I love the message behind this. You put out a glorified image of yourself on the social media, which people happen to like. However, this image ain't the real you and your true social image gets absorbed by the fake one and you seize to exist in the eyes of people.
Road to Riches I get what you mean. However we all have an "avatar", society receives as our real selves. For instance if i keep uploading selfies with me always being in clubs or i dont know hiking etc you will see me as a "social butterfly", even though we all have our private moments, being sad and mad and being human. People often have a mistaken perspective of what is real and they dont really bother searching to get their facts right. Technology has helped a lot at projecting false facts and twisted realities.
Its.....different and weird, but I kinda like that about it. It's not a copy and paste of everything playing on the radio and it's definitely not playing safe. I respect the risk, but I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.
No, I can guarantee there will still be plenty of people who will dislike it. The beat honestly overtakes the lyrics to much, and I would say the cyber-electro beat is actually BEHIND its time.
Just like google glasses. I totally agree with you. Although, if this song was in FutureSex Love Sounds back in 2006 it would have fitted in perfectly. But that was then, history will repeat itself soon and people will have more appreciation to risky sounds just like they did back in 2006 when JT and Timbaland introduced us t a whole new sound wave... just like back in 1981 when Prince came out... and so forth. They weren’t ready for this in 2018, unfortunately.
In the audio version you can hear a woman voice saying to him: "Do you see me? Can you find me? with a country guitar sounds in the backround" This song really describes Justin's FS/LS era when he was a sex symbol, singing electro/pop music, kind of futuristic music style, with a lot of dance, very precise choreographies, he was like a robot, like an object in a shop window, and that's what the video is telling us throught the robot figure, the choreography, the audience and the fact that the video takes place in 2028. In the end he disappears and goes "in the woods" where he will find himself. Back to the essential things of life like his wife and family. The rest of the album will be more country and folk, with a lot of acoustic instruments. And he'll continue telling his personal story by this album.
In context with the video he says “people are going to say it’s fake, so real” and then he disappears in the end is because the robot was real not his human figure. The robot was the one controlling everything. He might have been a robot when he was in *NSYNC, but his solo albums were all him.

@@ritax8196 He teased it was by saying he was becoming apart of the woods. He hinted that the album was supposed to be country, americana, folk, etc. It was hinted to be woodsy and him going back to his roots ( he was born in Tennessee which is the heart of country music). whatever the fuck this song is not was we suspected from what he hinted it to be.
That's what the ending of the video is about. He's being teleported out of his traditional music to try and step into a new genre. It's why the rest of the album is so different from this single
In the audio version you can hear his wife's voice: "Do you see me? Can you find me?" This song really describes Justin's FSLS era when he was a sex symbol. He and Jessica met in 2007 when he had that buzzcut))) In the end he disappears and goes "in the woods" where he will find himself. His life has changed since he met his wife and he'll continue telling his personal story by this album.
Jenna Leigh Beauty News this has been one of his worst songs... Production on this is garbage, way too much going on. Useless lyrics, this will definitely go down as a fail in his book.
Pono801 I'm not really sure why you're trying to use subjective terms to prove a point. Even if this isn't one of his biggest hits, there are plenty of us who do enjoy it. The 150 likes (as I type this) shows me that the song has fans. I'm sorry you don't like it, but the vitriol is a bit misplaced.
When I first watched this, I wondered why JT would tease a Tennessee-roots album, then release a modern dance song with futuristic themes and suggestive content. I think it's on purpose. "Filthy" reminds me of FutureSex/LoveSounds. But the video and lyrics are a message to fans. Like JT is saying: "Guys, here's a song in my classic style, like the ones that made me a sex symbol many years ago." He's not bashing this type of music and dancing. It worked well for him when he was young and single in his 20s. But I think this is him saying "I'm not exactly that guy anymore." That's why it's the robot dancing on stage instead of him. He's a husband and father now. He's in a different place. I didn't get it until the girls came out. There's a moment when it cuts to JT and he's just looking at the audience, like he's wondering what they're thinking or if they get it. Remember, there are 15 more songs on this album. This was a prelude to the more personal stuff. I could be wrong, just my two cents.
I think this makes A TON of sense and is probably very close! I don’t think the song is trash though, especially compared to what is played on the radio every day. Like what are these people hearing that I’m not? 🤷🏼♀️
This track is layered like crazy...it doesn't push your buttons like "Rock Your Body" or "Senorita". Maybe that's why it's not clicking for some people. You gotta listen a couple of times to really get into it. It's a dance song. But there's an overlaying calmness to it.
Sonya Méndez i was cringing, with a WTF look the whole time, not realizing I was bobbing my head to the beat the whole time, lol. It is a grower, for sure.
The fact that this song is so "robotic" and at the end he dissapear, I think in the next video/song he will appear in the woods and reconnect with nature and show us the sound of Tennessee
If people look at the album cover he is dressed in two ways, half outdoorsy/rugged and the other half is dressed tf up ...he feels at home in both worlds, hence man of the woods..he's a southern boy at heart, but he handles his fame/Hollywood life well. JT can codeswitch like a mofo! Robot kinda makes sense, he can't be reproduced, imitated yes, but he's one of a kind. He's the real deal, all around an amazing talent and an excellent entertainer, but who knows maybe the robot will be a theme in all his videos, or maybe it's not that deep at all. Glad he's back
Monica Cuellar at the end of the vid, he "leaves the modern world" Maybe to be the "Man of the Woods?" Who knows, but the album is going to be different
C James Ervin Ooooh good point!!! So maybe the album somehow seamlessly blends both sounds together or half the album could be songs like this, with the other half being more soulful tracks...or the album goes back and forth between different styles...? It'll be interesting to see, can't wait!
MrTarantino clearly jt is using mind control to get you to react strongly to his music 🤣 I love jt but hey everyone isn't a fan. I heard this and thought hmm 🤔 same reaction I had to sexyback and suit &tie but this sound is slightly reminiscent of his futuresexlovesounds album which is my fav album of his, so I'm feelin it!
That's what I was thinking! LOL I was going to say that but you beat me to it! This looks like an episode of Black Mirror for sure....like the new season where JT is in the Infinity game living vicariously lol

Kiero uno
Oerkon tu esenciaaaaaaa ke colonia usas
In the audio version you can hear his wife's voice: "Do you see me? Can you find me?" This song really describes Justin's FSLS era when he was a sex symbol. He and Jessica met in 2007 when he had that buzzcut))) In the end he disappears and goes "in the woods" where he will find himself. His life has changed since he met his wife and he'll continue telling his personal story by this album.
Interesting!
Brooklyn Baby I subscribed to you can you subscribe that would mean the world 👍
Also the No Strings Attached (NSYNC album) reference when the robot frees itself from the strings.
They met before '07. He was lying about that.
Brooklyn Baby icant even find the.audio
Am i the only one that thought it was bad then kept coming back to it!?!?!?!
Manny ikr
I'm doing the same thing and slowly starting to really like it
Manny seriously! Each time I listen I hear it differently. It's freaking me out lol. I like it now haha
Ricanstyleznyc haha
Nadja H hahaa IKR!
Justin manages to reinvent himself, while still having signature sounds and moves. Love this!
Jenna Leigh Beauty News goe
No b
way too much MJ references, at least not the entire video like Weeknd's lol
The most amazing voice, JT.
🎉🎉🎉 yeah
The first time I heard it I was like "eh" but I've came back to listen to it 2 more times, it grew on me
When I first watched this, I wondered why JT would tease a Tennessee-roots album, then release a modern dance song with futuristic themes and suggestive content.
Z that was an amazing observation
woah everyone should read this comment, that makes so much sense
Holy shit dude, this is too deep for me
This should easily be top comment. Nice observation, bud!
I think this makes A TON of sense and is probably very close! I don’t think the song is trash though, especially compared to what is played on the radio every day. Like what are these people hearing that I’m not? 🤷🏼♀️
I had totally forgotten Justin Timberlake was a singer
Childish Gambino no I knew he used to sing but he hadn't done it in a hot minute it totally skipped my mind
Childish Gambino He's also am actor. A pretty good one. I too forgot he had a music career.
Boi👏
mariel ivana
I feel like this part of Justin completely disappeared off the face of the earth
Because of Super bowl
Good

Emily Merter Hey So
Seemed to go off the boil after 20/20 experience dropped IMO
This track is layered like crazy...it doesn't push your buttons like "Rock Your Body" or "Senorita". Maybe that's why it's not clicking for some people. You gotta listen a couple of times to really get into it. It's a dance song. But there's an overlaying calmness to it.
NowDropRecover Yes!
That's me with almost every single one of JT's songs
Its a different song Im not gonna lie but is the kind of song that at first sounds weird and at the end you cant stop playin.
Sonya Méndez i was cringing, with a WTF look the whole time, not realizing I was bobbing my head to the beat the whole time, lol. It is a grower, for sure.
Just like SexyBack. Both songs are very unique and produced by the same people Timbaland and Danja.
Michael Scott hahahahh yeaah😂
The fact that this song is so "robotic" and at the end he dissapear, I think in the next video/song he will appear in the woods and reconnect with nature and show us the sound of Tennessee
Jorge Alonso Vidal Torres OMFG SO TRUE
YOU’RE A GENIUS!!!!!
Interesting, that would explain why this song seems different from what the album title implies.
We can only hope, just not digging on this at all.
Jorge Alonso Vidal Torres that's definitely the next single
Bro I can’t listen to this without seeing the video
If people look at the album cover he is dressed in two ways, half outdoorsy/rugged and the other half is dressed tf up ...he feels at home in both worlds, hence man of the woods..he's a southern boy at heart, but he handles his fame/Hollywood life well. JT can codeswitch like a mofo! Robot kinda makes sense, he can't be reproduced, imitated yes, but he's one of a kind. He's the real deal, all around an amazing talent and an excellent entertainer, but who knows maybe the robot will be a theme in all his videos, or maybe it's not that deep at all. Glad he's back
Monica Cuellar at the end of the vid, he "leaves the modern world"
Maybe to be the "Man of the Woods?"
Who knows, but the album is going to be different
C James Ervin Ooooh good point!!! So maybe the album somehow seamlessly blends both sounds together or half the album could be songs like this, with the other half being more soulful tracks...or the album goes back and forth between different styles...? It'll be interesting to see, can't wait!
How do you explain my headache after listening to this?
MrTarantino clearly jt is using mind control to get you to react strongly to his music 🤣 I love jt but hey everyone isn't a fan. I heard this and thought hmm 🤔 same reaction I had to sexyback and suit &tie but this sound is slightly reminiscent of his futuresexlovesounds album which is my fav album of his, so I'm feelin it!
Dead ass thought the man of the woods stuff was about his clothing line. Not album. lol
Either way i like this.
He looked like he was about to give a TEDtalk.
ShadowGolem86 LMAO
Man's lookin like he on shark tank
When i first saw him it reminded me of Steve Jobs
Introducing the iPhone Timberlake
That was the idea...
Feels like I just watch an episode of Black Mirror
That's what I was thinking! LOL I was going to say that but you beat me to it! This looks like an episode of Black Mirror for sure....like the new season where JT is in the Infinity game living vicariously lol
bri_day Holy shit this reminds me of 15 million merits, Hot Shot
me 2
no......he tried!! black mirror is a masterpiece. this is somethingelse.....
Is this what Black Mirror is?!
The visuals are everything. I love it!
Listening to this the first time I was like ew what the heck then I listened to it a couple of times and am obsessed😍
Crystal Barfield same

Crystal Barfield same reaction when SexyBack came out. Hated it then loved it!

Still listening 2024! Love Justin Timberlake music he's got natural talent in music! 😊
Justin Timberlake just released a song from 2020s. What do you expect?
Dwi Setiawan a good song maybe?
I think he knows what's good.

JT predicted that one day humans and robots can have sex
FunForSameer yeah and it’s not this song
At the beginning I hated it. Then it started playing in my head. Now I'm addicted...
just admit its shit
Vis_Leos not to everyone
Same......and now I hate it even more
It just doesn’t sound great. It’s too techy for me (wow and I’m 16 and mostly hate country music)
Yea this is hot garbage and I am a huge believer in JTs talent. He has been releasing shit interlaced with his good shit for years, though. So par for the course
This is an incredible album.
Every single he has released has taken me a couple listens before I'm obsessed. This is doing that. On the other hand, at least he's continues to experiment with sound. He's never been one to follow the trend. He makes the trend you don't understand until EVERYONE else is doing it.
What trend is that? Since when has Justin Timberlake made any good music??????/
He's doing the same thing Taylor Swift is doing. They're borrowing from past trends and doing them horribly.
ann landers I mean you must have some type of interest if you're on here.....
Payton Dunn Taylor's sound was borrowed. Give me a song that sounds like this other his own Sexback.
TheCaliforniaboy1 completely agree!
I'm glad I came back for a second listen: I'm lovin this.
That's how pop music works; everyone hates it at first and then the second time they're pretty much brainwashed
G 6 it’s mine like 100th
how its so awful?
I've been blasting this for 3 days and my wife is ready to leave me 😂😂😂😂😂
u did 5 crying emojis and im supposed to believe u have a wife? get out of here ya 13 yr old

Thank you so much Katrina and I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music 🎶❤️, Happy New Year once again! Better days are coming
I ❤this friggin song. I played it over and over
This is like Michael Jackson meets Christina’s Aguilara’s “Dirty” meets Steve Jobs meets Tron and I’m living for it.
I don't understand where the Michael Jackson similarities come in.
JT got that swagger best since MJ
You should be banned from commentating on music because that is a crime what you just said.
@@theewildrose He's pure talent whether people like it or not
