The biggest problem with using a controller for media controls is the triggers. That is, when you place the controller down, you almost always hit a trigger and skip a chapter. It’s worth buying a dedicated media remote to not have this issue alone
Absolutely agree. I've also experienced this problem since the PS3 days.

Right, except for the fact that you can’t skip back and forth withe remote because it doesn’t have those pesky triggers that actually skip you back and forth….smh I wasted $30 on this

PlayStation’s have had HDMI sync features since the PlayStation 3 which allowed a TV remote of a smart TV to control the console through the HDMI connection! Very good feature!
The thing that still isn’t clear to me is whether the TV button on it is supposed to turn the TV off or not. Because when I press it, that’s what happens and the PS5 goes into rest mode as a consequence. If that’s the case they should have put a power symbol on the button.
I just wish that we can switch between chapters by using the left and right buttons...

You can control your ps4 and ps5 via your tv's controller if your television supports the HDMI LINK if it does your tv support you go to the settings in PlayStation and tv settings to enabled I don't if ps5 has already enabled for the beginning.

I bought one too for my PS5. Basically useless if you have a tv remote, that has the same functions...minus starting the console.

@@titchywaltz0717 Nope, makes no difference in tv/monitor and size. The PS5 is renderred automatically, so if your tv/monitor supports at least 1080p, then you have the basic essentials. The matter is pairing remote bluetooth to the PS5. I recommend using the PS5 hdmi link to tv, so everytime you turn your tv on, your PS5 turns on as well. Same as PS4.

Microphone pinhole is on the top of the back of the remote underneath the back cover.
since the controller has those special triggers can’t they make them tense when watching media so they don’t accidentally fast forward?

I got a media remote for my series x, once I got the batteries in the remote worked instantly, no setup needed
I bought it back in February and now for a month it will move three icons and then not work at all. I checked that I got connection which it is and I changed the batteries and still nothing. What do I do at this point?

The good thing about this remote is that it’s like the PS3 remote working over Bluetooth
But than again every PlayStation since the PS3 Slim can be controlled using your tv remote over HDMI-CEC ... than again I never use my TV remote but my AV remote to controle my PlayStation’s ... my av set also has HDMI-CEC so it works with all the devices that support it

So the with the media remote it’s not a command type thing it’s if you need to search in like RUclips with the microphone so it is not used like a assistant

Any tv that allows control through HDMI will allow you to control the ps5 with the TV's original remote. The media remote does make it easier to turn on and off he console though.
Do you own any of the remotes made by PDP for the PS4? If so can you try using them on the PS5?

The remote works via Bluetooth and communities to other connected devices vai HDMI CEC. As long as your PS5 and TV are powered on and connected, it should work.

So far I’ve only gotten the remote’s microphone to work with the search bar in the PlayStation Store.
Why does Netflix do all those lines when you launch is it a bug I been having that happen to but only my PlayStation does that

My sony tv remote controls playstation also. I believe any will work if you have the ARC set so you can control playstation with tv

If you guys have a Samsung TV like a qled or a series and above, I don't see any point of getting this because your one connect remote does the same and I rather use Netflix that is built in my tv because that is where the highest resolution is going to play from

Media tab is pointless on the ps5. Everyone has smart TV. All the streaming apps are already on your tv. If you don’t have a smart tv there’s $20 google chrome to connect to your tv and stream anything you’d like from you Phone.

It works like that because you have a Sony tv. It’s configured for Sony TVs out of the box I think.
I don’t have a sony tv and it connected to mine immediately lol. it just has to be compatible.

As far as I know, you can’t.
Everyone already knows since ps3 slim and PS4 days hdmi Cec lets you use the tv remote on the console, but annoying shit tends to happen.

You can't. It's fucking useless. Terrible media remote. The PS3 media remote was so good and this new ps5 remote feels like a massive step back. I regret buying it.
