Paying it forward: My family and I were going to vacation a couple weeks ago and stopped at a Wendy’s for a bite to eat. The lobby was obvious closed due to Covid so drive thru was the only option. Me, my wife, and my brother were in one car, first in line, and my mom, dad, and our sons were in the car behind us. We ordered and when we got to the window, I said I’d like to pay for mine and the vehicle behind me. You could tell the poor girl working the window didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. After some lengthy explaining, she let me pay for both. My dad got to the window and she told him his was paid for. He said he would like to pay for the car behind him and the girl at the window told him “we don’t do that here anymore”.
My wife asked me what I'm listening to that's making me laugh so much? Never in a million years would I have thought the answer would have been a podcast about grocery stores. Keep up the Lord's work boys.
Aaron and Bunion playing sad songs and crying while on a road trip fits perfectly with what I know about them so far. Love this podcast and getting to hear Nate's expertise on comedy and his genuine lack of knowledge on basically everything else.
OKAY... so this episode touches on 2 subjects that I have just been waiting to talk about my whole life... 1. I too have always thought that the ‘D’ in ‘Disney’ looks like a ‘G’ But more importantly, 2. GROCERY. CARTS. NEED. CUPHOLDERS. We can send people to the freaking moon but I can’t go shopping with my coffee in hand? Don’t they know that if there’s any point in my life when coffee is necessary, it’s while I’m at the grocery store? I mean it is ALWAYS cold and I NEVER want to be there. P.s. LOVE the podcast you guys! I too am from the South and I love how y’all’s ramblings remind me so much of home. The “get off my property” bit in particular was PERFECT. Keep up the great work!
I’m not quite 50, but also remember the introduction of auto-opening doors at supermarkets etc. At the beginning, they were triggered by sensors under a big rubber mat until the electronic eye became more practical. Grocery stores hold fond memories.
Aaron’s rollover 3 times to Nashville joke would be great for the stage. As a big fella myself, it has always been both astounding and hilarious that people feel comfortable to say things like that to a complete stranger. Love it.
One more thing, I just ordered the Hello Folks t-shirt a few days ago and hadn’t even heard this episode yet. I just thought it was funny. Now it’s even funnier and I’m im proud to sport around a Brianism!
It’s so funny that they are teasing Brian about opening every joke with “hello folks” and a big hand wave because that is so close to what Dusty does! Literally holding up his hand while he says,” we’re having a good time” after every couple of jokes!😂
Nate is like Homer Simpson. Homer: "Books are useless! I only ever read one book, To Kill A Mockingbird, and it gave me no insight on how to kill mockingbirds!"
For years I thought the title was "Tequila Mockingbird," because we're so country where I'm from it always sounds like *tuh-keyell-uh mawk-in bird* when we say it. So I never really knew what it was called for the longest time.
Normally when people talk about Lebanon you ask whether they mean the Middle East or Tennessee, but when Brined Baits says Lebnin. No questions necessary.
I am amazed Bartholomew did not Google "peanuts in coke". The history is pretty great, workers would do it to not touch their peanuts with their dirty hands, slightly mind-blown. Great podcast gents!
Guys, please try and get Nate's dad on the podcast and talk about Magic. I'm an amateur magician, and would love to hear some of the stories he has to share from his experience performing. Cheers for the episode! Much love.
I know someone who refuses to use the self-checkout unless they get the employee discount. Also, the rant about the self serve ice cream was too relatable, and I laughed way too hard!
Hey guys - A couple days ago I got a call about a family emergency so the wife and I tossed the dog in the car and started the drive from Vermont to Florida. We put on episode #1 about 10 miles in. If you’re curious, you have about 1400 miles worth of content. Besides the GPS lady, nothing else came through the speakers. I can’t tell you how many times we laughed so hard that we swerved off the road. So you killed, almost. But seriously, great job. We love it and it took our minds off other things. Now go ahead and make another 1,400 miles of content for the drive home.
Man, my favorite podcasts are the ones where I feel like I'm sitting around chatting with my buddies. This is exactly that. I may have to try to go see Brunch in Lebanon in October.
Never been a Podcast guy but powered through all of these episodes in 3 days. Felt like I was sitting in the room with Nate, Brian and Arthur. But a few episodes back you read a comment from someone about the happiness your theme song brings to them when they hear it start. So naturally, you changed it. Great to see you doing what the people want!
Aaron’s comment about why someone would go to the grocery store a few times a week. Me personally I go almost every other day For one reason. Because I can’t decide what I want to eat 6 days before I eat it. So I go once a week for the staples (eggs milk bread coffee dog food ect.) And then through the week I’ll go and get the stuff to make whatever meal I am feeling for that night or maybe the next day I don’t know what kind of psychopath can decide they want spaghetti 6 days ahead of time and stick with it.
I can fore sure see Aaron as a loss prevention guy. Brakepads looks like he's only allowed to work the cigarette isle and Nate looks like a normal customer but always needs directions. Love the podcast guys!
On the subject of fake slip and fall claims: I worked in insurance claims, both as a bodily injury adjuster (settling these claims with the attorneys), and most recently as a Special Investigator working fraud cases. There are some wild schemers out there with very little shame. Typically if there is such clear evidence of blatant insurance fraud, like we saw in the video, the person would have a very hard time finding an attorney to represent them, and usually have no other choice but to drop the claim or face charges. It's actually a very interesting world and could make for a good episode. Keep up the good work Nate Aaron and Bibgbong.
When Blanket Bates reads it’s like he was called on to read for the class and he’s trying to impress the teacher but still sound cool by not caring that much.
I'm a 33yo lawyer (that requires a doctoral degree, Nate) and up until very recently, I always wondered why Disney's logo was spelled with a G. So glad to know I'm not be the only one.
I’ve fallen down a Natecast rabbit hole and I cannot stop. He is me and so are Breakfast and Aron. This is a great podcast for relaxing and realizing that we are all the same…but different :-)
I love waking up, getting ready for work, and getting ready to go to sleep, listening to you guys. I've lived in Indiana since I was 4. I'm now 37, but I have southern roots. I also am really bad at reading, and just in general not that bright, with a horrible memory. So Nate, no disrespect, you inspire me, brother. Gollie.. love you guys. Also, I'm eating sour patch kids right now. Thank you for the laughs. William pinnick.
I love this podcast for a lot of reasons, one of them being the fact that Nate asks the questions that at this point in my life I’m too embarrassed to ask. I never knew for sure what undergrad meant, but I’d much rather learn the definition in the form of Aaron and Barnacle explaining it to Nate like he’s 5 years old.
If Barleycorn had a walkout song it would 100% be the theme song for Curb Your Enthusiasm. The thought of him just addressing everyone with a hearty “Hey Folks!” With that music playing had me rolling. Catch phrases have worked for several comedians..maybe this is Bilbo’s big break through. Completely agree with Nate on Totinos being your favorite pizza..around our house we call it “ghetto pizza” it is perfect in every way. Keep up the good work
At a wal-mart in Kansas City, we were getting checked out when amidst the clothing racks behind the checkout line, a woman started screaming and was on the floor. The cashier didn’t flinch. The woman continued hollering, and the cashier did NOTHING. We finally asked her if they needed to do anything. She rolled her eyes and says it happens 3-4 times a week, and they were trained specifically to do nothing and they will eventually get up and walk away. That’s gold.
Nate, why were you that into scream in high school? Battlestar, you can take a joke so well. You all have great chemistry together. You play off each other so well. It’s unbelievable!
My husband and I own a small company in Houston and our first staff outing was a trip to Dallas to see Nate last year. This was also our first time to ride scooters. We had so much fun at the show and also with the scooters that we decided this would be an annual event we call “Scooteroo” (which doesn’t start with a B but one could argue would also be a good nickname for Bates) We we’re so bummed when everything got shut down this year and figured we wouldn’t do it. But as soon as we heard Nate was doing the drive-in show I immediately texted the team that “Scooteroo” was back on! Super thankful for y’alls willingness to get out there - these team events help our morale especially in a tough year like 2020.
I'm surprised Nate and Brunch didn't call out the fact that Aaron spent $100 renting a scooter he probably could've bought for that much. Loving the podcast thanks for entertaining us.
The coffee shop I go to puts "$1, $2, $3, other" as the tip options on the ipad if your order is under 7ish dollars. If it is over $7 ish dollars it says "15%, 20%, 25%, other" I realized it outsmarts me and that if 15% of the total is under $1 it will offer $1 as the starting tip, if 15% is over $1 it will offer 15% as the starting tip. Anyways love the podcast, keep it up Nate, Aaron, and Barnabas!
I fully support Aaron on misunderstanding the spelling of Disney as a kid. My name starts with a "D". When I was younger, it looked to me that the "Disney" logo was spelled with a strange character that resembled a treble clef. It wasn't until after I had been working on writing cursive that I realized it was a legitimate part of the English alphabet. Enjoying the podcast since day 1. I hope to see Nate, and hopefully Aaron and Brian "broomstick" Bates soon in Oregon.
Aaron is spot on with peanuts in coke. It's totally a country thing. I grew up in Oklahoma and my dad and uncles all used to do it. Really enjoying the show, fellas! Thanks for letting us laugh along. Broccoli, keep your head up! We all appreciate you!
Finally someone else who thinks Tostinos pizza is one of the best! I remember eating it as a kid and still think it is such good pizza. Literally every other person I’ve said this in front of laughs because they think I am making a joke.
Nate can make fun of Brian all he wants but I enjoy how Brian can read a sentence like a normal person without stopping everytime he sees a 6 letter word keep up the great work guys!
Aaron is right! The 4 swivel wheels are amazing cause IKEA has those and they are SO SMOOTH and so fun to push. The low-key Gisney genius wins again! Can’t believe a podcast about grocery stores had me riveted and wanting more. Great stuff, Nate, Aaron, & Beaker, keep it up.
Someone needs to explain to Bricktone Bates that we do this out of genuine affection, and that he is now such an integral and beloved member of this Pod we would revolt if Stuart from big bang showed up
I went looking for this comment. She only wrote To Kill a Mockingbird after her publisher said that she should focus on writing a prequel about the flashbacks she wrote in Go Set a Watchman.
I grew up in Iowa & when I was in college my younger brother worked in the bakery at the local grocery store. If I was home for the weekend, my friends & I would smoke weed & go visit him at 2am & they would let us EAT AS MANY FRESHLY MADE DONUTS AS WE WANTED! It was awesome! (PS- Have you ever considered turning up your AC temperature so you don’t have to wear coats inside the house in the summer?)
Hey Nate Big fan, and a even bigger fan of Aaron and Bond, Bates Bond. Anyway would it be okay to bring a air horn to your drive in show ??? Serious question pls respond
As a kid, I thought the same thing as Aaron about the Disney logo. Although, I never told anyone because I thought I would be made fun of. Looks like I was right. Another great show guys!
Philly fan here - love the show! It's now at the top of my podcast list each week. And keep doing the comments... It's a fun and unique part of the show. Hope to see y'all in person again soon enough. 👍🏻
Maybe I'm getting old but podcast's I used to find entertaining are stressing me out. I need to listen to only podcast's like this that are just chill.
Absolutely love the podcast! The fiancé and I saw you guys at Zanies a few months back and couldn’t be bigger fans! Take it easy on Breakfast Ball, Nate!
I'm pretty sure I've seen brian working at every grocery store I've ever been to. That would be his typecasting. It seems like grocery stores double as adult day care centers. Grandpa Breakfast can you tell us about the time you played fantasy football with punch cards? Aaron, explain what punch cards are to Nick.
In college, I often cooked Totino’s party pizzas in a toaster oven. I didn’t think to call it Toastino‘s. That is now how I will fondly remember those days of poverty.
You and Aaron giving Baskins a hard time is getting redicuruss! All kidding aside this is my favorite podcast! I can’t wait for Wednesday’s now for the new episode. Sincerely Donna Chang
After listening to Nate read the sponsor spots, I can't wait for him, Bri Diddley and Tres Rollover to do them 30 years from now for hearing aids, reverse mortgages, gold coins and life insurance. Thanks for the shout out! Love the podcast.
Nate got my last name right! Thanks guys. My husband and I enjoyed seeing Nate and Brian in Knoxville and can't wait to get out to see you again. These podcasts are keeping us entertained in the meantime though!
I'm from Huntsville, and before you aired this, 2 weeks ago I listened to this podcast on the way back from Huntsville to Colorado. We were just trying to find some sad stuff to listen to ✊
M&Ms in hot popcorn is great. The chocolate melts inside the shell so it doesn't get messy but you get salty and sweet. Never heard of peanuts in Coke.
Also, Aaron, your Walmart facts are on point! I live up here in Walmart country. It's definitely normal. Walmart does crazy stuff, here. I'm sad I missed you!
Hey Nate, Aldi doesn't have brand names but they do mostly just have their solid in house brands. It's a good thing too. One time my dad was sent to the store with "beans" on the list. He came back with all the beans: green beans, lima beans, kidney beans, and even great northern beans. Good thing he only had 1 brand to choose from! I agree with you on Meijer. I told my daughter (about Harper's age) that you went to Meijer for the first time and got an LOL doll. Her response, "I thought he would get toilet paper." I'll go proofread this now.
Paul M.E. Mueller I just have to comment on your consistency. I haven’t read the comment section in over a month, but I recall your proofreading with the (edited) mark from several episodes back after they read your comment on the show. Well played, sir.
If you did do an ep on tipping, you should check out the Sporkful's episode where they interview the guy who started Shake Shack (among others). He is against tipping and has a very compelling argument...part of his argument is that he pays his workers a living wage. I feel like Nate could relate.
I actually deliver bread to grocery stores. I work for one of the largest bakeries in the world. It owns SOOOOO many big brands. I can't even begin to tell you how busy we all were when this kicked off. Not to mention the incredible amount of money we all made because we work off commission. I watched a Costco get full 18 wheeler trucks delivering toilet paper or paper towels, every single day. Imagine one store needing a whole 18 wheeler truck load of toilet paper every single day. Crazy
I knew the name was Disney, but thought the logo just said “isney” and had an abstract character in front of it that looked like a backwards G. I was probably in middle school or high school when I figured it out.
There are several times in this show that absolute hilarious “nuggets” are said by Brian and Aaron and get missed by you guys. First, Brian…you never knew what that flip thing was on the shopping cart until hearing it right then?! 😂😂😂. And Aaron nailed the Bye Folks at the end of the grocery store lock-in comment and the laugh was missed until Nate repeated it. Lol. Btw, Tostinos is not a thing. Lol. Y’all are all so innocently not correcting Nate but maybe because none of you know?! 😂 it’s either Totinos pizza or he could have been screwing Tostitos chips but either way…not Tostinos…another miss for ole Nater! And he was so absolute in his love Tostinos! 🤣. Great team for a podcast guys. I love the dynamic and completely enjoy the laughs! 🙌
Love the podcast! My wife and I saw Nate and Brian at the Stardome in 2017. We all talked after the show for a while. It was funny because at the time i didnt know who Brian was. Brian took our picture with Nate and then we stood there to keep talking and Nate goes, y'all want a picture with Brian too? We were like, sure. Brian said y'all dont have to lol. But we got the picture and we've been following since. Keep up the good work. I tell everybody I know to listen to y'all. Including Aaron.
Aaron, I totally understand what you mean about the "G". I always knew it was "Disney" but I visualized that as more of a "G" symbol. It wasn't until I was 29/30 that I finally, truly, saw the "D" (I had never searched before).
Boysenberry's patience with the constant ridicule always impresses me. Also It seems like Aaron always knows the main-stream, pop-culture references Nate is trying to make but holds back for a bit. Nate; your reading just fine dont feel bad (I had to look up how to spell Boysenberry).
“Call me Brian, I appreciate it.” - Breakfast Bates
Watching Aaron get laughing when someone is telling a story is the best; his laugh is completely contagious!
Hes my favorite.
Branson and Aaron explaining how college works to Nate and then Nate completely discrediting how college works is the embodiment of this podcast.
"you're the only kid that could already read when you heard about Disney" lmao
Brian had my back in a bar fight back in '97, yall better put some respect on his name!
Boo Radly would be good in a fight.
I'd love to have Mike Bryson in my corner
He will cut someone!
Bacon bits looks like the kinda guy who spent his parents hard earned money responsibly at the scholastic book fair.
I feel like constantly doing this to Bibbity is how a supervillain gets made.
Paying it forward:

I’m shocked this story didn’t receive love from Nate.

The Breakfast: "Hello, folks!"
A Netflix Standup Special
After hearing about him attempting to stop an electric scooter, I’m convinced that Bahrain is the perfect sitcom character

Bronco saying “So I won” after adding 100k to Aaron’s answer to DraftKings prize amount was classic.
Just as his “I think they’re both dumb” to Zaldi and Gisney
Aaron you’re not alone. Anytime I look at the logo I see a “G” and think “Gisney”. Always have

Aaron’s dad can join to discuss being a principal.
Your comment brought on that dope Magic episode! I lovvved it!
@@suzysmash3560 It was unexpected, but it did indeed bring me a great deal of joy to watch that episode. Magic is passion of mine. Regards.
If Hello Fresh ever adds a tip option Nate is going to break the unbelievable counter.

You guys keep topping yourselves every episode! Nate, Adam and Bania are an "unbelievable" trio. Hats. Friends. Comedy.

Someone needs to explain to Bricktone Bates that we do this out of genuine affection, and that he is now such an integral and beloved member of this Pod we would revolt if Stuart from big bang showed up
Popcorn & m&m's -- salt and sweet. Delish
Fun fact: Go Set a Watchman was written BEFORE To Kill a Mockingbird, but published way later
It's definitely time that Burito brought out some merch! I would happily buy a "Hellllloooooo Folks" t-shirt
Keep them coming! Nate, Aaron never disappoint. And it is time Beast gets some respect around here.
I love your show! You all bring your own elements to the show... Brian is like a grown up Butters Stotch (from South Park).
Definitely has become my favorite podcast
Nate got my last name right! Thanks guys. My husband and I enjoyed seeing Nate and Brian in Knoxville and can't wait to get out to see you again. These podcasts are keeping us entertained in the meantime though!
I'm from Huntsville, and before you aired this, 2 weeks ago I listened to this podcast on the way back from Huntsville to Colorado. We were just trying to find some sad stuff to listen to ✊
Hello folks! 👋👋👋
Andrew's face turned as red from laughing as Budolph's nose during this segment.
Goodnight folks 👋👋👋!
Her response, "I thought he would get toilet paper."
I'll go proofread this now.
Paul M.E. Mueller I just have to comment on your consistency. I haven’t read the comment section in over a month, but I recall your proofreading with the (edited) mark from several episodes back after they read your comment on the show. Well played, sir.
@@rodweldon9292 Thanks Rob! Maybe someday they will read one of my comments again.
Nate, who does not shop for groceries, doing an episode about grocery stores. Wild.
Crazy
So, as pertaining to the horse joke, Brickbat is Seinfeld and Nate is Kenny Bania in that scenario. That's gold, Brickbat! Gold!
“What kind of life advice are we giving, though?”
“I bet there’s stuff”
Harper Lee actually wrote ‘Go Set A Watchman’ in 1957 but it wasn’t published until 2015.
Boysenberry's patience with the constant ridicule always impresses me. Also It seems like Aaron always knows the main-stream, pop-culture references Nate is trying to make but holds back for a bit. Nate; your reading just fine dont feel bad (I had to look up how to spell Boysenberry).
It’s hilarious seeing Nate butcher names and words when watching with CC on.
