Being to tensed or too relaxed will cause you to sink. It is about finding the balance. See how much you are missing if you would rather walk on water instead.

Demi isn’t on his level. He did her a favor by talking because she had no intelligent questions to press him with or intelligence feedback to what he said. He’s a nice guy like that and I’m sure he knew this coming into a chat with a celebrity singer.
