It’s a vicious cycle, the “sigma individual” character type in an organization can only exist - by design - by other stakeholders that are shallow, entitled and lazy. If it were a matter of competence you can at least collectively identify a training gap, and while not everyone will clear the training hurdle, incompetence is a much better problem to have vs arrogant laziness. Dealing with the latter is a waste of any effective individuals time and sanity.
The worst is when a passenger on your team has the audacity to challenge your “teamwork” mindset. When you have deckhands on the bridge navigating while captains are cleaning holds, you’re on a much deserving collision course voyage. Diplomacy is overrated when your stakeholders have a grade school mindset. It forces the “sigma individual” to manipulate. Because at that point manipulation is the only effective means of leadership
