- The Gila River Loop Trail is a 29 mile trail that starts on a smooth dirt road that transitions into a sandy wash, and rocky trails. Great views of the Gila River, some cabin ruins, train bridge and tunnel, and a wonderful desert landscape. Ran this in a stock Jeep JLU Rubicon.
If the gate is open when you arrive you still close it as you leave.
This is one of my favorite trails. My kids always want to come back here.
Definitely a fun trail. Train bridge crossing the river is a neat spot.
Great video my friend. Nice to see other enjoying the Jeep lifestyle which is more then rock or mall crawling. I have very similar adventures myself to learn and explore state I grew up in Arizona. I never knew how beautiful the desert was until I purchased a jeep
Definitely is a great place to explore. So much to see. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Why didn't you go to Cochran and down to the river there? Nice tree tunnel down to the river.
It is on my list to explore further out there. Wanted to get to the train bridge primarily.
@@Trail89Adventures Cool, heading to Montana Mt this am
@@raymondrichard547 have a great run. Always enjoy Montana Mountain. Little bit of everything out there. Make sure to stop at the old cabin at the bottom of the switchbacks.
You make great videos. How long in time was your trip here? sub'd
Thanks! I would say I was out there for a total of 4-5 hours.
I have done this trail twice at night. What a blast!!
I could see that being a great night run. Have you ever gone all the way around to the west side of the train tunnel? Tried to run that trail but got a bit sketchy. That is where I turned around.
@@Trail89Adventures I have and it is very sketchy. A lot of Salt Cedar trees that will scratch your Jeep very badly. Also, you cannot get to the other end of the tunnel as this part of the trail dead ends at the river with no crossing available. There is a trail that off shoots to the right about halfway that will take you to near the top of South Mountain. Really great views.
@@brcrowell1 I was just out at the Rolls today running trails. Think I clocked like 38 miles.
@@Trail89Adventures That's a fun one if you like to climb and descend hills. Have you ever done the Ripsey Mine trail off Florence-Kelvin highway? I have videos on my channel of that and many other trails near Florence.
@@brcrowell1 Heard of it. Haven’t done it. I will have to check out your videos. I have a stock Rubicon and surprised what this thing can do.
Where's the start?

Coordinates in link above are the starting point at Cochran Rd and Florence Kelvin Highway.
@@Trail89Adventures Thank you! Visited a few places because of your vids!
@@bigperm005 cool. Thanks for watching. Which ones did you run? Any favorites?
Nice drive, I'll have to give it a go. I'm a newbie looking for trails like this. What app or device were you using to tell you that you were off your route? Thanks.
On this trail I was using the All Trails app. It is generally for hiking but the Gila River Loop was listed as Off Road trail.
Most of the time I use Trails Offroad and Gaia GPS for trail routes. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Looks like fun
Definitely a fun trail. Thanks for watching.
enjoyed the ride thanks. by the way what type of gadget do you have to hold the phone and the walkie talky? been looking for one like it
Thanks for watching. The mount is made by Bulletpoint. Had it about a year. Works great!
What is to the right of your cell phone?
It is a Garmin in-reach mini gps tracker. Also allows you to send out a message via satellite in an emergency. Great for areas without cell coverage
@@Trail89Adventures very nice! Thanks for sharing.
I originally used it because I was hiking in a lot of places without cell coverage and now find a lot of the trails I run in the Jeep in the same situation. Good piece of mind. Also carry GMRS radio.
@@Trail89Adventures I need to look into both because I do a lot of hiking and off-roading in areas with limited to no cell phone service. Always better to have it and never need it than not have it and need it.
