Serj has always been this "slow" with this song. You only need to check it with the MTV 2005 Awards and you'll see nothing has changed much (apart from Daron, who broke his "crying" voice long ago).
Just becavse Serj doesn't sound as "hyped" doesn't mean he's not having a good time - the dude is what 50+ at least? Give him a break! Some people can still enjoy themselves without jumping around stage. That being said he does not looked as stoked as expected to a crowd like that

For the young fans you just have to cherish their albums and live performances before 2004 to get a better understanding. This is not system you are watching. Watch the lowlands concert or the Irvine plaza concert to be truly entertained. System died with Hypnotize/Mezmerize.

I’d guess that most bands get bored playing 20+ year old songs night after night that they’d played a million times before, but of course, that’s what many fans come to see. For instance, Kurt Cobain hated playing Teen Spirit, and that song was only a few years old at the time of his final shows. Plus, it’s got to be hard to make your voice do what it did when you were twenty years old.
