How skillful you are to execute a lethal blow with any tool that humanity created this is a question that hangs in the balance.

In most fights, having a knife will give you a big edge, and if the other person is unarmed, it's a one way ticket to jail. That said, I carry a blade for defense, but would only draw it to combat a lethal threat. For everything else, if I cant just run away, being trained in hand to hand combat is more than enough. If you are physically able, I highly recommend getting some basic martial arts or unarmed combat training under your belt. God bless you Lynn. You are sorely missed.
@Craig Eubank As an officer, do you find yourself reluctant to take people in for self-defense? My drinking buddy is a cop, and not too long ago, he had to deal with a man who was stabbed and responded in kind.
If i feel that my life is threatened I will use anything within reach to defend myself, or I'm supposed to allow the perpetrator to harm/kill me just because they are unarmed? That law is a fkn joke 🤡🥳
knives scare the hell out of me also but when it comes to self defense I would definitely choose one from your list. Schrade makes great knives, don't know about the others
Benchmade, Crkt, Cold steel has some good stuff, Schrade has a few good blades. I should mention that the schf19l is a copy of a S&W dagger. Many cheap, bad quality brands have copied it, but I didn't know Schrade had done it until now
This list has made me realise how over the top I am I have an 8 inch Bowie style with a knuckle duster for a handle but if I can push knife in the mail that will be it's replacement for when I'm out n about
Bear in mind that anything which is designed as a “dagger” is by definition illegal to carry in many states. This would include “push daggers”. Likely the best idea that I’m familiar with is Janich’s “martial blade concepts” … Which essentially boils down to “cut to disable and leave the scene”. No stabs, thus more defensible as no “intent to kill”. This may hold up in court IF you can articulate that you were threatened with deadly force and that you had no intent to kill. Still going to be problematic. As a police officer, I carried a K-Bar “TDI” religiously. This was strictly a “last ditch” defense weapon, likely to be used in a “gun grab” situation.
Also illegal in many places .. where I live I can actually carry a 5 or 7in kabar not size restrictions where I live . But push daggers or just daggers are illegal to carry .. remember always check laws of tour area to see what you can legally carry .
@@donh1572 stopping power is a myth. Definitely is harder to cut with though, and it's smaller dimensions, when compared with any larger knife at all leave it at a disadvantage.
In self defense , combat training. In close quarters, your taught to go after the gun. You have a chance. There is a delay from brain to trigger. If it's a knife, go in the other direction. Someone's coming at you with a knife,,, there all in.
Same here if you Google Schrade go to there site should be on there if your like me live in UK going be hard to get I've been tryed get one since last year
I'm surprised that the Safe maker 1 & 2 weren't also featured on this list. Imo, they're both "premium" self defense knives that actually require very !little training but, can be very effective and devastating!
Schf19l is an excellent choice, but I actually prefer the smaller size 19s. Very affordable, simple, and plenty of functionality. Does what a dagger should. Penetrate. Carry a small utility blade as well to preserve the edge when you really need it. Also it doesnt cut like a utility blade.
I always thought (opinion) that a knife stab is worse to recover from (assuming it didn't hit anything vital) from how it slices through flesh, muscle etc where a bullet just penetrates (if that makes sense) like it would be easier to recover the muscle and flesh from a bullet than a blade.
The cold steel espada should have been on the list. I would not want a knife wrapped in Paracord if I was fighting for my life. You have blood on your hands and that knife becomes very slippery. I would also want a knife with a guard so my hand would not slide off of the handle and get cut on the blade. Also, if your self-defense knife is a folder, you better have a really strong lock on it that you trust with your life. And your fingers. For a dedicated self-defense knife, I would also want a silver blade. Preferably polished. That is very intimidating to the adversary. Very effective. Also, a longer blade is more intimidating than a shorter blade.
Crime robbery has been increasing where I live. relative was recently killed from a mugging and someone i know got really hurt from another one recently too. I need something. Better then just hands to defend my self
I would think carrying a Schrade knife would be the most effective in self defense. Simply offer to give it to someone and they would run away screaming. I know I would.
To the LEO …. Yes it’s a weapon and I might go to jail however if some moron wants to attack me and try to cause me physical harm I will defend myself…..PERIOD
If you think a knife is a smart defense you best check with local police. If you have the bravery to actually use it in a defensive situation remember it can be taken and used on you. A knife can kill. That said, you have fingers to thrust into eye sockets, teeth and if those seem extreme, you don't need a knife. You need fast feet and better run.
The premise of this video is good but your intro saying “most people are more afraid of knives then they are guns” is completely and totally inaccurate and I can prove it what’s scarier a 5 year old with a knife OR a 5 year old with a gun
I wouldn't call a knife a great alternative to a firearm at all! I carry my firearm on me everywhere i go with my knife! Like the old saying goes don't bring a knife to a gun fight! ANY KIND OF GUN CONTROL IS RADICALLY RACIST!!!!!

You need a giant wicked sharp bowie knife like Croc Dundees,, cause even in the hands of a fool that thing could be dangerous.

Dropping the super functional TekLock sheath mounting system is dumbest thing Benchmade could have ever done to the ADAMAS fixed blade knife.
