He was the one who said that in Aug-23 - 2024, elections would be Modi vs. Modi. All experts are the same ... when they are right they highlight it in a big way ..when they are wrong they disappear.
So, Modiji became unpopular in UP , but remained hugely popular in Madhya Pradesh and Orissa ? Mr Sharma is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole with this argument. There were months long misinformation campaign in UP prior to elections.
UP is driven heavily by caste politics and population stress adds the cherry on top, MP is largely a mild state where such issues are in equilibrium and a lot of families here have cross state family connection (like Maharashtra, Rajasthan and UP), which tends to somehow negates the feeling of being under BJP rule for long. I don't see that going away from MP. MP is indeed an exception for BJP.
@@potbot887 Though I agree with your observation; I think searching for a pan India theme during general elections by the likes of Ruchir Sharma is more or less a futile exercise . There was no calculation made by Indian populace to keep Modi in power, but as a part of coalition. It's all post facto analysis by a person who sells his words for a living.
