Did you not know about Toton bank on the far side? Last time I went I parked in a housing estate and walked for 5 minutes you get Heightened perspective from there on the side where the scrap 60s are. Toton is OK, went in 87 as a kid running around the shed on an authorised visit. Was full of 45s, 47, 56s, 20s, 37s and 08s back then. I did barrow hill and Tinsley as well.. Magical days indeed.
Hello Purple, I Remember going there in the late 1970’s, appears over half the site has now been left to nature, pity you weren’t around with your drone when Tinsley was open, that was also a massive site.
A better view is from the bank on the east side. M1J25, take A52 towards Nottingham turn right at the 1st roundabout towards Toton, down hill to the lights and turn right on Banks Road, go as far as a turning circle and park up. Then its through the bushes onto a footpath that will take you to the top of the hill .
Hi just a little observation, I see in the description it says mainly owned by DB Schenker UK, I think it should be DB Cargo UK. The Schenker side is mainly for the road logistics side of things, and Cargo is the more traditional rail side.
@@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventures I only really noticed as i made the same mistake a couple of years ago, I work for DB Cargo, and when I was researching the company ready for my interview, I found a fair amount of stuff referencing DB Schenker, but not too much about the newer name.
That site would make one heck of a basis for a model railway! I expect you have already clocked that GBRf are supporting a gala at the Nene Valley Railway over 7 - 8 Sept, including a tour of their Peterborough HQ?
Just seen this comment. My thing still applies. £4 on a platform ticket only but £40 in Neil's petrol tank. Neil did buy breakfast and lunch though. My money will be spent at NVR just because they need all the support they can muster. Saturday is GBRF Gala so me and Ryan are going
@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventures That's great news! I think the GBRF depot tours sold out ages ago, even at £70 a pop, but I am sure there will still be plenty to see.
Been to Toton a few times when I was with EWS / DB . DBC seems to be losing contracts to other companies these days. EWS started off well and went down hill and went down hill even faster when DB took it over.
Soo many locos ...dunno if that's a good thing - arn't they meant to be out revenue earning ? What I initially thought was a staff car park was actually a queue for the car transporter train. Lovely to see, thanks Purple & Ryan
Hi purple x Ryan x co 😊 who doesn't like track laying machinery 🤔No TWAIIIINS without it 😊 just like no aerial views without mobious 1 👁️eye in the sky. If you get chance can ya do a video showing how they load and unload cars onto train carriages.👍👍👍

Hi David this is my part of the country Nottinghamshire.Great video of Toten sidings and maintenance shed 👏👏👏👍
Nottingham and Derby look extremely interesting. I bet you know a few good abandoned railway bits
Gorgeous livery, that Maritime Blue!! We had one at the Hoddesdon Model and Railway Club this morning!!
How was the exhibition?

Noted. Thank you
Toton sidings, my "playground" in the 1960s. At one time the largest marshalling yards in Europe.
Oh wow. Europe you say? Awesome
The music is good with the video, my friend!!
Jamie's quite talented 👌

Yh I did see but my money may be taken up by visiting tornado there next week
@@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventures I think Tornado will be an even better day. Great for filming and an opportunity that does not come along too often.

Nope. There's no point if the shed tours are sold out. It's Kettering & District Model Railway Exhibition so I'll do that instead

Your not the only person to say that. What have the Germans done 😆

Hmm is strange seeing them all stabled like that. I know the back row lot are being scrapped one by one.
Good to see that Toyota is transporting cars by train rather than just putting them on trucks!!
Absolutely
Please remind me where Toton is. I think it’s in the south-west of the country, but I can’t place it immediately!!

You're thinking of Totton, Hampshire near Southampton.
That's the one
I didn't know there was another Totton
Hi purple from Dan

Ah that's a big ask but it is something I'd like to see myself at some point. If I get the chance I wil
