesting to see the thought & work that goes into the less ornate costumes.
Thank you so much and also for coming to the stream last night!
Thank YOU for your channel and live streams! You've inspired me to dust off my sewing machine ;)
Excellent job, Heidi. This is by far my favorite video! By the way, Herman Bumm’s Mum is a family joke.
Thank you so much Cindy!
This video is excellent. I am planning a cosplay of Arya's 7th season warrior outfit and this has been such a help to me. Thank you!
Thanks for commenting Lady! I'm glad you found it helpful. 😁
same, im planning on being her for halloween if all goes well
thanks for the video Heidi, thank you for all your work and all the details. I can't wait for your video on the costumes of Shogun world!
Ah, thank you so much! Yes, I'm going to do that video very soon. 😁
Please do more of these, it's really nice to see the styled evolution of individual characters trough the seasons :3
Oh, I will for sure. I'm going to start ramping up my GOTs videos over the summer. It's hard to believe that season 7 was aired the summer of 2017 and that we have to wait until 2019 to see season 8.
i'm loving your channel, i am learning and enjoying a lot ! Thanks!
mhorset Thank you so much for commenting!
Thank you, great as always! ☀️
Hey Heidi!
First things first, the wedding was a complete success. The bride looked gorgeous, and I looked fierce AF. If you want, I can send you some photos. Show you how Puerto Ricans celebrate a wedding. That way you'll see my face for the 1st time, woo! 😄😄😄😄
Second, I'm trying to finish my latest design. I might have it for you by Tuesday. We also have to set a time for the live streaming.
Now, towards the video. You know, I never really noticed Arya's neck roll in the Hand of the King tourney, shows how attentive I am. I find it interesting that it had acorn embroidery, since according to flower language, the acorn was the Nordic symbol of life and immortality. That's why I used it ironically in Emilia 's yellow nightgown the day her German father died (get it? German? Nordic?) Maybe there's a meaning behind the neck roll embroidery, since it's well known that both Clapton and Carragher like to imbue symbolism into their embroidery, especially for GoT.
Hi Tatiana! So glad to hear that the wedding was a success! And yes, we should plan the livestream as you mention I could have you and Aaron on. I'm just off to a conference (for my day job) I'll be back on Wednesday so I can email you about that.

"Maybe there's a meaning behind the neck roll embroidery"
The reason why Arya has acorn embroidery on the neck roll might be that she wears an acorn embroidered dress in one book chapter. The chapter takes place at Acorn Hall, the storyline for that was completely cut in the TV show, though. So maybe this is a nod to the book fans.
"I find it interesting that it had acorn embroidery, since according to flower language, the acorn was the Nordic symbol of life and immortality."
Really? Well, that's very interesting! I didn't know that.
Love it!
You know I love the extra comments about her hair! ;) Oh, it's really hitting me that I have to wait another year for more GoT. No crazy nail art...
Hi Emily! Hair's not my area, but I'll try to include it if I have some info about it. Will you do some nail art?
I wasn't planning on any GoT nail art until next season.
I still do GoT hair, though! I did Danny's Pyre scene hair when I went to my friend's wedding last month, ha! One person, who doesn't even watch the show, recognized it. I felt so accomplished!
I guess Danny's braids get more complicated with each victory (reminiscent of the Dothraki's braids), so I'll be sticking to her earlier styles for a while, ha!
Awesome detailed exhibition
Thank you so much!
Could you maybe do a video on the funeral costumes in Westeros?
That would make a good video. Let me look into this. 👍
Time to cosplay
What are you going to make!?
A very informative video indeed, have you considered doing videos on the series " the last kingdom"? The costumes used in that series appears a bit more true to history, but would be quite interesting as well. In the same vein, coverage on the show "Vikings" would be nice too... Lol. Please keep up the good work! Cheers!
gearhead1234 Thank you so much! I haven't watched the Last Kingdom but I've heard great things about it. I've just started watching Vikings so I hopefully I will do a video on that soon. 😁
10:27 Hmm...that's an interesting comparison, but I don't agree. I think both Sansa and Arya adapt to their surroundings in different ways. Sansa moulds her outfits to match the role she needs or wants to play, even if she's not conscious of it in the earlier seasons of the show. I think the main difference is just that Arya wants to blend in, while Sansa want's to appear elegant while fitting the fashions of the people around her.
Just quoting CD Michele Clapton here. Feel free to disagree with her if you want.
Thank you. I learned a lot. Will you be showcasing other characters? I hope so.
Hi Adarcus, did you look under my Game of Thrones playlist? I have a bunch of dedicated videos there.
Loved the video, but who is Genevieve LeFay?
Thanks Cor! She was one of my viewers. She passed away 2 weeks ago and I did this dedication because one of my other viewers is her nephew.
6:55 that means lots of vasaline in the hair, and it takes ages to get out
It's probably still in there!
Probably. I would use 3 times the normal amount of shampoo in the shower afterwards. You learn never to wash your hair beforehand as it'll just get a glupe of vasaline anyways (apart from one time when my hair looked so greasy they said i didn't need it lol).
I have recently discovered your videos and enjoy them greatly. I was wondering if you know what Aryas season 7 outfit is lined in ? Do you think it's lined in Cotton or do you think it's reversible with her blue wool vest?
Hi sasami! I'm not sure, but it would most likely be lined in the blue, because I noticed that Clapton most often lines her costumes with the sleeve or coat fabric. I can double check on my GOTs group too. 😁
If you don't want it to be hot, you could certainly line it in cotton, and just find or dye it with the same colour.
Thank you. any help is very appreciated
I love how the costumes reflect on Aryas sense of gender identity.
