I Got This Asked as a College Interview Question, and I FAILED to Answer

Squaring both sides gives (x+28)+2sqrt( x+28(x)))+x=196. Diving both sides by 2 gives sqrt(x^2+28x)=84-x. Answer is 36. You're left with (84^2)/(14^2)

Fun fact. When you have the sqrt(x+28)+sqrt(x)=14 and sqrt(x+28)-sqrt(x)=2 you know that sqrt(x+28)=8 so x+28 = 64 => x=64-28=36

=> √(x+28) = (14 - √x)
On squaring both sides, we have
(√(x + 28))² = (14-√x)²
=> x + 28 = 196 + x - 28√x
=> 28 = 196 - 28√x
=> 28√x = 196 - 28
=> 28√x = 168
=> √x = 168/28
=> √x = 6
On squaring both sides again, we have
(√x)² = (6)²
x = 36

I have made a mistake that I have not taken √x to the right side in starting and this makes the process a little bit difficult and time taking like squaring 84 and dividing 7056 with 196 😅😅😅😅. Thanks for the simple method buddy 😸😸😺🙋‍♂️

Take (x)^1/2 on R.H.S
(x+28)^1/2=14-(x)^1/2
Squaring both sides and using (a-b)^2=a^2+b^2-2ab
28+x=196+x-2((x)^1/2)14
28-196=-28((x)^1/2)
168/28=(x)^1/2
6=(x)^1/2

The problem was great so i have tought about another problem but solving it was a bit hard. Does someone know how to solve this easier:
x+sqrt(x)=6
x=6-sqrt(x)
x^2=36+x-12sqrt(x)
x^2-x+12sqrt(x)=36
x^2-x+12sqrt(x)=(x+sqrt(x))^2 -> original problem was x+sqrt(x)=6 so 36=(x+sqrt(x))^2
x^2-x+12sqrt(x)=x^2+2xsqrt(x)+x
12sqrt(x)=2xsqrt(x)+2x
(12-2x)sqrt(x)=2x
x(12-2x)^2=4x^2
(12-2x)^2=4x
144-48x+4x^2=4x
4x^2-52x+144=0
x^2-13x+36=0
(x-9)(x-4)=0
x= 4 or 9
if we try 9 it doesn't satisfy
x=4
