F1 Maximum Power Map - Gasly Bahrain Qualifying

In a Bahrain quali lap, Maximum ERS Boost only engaged for about 7 seconds.
Because the full ERS boost sound (wastegate fully open, turbine driven only by MGU-H, the same as the Overtake Mode) is very distinguishable on Alpha Tauri's exhaust mic, it is possible to draw on the map the sections where the full boost is engaged. Bahrain is known for the long straights, so it's only 7s affordable and they use it where it matters the most, to maximize the corner exit speed at T1, 10 & 13. Each is around 2s and each consumes about 8-9% of the battery which is pretty intense.

The green bar on the dashboard is the ers deployment. You can see it raising while breaking and falling at acceleration. So the ers boost is much longer.

So you can see ERS bar on dashboard (ERS DEPLYMENT) rising while braking (actually harvesting). and then falling at acceleration (actually deploying).

crazy analysis! but why dont they use ERS for the entire lap? I always thought quali mode meant dump the battery completely on that 1 lap. Any reason why they dont do this? considering they still havev so much ers left by using it only for 7 seconds?

You can see the blue bar on his steering wheel as its emptying and it only just lasted the whole lap. Also its pre-programed by the team and they are using the whole battery capacity. Bahrain has long straights and not many big braking zones to re-charge some of that energy so you have to manage the deployment. You can see on some tracks (like Zandvoort) they use the full deployment mode for longer.

It empties the whole lap.
The boost is only for acceleration off corner exists.
You can probably use max boost for 9 seconds the most.. but it makes no sense if you are not overtaking or it is not Quali.

I thought mgu h spins the turbo only after corner exit, and ers deployment is simply additional power from battery to mgu k rather than just from the mgu h when the boost limit it is achieved (so extracting the most out of that 100kg fuel).
