The Thrilling 30 Jhiaxus was orange in reference to a toy of him that was a white and orange repaint of Beast Machines Deluxe Jetstorm, that was released in RID.
You can thank the old Universe 1.0 figure of him that was a repaint of Beast Machines Jetstorm for keeping the character in the fandom consciousness. Hell, that orange repainted served as the basis for nearly all of his modern interpretations, which in turn inspired his Thrilling 30 figure’s deco and look. I’m pretty sure in all TF media, he’s been orange longer than he’s been the classic white and yellow…

I never thought we’d get a G2 accurate Jhiaxus, especially at this price point! My 90s dream come true.
I had less than zero interest in the character as a kid. Didn’t care about the figure when it was revealed. Bought it because I was bored and wanted to steal his chonky 90s guns. Holy shit I like this figure. Proportions, character, head sculpt, even the utterly mental alt mode. He’s the figure I didn’t know I needed
I just got it today, so I watched this. And with this, I watched ALL of your videos, (except the Isaac stuff). "It's pretty good, right?"

He’s a stop light
I saw this guy in a Walmart and he just looked so corny with his colors. Then I saw a video on how cool his sculpt is and his mold, and I was like whatever man, he looks like a Play DoH dispenser. And only recently I found out he is a decepticon. Now let me tell you, It’s all good now. For some reason it’s ok now because, I don’t know, it’s like the evil clown thing so it’s ok. Let me phrase it this way. Have you ever seen the silly costumes runners wear? Like bee outfits or bunny suits? It’s like that. It looks silly but when your struggling for your life and some dude with a my little pony costume passes you like it’s nothing, that’s what Jhiaxus is.

On the topic of obscure characters like glyph and tapout that hasbro needs to do, Micromaster Detour, there’s exactly one of him ever with the exception of rotf dead end that was sometimes called detour and has a similar car mode

I never found anything to be cool abou Jhiaxus. If im getting this it'll be on the merits of an action figure rather than a character

sorry to stir the pot, but what exactly is the difference between jhiaxus, shockwave, and tarantulas? they're all mad scientist types. is one more conniving than the other?
if i recall correctly, jhiaxus is trying to "evolve" the transformers, shockwave is generically evil, and tarantulas is like josef mengele for the beastformers

Shockwave is easy cuz he's notorious for being one of the most cold and calculated Cybertronians out there. Dude has no ego, which it makes him scary cuz any decision he makes is done with the most objectivity possible. If he believes killing you is the most logical decision for whatever reason, he'll end you: no ifs, ands, or buts. He obviously takes no pleasure in his evil deeds and genuinely believes in furthering the field of science for the sake of it.
Tarantulas, on the other hand, relishes in his villainy and amorality. He loves his job so much and takes glee in torturing others to further his own experiments. Dude will dissect alive you like a frog and poke all your innards, saying things like "ew gross" before laughing his ass off.
Not sure about Jhiaxus, but from what I read he seemed to naturally slide into the role of being a bloodthirsty warmonger/torturer before realizing he needed to reel himself in so he could pursue his goals more efficiently. Dude had enough self awareness to try and control his more violent tendencies and seems to struggle with that aspect about himself a lot.
From what I've seen of the three:
Shockwave is cold, hard logic. He follows the numbers and patterns, and nothing more. That lack of empathy is what causes him to do such heinous things, and ironically clouds his judgement when it comes to what's actually best, as opposed to what's optimal. The only other motivators he has tend to be curiosity, and a sheer, focused rage that he represses constantly, but occasionally lets slip. He once solo'd the entire Dinobot squad just through that rage.
Jhiaxus CLAIMS to be cold, hard logic. He wants to control the narrative of history to propel himself and his leadership to greatness, and he's willing to fudge the numbers of whatever he does to get there, because he has enough intellect and sheer might to make himself sound credible. He was able to talk circles around Optimus in a discussion of ideals, but he did it by depriving him of context and information that would've made Jhiaxus's point look bad.
Tarantulas does things simply to satisfy his needs and wants. If Shockwave is law, and Jhiaxus is Neutrality, Tarantulas is pure chaos. He's just as likely to perform heinous experiments to make a day less boring as he is out of any desire to learn something or because he needs to further his ambitions. He's not a strong combatant, but if he's been allowed to enter a room first, you're likely not going to last against him with the sheer trickery and mindgames he's capable of.
