they ruined his career by rushing him into cup when he wasn’t ready, they did not let him develop in the Xfinity series. I knew that would happen. Whatever happened to proving yourself before you get into the cup series.
3 seasons in cup is MORE than enough time to see if someone has what it takes. They all have the same car parts from the same single source manufacturers. Was he "rushed?" Yes. After 3 years, are we going to be confident he simply isn't good enough and was never going to be good enough to succeed here? Also yes.
2 full Xfinity seasons is more than enough time and is pretty much the same amount of time, if not more, as every other driver in the field had as well before they got moved up to Cup. Most of those drivers figured it out, he didn't, end of story.

Jesus... Jerry had so much potential. That Richmond wreck really ended it all far to soon. I always wonder what could have been if that never happened.
I met Harrison Burton at Mosport in Canada. I live. Least for Kyle Busch sports he was the only one who stopped and signed for me and then when I found out, he was Jeff Burton son, and I followed him all the way to flick Xfinity and I’ll finally see him when the cup was knowing I met that guy.
I can completely sympathise. My favourite driver (Olli Caldwell) deeply struggled in F2 - which I made a video about - but is now improving a lot in prototype endurance racing. Hopefully your video will be a similar good luck charm for Harrison
I’ve been a fan of Harrison for years and I think the main issue was that he was rushed to Cup. Yes he won 4 times in his rookie Xfinity season, but he didn’t make it past the first round of the playoffs, and then he went winless in 2021. Yes, Keselowski jumping ship to Roush forced Penske to change their plans for Cindric, but they could’ve easily kept Matty D in the 21 car. What a lot of people seem to forget is that the 21 is essentially a fourth Penske car, so it should easily be running in the Top 15 every week. I hope that if Harrison is kicked to the curb in favor of more than likely Briscoe, as that’s the big rumor right now, he pulls a John Hunter and goes back down to either Xfinity or Trucks to rebuild his career. He has talent, and he’s still pretty young, same age as me, so there’s plenty of time for him to earn his way back to Cup should he go that route.
I agree though Briscoe is also in the mix for a JGR seat, either the 19 or they bring the 18 back. Either way I hope to see the 21 going stronger next year.
As a Ty Dillon fan, I feel you. I don't care where he runs, I'll still be a fan. And whenever he showed potential like he did at the roval in 2020, I was ecstatic. It's kinda funny though how I went from rooting for a seven time champion, to Ty fucking Dillon💀. I'm now a Tyler Reddick fan in cup now that Ty Dillon went to trucks but a part of me misses the battle of mid he had each week
I was Jimmie Johnson fan growing up, and then didn’t have a true favorite driver for the 2021-2023 in Cup. During this time, I was steadily growing interest in Carson Hocevar in the Truck Series, as he is from my home state of Michigan. I literally heard about him in a newspaper in 2019 that my grandpa gave to me 😂. I knew I was a fan the moment that he ran out of gas on the final lap at Kansas in 2022. I was heartbroken. I have now learned to appreciate top 10’s and top 15’s for my favorite driver, and patiently waiting for his first top 5 and victory (hopefully)
this video is actually really well made! i also agree with this 100%, i'm happy other people are willing to accept if their favorite driver sucks, Todd Gilliland recently became my favorite driver after KFB's disatser classes this year, and i find it so much better the watch the races now! and because of this, when Todd finished top 10 last week at Sonoma i was ecstatic
I’ve been a Todd Gilliland fan since he was in the 4 truck. My old favorite driver was Ross Chastain until I meet him and he didn’t give me a autograph and it broke my heart and my favorite driver became Todd Gilliland.
I was quite lucky with the whole 'favorite driver transition' as well, was a Kenseth fan for a long time and then switched to Blaney, the last full time season for Kenseth turned out to be Blaney breakout year with the 21 car
Harrison just wasn’t ready for cup. He’s only in that ride because of Dex Imaging. I think he just needs more experience, or become an xfinity lifer like Allgaier or Sadler.
Finally someone who understands. I don't think all of Harrison's issues are with him. I don't know why everyone is so convinced the 21 car is a playoff car. I can almost guarantee people will be disappointed by this time next year when whoever is in the car is just as bad or only slightly better than Harrison is right now. And he showed some skills at New Hampshire a couple days ago, only 14th or so, but he was running a good bit in the top 10, last restart hurt him. He would lose some spots each restart but then get some back, was an all around decent weekend for him and the team. I hope he gets some time in Xfinity to build his reputation again.

Hey man, ive been a Ricky Stenhouse since 2015. It’s pure pain sometimes, but it can be fun. i always loved numbers with “7” in them, and Stenhouse has had two of em, so that’s why.
Most my fan career I’ve had two favorite drivers. Whole family was Mark Martin fans so when I started watching in 2008 I became one as well. Around 2011 when Mark was winding down his career I learned that Ricky Stenhouse was from my hometown and started rooting for him but only because of neutral hometowns. After Mark I switched to Bowyer, I loved how crazy he was. After his retirement that left me with only Stenhouse so i understand the rooting for the back of the pack drivers. Wouldn’t trade it for anything, somehow rooting for that Top 10 is just special
Your point at around 3:26 is interesting. I’ve beefed watching since 2007-2008, my driver my whole life was Jeff Gordon up until he retired then I moved onto being a Larson fan. Going from having a breakout year to winless seasons to not being in NASCAR to winning a championship and being a championship contender really made me appreciate the struggle that being a Larson fan was from 2016-2020. Since 2021 it’s been pretty fun to be a Larson fan, guy is a contender every week and wins a ton and I’m loving it. Honestly assuming that Burton is done, I’d recommend rooting for someone who has the talent for a championship but doesn’t currently have the car and might not have a win yet. Shit really makes you appreciate the process of going from struggling for wins to winning championships. I literally went from arguing with people about why Larson is a championship caliber driver and why CGR was ass to seeing that I was correct and everyone claiming that Larson was just a middle of the road driver from 2016-2020 was wrong.
Ever since Jeff Gordon put his right arm around Kyle Larson’s shoulder in the 2014 Chicagoland race, I just instantly became a Kyle Larson fan because he is a natural talent which he proved with his 5th place result that day.
@@HappyKarl095 yeah, I was already taking a liking to Larson and had decided that he would be my driver after Gordon during his rookie season. I didn’t start actively rooting for him until Gordon retired. I mean you could tell that the guy was special after that rookie season if you were paying attention, but for some reason he had doubters even during that 2021 season where he was borderline unbeatable. Heck I had a guy tell me that he wasn’t anything more than a Dale Earnhardt Jr type driver a couple days ago which completely blew my mind that someone could still think that he’s not capable of a Kyle Busch type career. Like I feel like if he was at HMS from 2014-present, he would’ve had multiple championships by now since he really meshed with the gen 6 car and is just now starting to really look amazing in the gen 7.
Rick Ware Racing, Front Row Motorsports, and Spire Motorsports have vastly improved since Burton got into the Cup Series. These teams improvement correlates with the 21 car's average finish declining.
3:10 for me it’s opposite I was a Dale Sr fan when I was 4, then moved to Harvick in 2001 (8) and followed Kevin going from “we MIGHT win a race this year, RCR kinda sucks” to “if we win less than 4 races it’s a rough year huh?”. And that was fun. But years like 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2023 are far tougher, it’s so boring when you’re 15th or worse. And this year I’m so glad I picked Larson over Logano for the new favorite driver lol.
So my guys are Ryan blaney and Joey logano! But I do also have back of the pack drivers I really like and it’s awesome to see when they have a good finish. That is Justin Haley and Carson hocevar.
@@marklittle8805 Corey Lajoie is pretty overrated. The only reason people don't treat him like Harrison Burton is because they expect so little of his cars, but he is pretty clearly being outran by a 21 year old rookie in the same equipment this year.

I forgot Cindric was supposed to go to the 21, honestly don't know how much better he would be doing in that ride considering he struggles to stay top 20 in points over at Penske
I'm a burton fan, I feel that he definitely was rushed to cup, but also he has horrible luck, at his best tracks he gets wrecked a lot, whether he can avoid it or not, daytona this year, the southern 500 last year, and daytona in 2022, but he still has sparks of hope, for example (something you couldn't cover because it hadn't happened yet when you were making the video) new hampshire this year he was running top 10 ever since he took 2 tires instead of 4, but he cylced back due to the endless restarts, but even for him a top 15 is a good finish, looking forward to daytona and darlington soon
If Burton comments on this and was like sorry for letting my fans and Wood Brothers down that would be kinda cool. Hopefully things look brighter in Burton future still believe he can win a Cup race someday. Maybe he should try to getting into RCR and drive the 31 number just like his Father could help.
My favorite driver is Ryan Sieg (even though he's not in Cup- I still like him mire than any of the Cup drivers). I can relate to your pain (especially last year, it was brutal). I agree that it is more fun to be a fan of the not so great drivers because any tiny bit of success is the greatest thing in the world lol
Im a Daniel Suarez fan thru and thru. However when/if Daniel wrecks out, I do cheer for HB/Wood Brothers! With the way NASCAR is today due to costs, rule changes, etc. I appreciate everything the Wood Brothers do to keep the team running! Whomever replaces him, I hope can boost the team back to what they use to be! I hope the Wood Brothers can continue to race in the cup series for years to come!
IMO Burton is a physical representation of what’s wrong with the driver market in modern NASCAR. He has the ride because of the money he brings, and he held that ride because DEX was flipping the bills. I want to see a business model where teams can actually hire the best driver for the job instead of which brand can pay for a driver to be in a seat. It’s holding the sport back, especially for drivers in the development pipelines.
I do really like harrison and not gonna lie alot of it is the burton name but he's a good kid with alot of skill. Personally I think jeb is a little better but that being said I've always had a under dog favorite I root for as well as a more skilled driver I root for.
i dont know why i have that kind of stuff but he is in one of my favourite crash commentaries… Big crash on the back straighaway takes out William Byron, Kyle Busch and Harrison Burton
Worst driver - Little E . Even with all those HMS resources and cheats he was never a Championship contender. He was great with a perfect car but knew NOTHING about telling his crew was was wrong with a bad one. His Spotter Ty Norris told him on the radio to quit whining when the Crew Chief couldn't fix it because of Junior's crappy feedback. He got replaced the next race. Eventually they got Mark Martin to try to teach him tight from loose. Didn't work.
He still has more lead lap finishes than JD McDuffie, with his grand total of 0 in 653 starts. That said, McDuffie is my all-time favorite because of what he represented; just the pure will to go and race with the best, no matter the cost, no matter how badly it might go. I think Harrison Burton represents something like that for you, and I respect that.

7:10 Reverse Jinx?? Based
If Burton comments on this and was like sorry for letting my fans and Wood Brothers down that would be kinda cool. Hopefully things look brighter in Burton future still believe he can win a Cup race someday. Maybe he should try to getting into RCR and drive the 31 number just like his Father could help.
Hey bro. I know I'm late, but your driver won.
This aged well
I had this shit on another tab planning to watch it after the race and he fucking won 😭
I just love the 21 car
Im a Daniel Suarez fan thru and thru. However when/if Daniel wrecks out, I do cheer for HB/Wood Brothers! With the way NASCAR is today due to costs, rule changes, etc. I appreciate everything the Wood Brothers do to keep the team running! Whomever replaces him, I hope can boost the team back to what they use to be! I hope the Wood Brothers can continue to race in the cup series for years to come!
I root for Burton every chance I get. From what I've heard, he was good in Xfinity. He's just stuck with a bad team.
congrats man
IMO Burton is a physical representation of what’s wrong with the driver market in modern NASCAR. He has the ride because of the money he brings, and he held that ride because DEX was flipping the bills. I want to see a business model where teams can actually hire the best driver for the job instead of which brand can pay for a driver to be in a seat. It’s holding the sport back, especially for drivers in the development pipelines.
Last minute or so made me tear up
Harrison Burton in 2024 NASCAR Cup Season is like 2021 Nikita Mazepin.
Who’s getting this recommended after he won?
I do really like harrison and not gonna lie alot of it is the burton name but he's a good kid with alot of skill. Personally I think jeb is a little better but that being said I've always had a under dog favorite I root for as well as a more skilled driver I root for.
WHOS HERE AFTER THE WIN!!!!
I’m a Lajoie fan. I feel like we’ll see him in the 21 soon. 😢
i dont know why i have that kind of stuff but he is in one of my favourite crash commentaries…
Big crash on the back straighaway takes out William Byron, Kyle Busch and Harrison Burton
Who’s here after he won?
The saddest thing for me as a a fan is he’s only 23, he’s 3 years older than me and he’s about to lose his dream job.
This video aged well.
HE DID IT!!!!
Same reason that im a saurez fan, always riding that line
I remember his K&N days. Good driver, he's just driving for Wood Brothers.
Burton won!
HE WONNNNNNNN how do you feel
Still doesn't feel real!
Finally, a fellow Burton fan!
Have you considered cheering for Hailey when she jumps up to a cup car?
And Harrison Burton has won his way into the playoffs, how about that
As a FRM fan… hang in there
atleast he is not Corey LaJoie
