Great idea - I'm on my third black canvas replacement belt for mine. I had added a strip of duct tape for more grip and it worked better, but I need to give this a try.
Issue I have had recently is if I'm doing any kind of lifting at work or crouching down and putting pressure on it, the teeth have been ripping the top half of the leather off. Might be because it's cheap leather but I like ratchet style belts.
The best way to fix a slide belt is buy a kore belt. thats what i did when mine broke and the kores belts are waaay better.And I got an email saying slide belts is now in bankrupcy. there goes there warranty.
I just tried this..I didn’t work because even though I made the cuts in the sides the teeth of the buck still pull the belt back due to their angle. So there still is a space void….grrr…I love & hate these belts.
