Our choices at the time we were buying our 1st car was brand-new S-presso, Dzire, Brio, and Wigo back in January. Unfortunately, when we have enough money on hand to check on the prices in July, they all jacked up! The pricing of the lowest variant in January have matched the pricing of the highest variant. So we went on to choose 2nd-hand sedans such as Honda City and Toyota Vios. In the end, we have chosen Vios as with the same pricing of 10 year-old Honda City we get to have a newer Vios model. On our 6th month now, and never regretted our decision so far.

I hate to disagree but no, automobiles are only good as there are parking spaces, since many Filipinos can afford to buy a car yet cannot build/buy their own garages. Sakit ng ulo na yan palagi especially when they make use of sidewalks and widened road as parking lots, then they blame the government for the traffic. Buy what you need and not what you want. For todays generation car is a necessity not a luxury. Buying a car is like buying a cellphone considering the features and benefits. If you just want a ride to and from the workplace I would rather choose santana, if you are more into sounds and music and safety features and traveling with your family I would rather choose the city. If you are single, yupie I would choose vios because its reliable, efficient, cheaper and parts are cheaper, after sales is great because its available everywhere.

dami kasing mga tao na nagpo-post ng negativity sa ibang brands because of the country of origin, which is China. Para lang yang Kia at Hyundai dati, noon wala silang tiwala sa Korean cars, ngayon mabili narin sila, at maganda narin ang availability ng parts. nagsisimula parin kasi ang MG, Geely at Cherry dito, yun ang isang risk.

MG and Geely are dangerous choices for maintenance and afterlife support. Where you gonna get the parts? Would they be able to still provide parts 5 years from now? How do we know that MG and Geely are reliable and can stand the test of time that Vios easily flexes on?
On VW's case, it's German so we can fully trust them in terms of quality and reliability, I just hope the parts aren't astronomical in price and easy to source.
The Japanese brands are still by far the safest choices, unless MG can guarantee to the Filipino people that they're here to stay and support their customers for 20+ years to come.

The Santana, like majority of the VW models offered here, is made in China; so parts availability is no different from MG and Geely.

I'm pretty sure you can get parts from the casa. Geely's been here for some years now, and so far they're doing ok.
I know that's not the narrative people who are Toyota fans wanna push but objectively Geely has been on a roll. It's Coolray's outselling the Corolla Cross, and it's starting to get more attention as the years go by,
