I agree with you on the 330i but I noticed you didn't mention the 320d which is the most popular in South Africa. Is it not available in Australia? I'm glad to hear that some of the active (not related to autonomous driving) safety equipment is standard. I find it abhorrent when carmakers (Germans are the biggest culprits) change extra for safety. Finally, thank you for an informative review.
Thank you for your feedback! You’re right - no diesel 3 series in Australia anymore. The PHEV is supposed to essentially fill that gap, though at the price it costs, it’s hardly a 320d style proposition. Totally agree with your statement in regards to safety. It should be standard!
Car prices in Australia is out of control. I live in Canada and a fully loaded 2023 M3 competition with Xdrive, carbon everything, premium package, advanced driving feature is $123k not including taxes. We do pay luxury tax on cars over $100k but I think it’s still not too bad. My fully loaded 2023 BMW iX 50 cost $160kCAD (paid cash) with taxes, luxury taxes, dealer fees, registration fees, dedicated winter tire setup, full whole car PPE, tints, etc. What would a car like this cost in Australia?
Hey Matt, a few more details on why you go the audi a4 avant over the bmw touring? All wheel drive? I'm after a sportyish wagon, coming from an old gen 4 liberty wagon. At the moment it's BMW, Audi a4, vw arteon or wrx wagon. No manuals 😔
How did Australians get that accent ?- it almost has a touch of South African and some sort of English variant? Of course to them - it would sound normal - I wonder how they would feel about my Canadian accent .
@@therightcar btw I do obsess about the 3 series - I purchased a 2014 328 X Drive and it now has 264,000 Km and it behaves like a Toyota Corolla in terms of reliability I replaced , a fuel sensor at 18,000 Km under warranty and some pulley belts under the extended warranty . Outside of warranty was drivers side door handle and a drivers side sun visor and a wastegate actuator. I am almost about to replace it but I really do love my 2014 3 F30 series. I find it is noisy on startup but is so relaxed and it really purrs when I reach cruising speed . It I also have a 2021 Z4 Misano blue with ivory interior with the B58 engine which is my summer car but really too much power for that car . I would lose my license if I really stepped on the accelerator - however I can feel the refinement in that engine. The 330 would be absolutely great for everyday driving but I do understand that B58 Engine is probably the best engine BMW has made . For approx $10,000,canadian dollars - I may get it again ….or just the 330 because my old 328 is so sweet still.
We looked at BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz and we ended up going for a Volvo S60. Love the car and we had over $25k saving on similar spec'd German cars.
The brand, BMW, has gone overpriced. Usually, a car or SUV would be at a 1.6x price in Europe than in Australia, but BMW's products are pretty much the same as in Europe and Australia.
All recent BMWs have an awful ride quality. Run-flat low profile tyres make it a bumpy ride, not at all a feeling of class or luxury. It makes your teeth rattle.
I would go for the M340i purely because it has a proper inline 6. Now that is a true ultimate driving machine. Not a major fan of BMWs with inline 4s.
Fair enough. There are so many 4-cyl BMW models though, that it makes it hard not to choose one.

That’s such a cool comment from someone who sounds like an American.

My shortlist includes this, the A5 and c200. All used.
But then the byd seal came on my radar.
Hmm
This black car looks very lovely. Your review is very helpful. All your videos are worth watching
M340i....if your pocket is deep enough....no brainer
Bang on mate.
They do not make the 320i anymore for the US market. They stopped making the 320i in 2018.
Cool. They still sell it in plenty of other markets.
94k for a BMW 330i is way off. I just saw a 2023 330i with red interior at 54k.
Where are you, though. Surely not in Australia!!
in germany its the 3 series starts at 43k
Quality video mate!
Thanks mate! Glad you liked it.
