I recently purchased a Sun joe TJ604E tiller cultivator and took it out for a spin today. I wanted to see if the Sun Joe would be a good choice for homeowners who do not have a large area to till. The Sun Joe TJ604E is a great choice for people who want a stand alone machine but do not want to spend a lot of money for a gas powered unit. The Sun Joe is a plug in electric tiller but the power was more than enough to handle the challenges I put it up to.

Bought this during this years summer, my advice is to water the ground a couple of days before using. It literally was jumping about 6” into the air when I went across the ground because it was so hard 😂. Other than that it’s fine for small jobs.
OMG.. I never knew the wheels moved now I will have to try this tomorrow.
Ha ha! Wow
I've been after a Mantis tiller for ages but it is always out of stock but this Sun Joe tiller looks like it did a great job and for the price, you can't go wrong. Thanks for the demonstration!
I purchased one from Amazon Prime for my backyard garden beds and have purchased a 3 year extended warranty when I registered it online. Now, all I have to do is take it out of the box and use it.
I loved the flamingo ball! You almost got it in the back of the truck! I stopped the video so I could post my comment.
Thank you for the review!
I renovated 2500 sq./ ft. of turf using the tiller then removed all stones bricks and weeds from the property. Turned out amazing!
Awesome! Yeah this thing is perfect for smaller jobs like that but maybe not really large ones. Thanks for watching!
Yeah o problem buddy! Got my gm 1000 ready for 2020! Ready to go 1" and below! 😁
Thinking of getting one of these for my small garden. We have one of their lawn mowers and it's been great.
You'll be happy with it.
Great review, love the shirt! Was looking into one of these for our gardens. Made my decision easier. Looks like a good machine!
I think if you have similar needs to me its perfect! Thanks for watching.
I was surprised at how well that worked. Nice to see you back in action. Cheers
I was pleasantly surprised as well. It seriously pulls you around. It's good to be back my friend!
Love the ending 😎👍🏼....that’s surprisingly powerful, works like my Mantis without the loud engine noise.
Thank you sir! I was really pretty happy with how well it did! And no loud engine noise is certainly a plus.
Thanks for doing this. I just bought one from Menards
The greener lawn tips monster
I am mad I didn’t see any PPE at the end
@@TheLawnTools safety third.
How well does it work at breaking hard ground? Also it would be easier to hear what you were saying if we could hear you over the music.
Yes my gas powered one does the same thing with root. These are cool though
It would be interesting to see how it would do on really dense clay soil in Illinois. That would be an excellent test
It may struggle a little with heavy clay soil.
I just bought mine and love it. Darn this gives you quite the workout!
imagine a gas machine!
Brett is BACK! Awesome!😎👊
Glad to be back in the lawn!
Fact: all Schrute boys were given a tiller for their fifth birthday present.
I've always wondered how these little cultivators would handle cookie cutters. 3:05 tells the tale. :) seriously... this was a helpful video. thanks!
Your soil looks well worked already---no rocks or anything else that interferes with the tiller. What about soil that is not already well worked and has stones and rocks and is hard and compacted? This machine does not seem powerful enough to cut through that type of soil. How far down can this tiller go? Can it till down to 2 ft?
What type of shenanigans do you got going on at the beginning of this video?!?
All these fancy electric devices... wow! Looks to have pretty decent power, great stuff!
Boys will be boys at the end .... when adult kids get in the lawn.
Welcome back greener lawn! I'm actually a pretty big fan of it. It worked well for my small area.
Looks like a great machine. I have a Stihl Yardboss and it gets roots and grass lodged into the tines as well. Many times I have to pull the tines to get all the debris out! You and Jeremy have far too much fun!
Yeah I figured it was a common issue.
Yes we do like to have fun! Thanks for watching!
I saw some other reviews saying to cut the grass before you use it to avoid that. I’m hoping I don’t have that problem.
your music is way, way too loud couldn't hear you talking
It's so cute
The front lawn is perfect
Thank you!
4:46 Just 100$ ?? The prices have gone up significantly after COVID19.
For the price point that thing works pretty well.
That's exactly what I thought! Now I can put it away for the year and I own it for the cost of renting a gas one.
@@Brettsgrasscapades that's exactly why I bought their dethatcher last fall. Use it twice and it's paid for itself.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns exactly. If you don't need a professional machine because of a small lawn it makes total sense!
How do you control the radio volume????
Parts are not available, my liner helix is broken and they discontinued manufacturing that part
I have one for my garden, the only problem I have with it, is, I’m short.
I want to use mine but I don't know what's the right extension cord for this.
please help!!!!!!!!!
Thank you
Thank you for instruct on wheels the manual isn't very detailed
First. Hopefully you pulled the spark plug out before clearing the roots out of the cultivator.

First? What are you, a 12 year old girl? That’s all you have to live for?
@@Joesmusclecargarage I sure am palio, and only have these videos to live for.
Looks like a solid dethatcher.........
First Aussie 😁. UN TILL the next time 😎👍🏼👍🏼
Good Sunday to you my friend.
Trevor Muggeridge fake news... there was an Aussie riding an American at the beginning of this video.
Well , good evening to you two Utahrians, have a good weekend. 😎
I'm convinced!
I never use the middle position either... 🙃
#flamingokick .... yes!
Ben with the Johnson shot at the end lol
I thought it was funny and had to add it.
I thought the tiller had a turbo but it was that funky music lol. Sun Joe makes good stuff not the best but for the money you can't complain.
I've been really happy with sun Joe's stuff. Like you said it's not the professional grade stuff but for most homeowners its perfect.
I actually liked the music 🎶🎵😅
Does the job. Good to use in new flower beds or smaller gardens. I like it! I started with some Ego Lawn tools in 2020, will share those in a few weeks on my channel. Gas engines are great but sometimes overkill for the job and more maintenance.
I thought about getting the ego attachment since I've got the system already but at $175 it was more than I wanted to spend on a tool I won't use often.
Brett's Grasscapades Agree, you made the right move for something used less frequently. I have the 580 blower and just picked up the edger. These I’ll use weekly. I’ll do a review of each this season. Stay well!
First...... well at least the first today 🤷🏻♂️. That looks like a cute little toy that works pretty good
What gauge of extension cord did you use? I am using 12 AWG gauge 100 ft.
That was awesome!!!!!
Thank you sir!
@@Brettsgrasscapades that bit with Ben and Jeramy was choice 👍👍👍👍🤣🤣😜
Awesome. I’m going to get one
I think you will be pretty happy with it!
I like the slow-mo action.
Do I need to water the a couple days before I use this? I have weeds and want to replant new plants. Thanks
It's up to you but that would probably help make the ground softer.
@@Brettsgrasscapades ok thank u. 👍
Will it dig in hard dirt?
Nice shirt
That's what she said.
How does it do with clay?
Brett,i have 50,000 sqft lawn....do you think I get a wider type that can make my work simpler even one that i can attach to a tractor.( Any links)
I don't know of a wider electric one but they make pull behind ones for a tractor they are very pricey though.
@@Brettsgrasscapades okay tnx,i hope they just till the land without altering the contours?
Great video, noticed the trigger finger cut off that glove too😎🇺🇸💯
Thank you for the video but the music is much too loud and takes away from the content.
Hands down, I'd trade the tuning, gas, smell, exhaust, many moving parts, etc... from a gas version for an electric one. Superior in many ways. I am done with gas.
The area I want to till has many smallish rocks buried within it. Could this machine handle that?
Yes it should fine if they are not too large.
Does this tiller even out the ground?
No
It's unfortunate that a reasonably informative video is completely unwatchable because of the music soundtrack.
Super annoying, right?
13.5 amps needs a much heavier gauge extension cord or it's going to overheat and fry that motor
I just got one of these and I'm thinking my 100 ft 14 awg cable won't be enough. What do you think?
@@poof3192 14g is too light. 12g is required over that length.
God damn your front yard is flat. My backyard has a swell in the middle do you think I can sitll plant grass on a sloping middle yard where the drain is?
nice video
I was so looking forward to your demonstration. your background music is so loud it drowns your voice out... so 😢 sad
these are designed to be pulled backwards
Do you work at Dunder Mifflin?
Maaaaayyyyybeeeee...
Good review, but I can barely hear you or the tiller. That music is atrocious, lol
😂😂😂 mistakes were made with the music choice. Not sure how I thought that was a good idea
How was it if it hit stones or rocks?
I didnt have any big rocks when I've used it.
Great video. I have a question, what is your height?
I'm about 5'11" and this was a great tool for me!
Not getting that one.thanks
Is this good for using to take out weeds?
It could definitely be used for that.
@@Brettsgrasscapades thank you I appreciate it! Also how often do you have to stop the machine to take the roots out?
@@jacobcelello3388 small roots it handles but larger ones you will have to remove.
Ditch the background music. Distracting and overpowers you.
Love the tiller, hate the music.
Thats fair! Thanks for watching.
Please no more loud music.
damn man you had me until the psychedelic music came on... it was just weird.
Lol yeah poor choice of music for sure.
Lol
Every single piece of electric equipment for yard equipment i ever bought in my entire life have all had amazing reviews but ended up being steaming hot piles of dog shit

Electric garden equipment 👍🏽. Electric cars👎🏽 🤷🏽♂️
"Music" killed the whole thing. Lame.
I just bought mine and so far, looks like it’s going to be a great machine.. see here: ruclips.net/video/gcy8ZC4YgwQ/видео.html
We don't want or need pointless music.
Lose the music, can not hear you talk.
