    In the last section of video, the complex poles were terminated at infinity and the real poles were at complex zeros. How have we come to know about this? Why vice versa is not right?

  • @mikerudolf6485
    @mikerudolf6485 3 года назад

    AE511: Question at 23:08 - How come you can just drop the K away if it is approaching infinity. It would seem that K is so large that it would have an effect. Is it because a(s) represents the zeros so then no matter what you multiply it by will just go away? Thanks.

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  3 года назад

      Hi Mike, I actually divide both sides by the large K. Since the right hand side is 0, we get 0/K which is 0. Is this what you were asking or did I misinterpret the question?

    AE511: For rule 3, let’s take the case where s is not on the real axis and has an imaginary component (I’m at 1:11:51 right now). Would we still obtain the same result? The angle cancellation of the complementary zeros would not happen in this case.

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  3 года назад

      Hi Brad, this current discussion is only valid for s values on the real axis (no imaginary component). We'll get to candidate locations with imaginary components in a future rule (when we look at angle of departure).

  • @pradityaromansyah
    @pradityaromansyah 4 года назад

    Thank you! Great explanation! But i want to ask you about rules 4, if we only have 1 angle of asymtotes lets say its 180°, it means that we dont need where the centroid is right? Because the centroid is only show where the asymtotes would unite?

  • @justinhendrick3743

    For Rule 1, what if the system isn't proper? The order of the closed loop system could have more poles in that case, right?

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  5 лет назад +1

      Good question. Rule 1 applies only to proper transfer functions. If not, you could have poles coming in from zeros at infinity rather than poles going to zeros at infinity. Does the discussion at 2:31:12 (AKA rule 10) address the concern?

    what is the physical meaning of poles/zeros
    say we have a TF function of a simple RC circuit ,what's the physical meaning of poles/zeros in this circuit

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  5 лет назад

      For an RC circuit, I believe you'd only have a single pole and no zeros (don't quote me on this). The pole would relate to the time constant of the circuit, basically how fast the system responds to changes in inputs. The location of the pole would be related to the resistance and capacitance of the components. By change the components you change the behavior of the system and thus you change the pole of the system.
