100 percent agree with you In our business of selling and repairing computers, it often surprises customers when we charge a diagnostic fee. Similarly, when individuals seek my advice on social media and I suggest booking a consultation, their reactions of surprise are quite evident. Like the expect my company to work for free

Hey Ant! I started following you when you started with Twit. I resonate with your message. I am a creative as well as a DJ that started in the early 90's. The problem that I found in the DJ industry is that there are too many rookie DJ's that are either not charging or charging very little that ends up dimensioning the value that an experienced DJ brings. It's not until after an event is ruined by a rookie DJ that the client realizes or learns that you get what you pay for. That same problem exists in the creative industry. The way I see it is that we can't control what both sides are doing, client and creative, but we should maintain our level of worth and not under price ourselves. The clients that are ok with rookie work are getting what they want, whereas the client that is looking for pro results knows who to avoid and who to consider working with.

I would create a pseudonym to work under, take the $250 jobs and only use my phone to film it and spend 30 minutes editing it.

Don’t forget the education and experience you’ve built up. That goes into costs.
I always think of the analogy of the mechanic that smacked the part of the engine just right and charged $500 for 5 minutes. His reason was because he knew what part needed that done.

Patreon my man. Patreon. If you haven't figured it out by now, fellow tech guys like Rene Ritchie sold his soul to RUclips and he admits that he hasn't had the time to address nor the time to be a creator. He can't possibly stick up for other creators because he is now liable and expected to be loyal on RUclips's behalf, not creators. Which is why content creators have gone the route to Patreon instead of using the RUclips Subscription model. We are here to support but many like myself will only go through Patreon to pay you. As long as RUclips exploits creators and keeps on moving the goal posts for their policies, I will only support my creators if they move to Patreon. I don't want my money being siphoned through RUclips at all.

I’ve had people steal my photos and post them as their own, only to be shocked when I had them taken down. They thought that it was no big deal. People also forget that in addition to the costs you listed, you’re charging for the thousands of hours you’ve spent honing your craft.
