I think Pierre is always waiting for Lara to solve everything. He's probably waiting in a little corner. 😂 I actually quite enjoy this level, and the boss fight at the end.😊
Haha 😂 now I’m just imagining Pierre crouching behind rocks and stuff just shouting random things and following Lara when she’d done all the work, love it 😅❤️ Yes I do agree that the boss fight at the end is really cool and fun 🥰
The centaurs battle is super difficult, I struggled a lot my first time with it to figure out what to do 😅 but I really enjoy the difficulty and spectacle of it 🥰
Suzanne - "Those crocs can't get me if I don't go in the water!" (Glowy-eyed land croc that surprises Suzanne and the channel members a few minutes later) - "Hey, that's cool! I'm actually terrified of water myself!" Let's hang out on this dry Cistern floor! 😂 You still handled yourself pretty well considering both the crocs and the challenging centaur battle! I personally miss all the windy side rooms of this once two-part level, but I love how the actual Cistern chamber looks in the remake. That ceiling is a work of art!
You know, sometimes life throws a surprise at us at the most unexpected of moments. I mean, if you told me that a level, consisting of the absolute basics of two TR1 levels and one of the biggest character assassinations in TR but, would end up bringing me one of the best crafted moments in the entire franchise and one of the strongest points of this game, I would have ask: Hey, are you okay? 🤣 Clearly this level has many reasons for being a total flop. The swimming at the beginng is totally pointless (and a reminder on how much swimming in this game sucks). When most of us think on the Cistern and Tomb of Tihocan, probably what comes to mind is the big hall and the tomb entry. But what made the Cistern so good in TR1 are the branching sections and in the Tomb, the journey to get there. The Cistern here feels a bit rushed. When you enter, you can map the entire hall, solve the puzzle from the entrance and get everything done in 10 min, no need for guessing here. Things get better at the gate of the Tomb. The chant at 26:19 fits perfectly here and, the tomb itself looks really good. But the cutscene feels atrocious to me. The way Pierre behaves feels like he lost the race and he's now stealing success from Lara. If he commited to a clean race he though he could win but now he can't deal with a defeat, and the awakening of the Centaurs is just stupid. Why do they get up AFTER the Scion has been taken? And why on earth did Pierre think that the Centaurs would only target whoever held the Scion rather than any form of human life around? Pierre feels so downgraded compared to the smart, competitive and all-for-the-win version of TR1. And at this point someone brough pizzas to the studio and people got extremelly creative. This level has once last chance to redeem itself and.. oh my god what a piece of art comes next. The battle against the Centaurs is a combination of the best of each element and what they achieved here is very interesting. I died over 30 times but never felt frustrated, it was one of the nicest challenge in the game and I was always eager to give it another try. The reason this fight works so well is because it establishes a number of rules and sticks to them without any automatic solver or anything. The enemies do this and Lara has to do this, no more no less. First of all, the LAU engine is designed around combat due to how smooth Lara moves and the capability of targel lock and move around the foe so, the setting of the game is on the strongest side of its core. Then, there are two enemies which implies double the danger and they tend to move quite randomly, adding to the confusion and need to be aware of where each one is and so demanding more concentration from the player. Then there's their attack. I begin just randomly tumbling around but, no matter what, Lara still got hit. The developers clevely added blast damage to the fireballs AND ballistics from Age of Empires 2 and the result is bananas. The Centaurs calculate where Lara will be once the projectile hits the ground so they aim there which again, forces the player to get concentrated and evade the projectiles at the right moment, not just recklessly swing around. The fact that you can’t defeat them by just shooting them is also a very interesting move as, similar to the T-Rex, transforms the showdown into a fighting puzzle. And the cherry on top of this carbonara of perfection is the track. This has to be one of the most epic tracks from Troels Brun Folmann and it so deep and full of soul that elevates this fight from an already excelent combat where the player has to put all of its mind there, to an absolute epic battle where dying is just a reason to prolong the fun a little longer. This is indeed a level that lost a lot from its original content but the very last section is, once more, a fragment of LAU greatness and, in my opinion, the best bossfight in the entire franchise.
Totally agree with this! The level as a whole is a bit of a disappointment, as the cistern is very pared back and loses all puzzle and confusion aspects it had. Although I’m happy for that and that it’s quick 😅 The cutscene is stupid and they made Pierre so silly and caricature 🙄 But that boss fight is awesome! Holy moly what excitement! After three underwhelming levels, that fight made me feel alive 😂❤️
That darn crocodile waiting at the bottom of the ladder freaked me out so badly! 🙀 It was the only interesting part in this Cistern, no wonder I forgot about it 😂 Also the Centaur boss fight... Oh my, I remember all of the frustration trying to beat them, but now I enjoy that battle even though it's very difficult 😅
Wow. So they cut the enormous puzzle-box of a level that is The Cistern and the long trek that is the bulk of Tomb of Tihocan down to a single water puzzle? They’re two of my favourite levels in the original, so if I hadn’t given up a few levels before I absolutely would have at this point. And then we don’t even get the chance to properly fight Pierre, or kill him… but instead two conventional enemies are upgraded to boss status for one of those tedious ‘do a complex manoeuvre a hundred times until you’re lucky enough to get it right’ battles. Yeah, I’m fully getting why some people reckon CD don’t actually like the Core games. This genuinely made me angry!
@absentwithconcept yes, which is frustrating as heck as both levels have a lot of personality and I also hate how Pierre is depicted. But I have to admit that I love the centaur fight. CD, sometimes pull really neat moments out of TR. Sadly, just sometimes 😅
I have to admit, I’m not sad to see those two levels cut down 😅 But I do get why it’s disappointing for those who aren’t terrified of water 💔 I hate that we don’t get the epic stand off with Pierre, but I do really enjoy this boss battle. I think it’s really exciting and a nice spectacle 😍 This game is still remaining as my least favourite in the franchise though 😂
The fight against the Centaurs is definitely a highlight. I love the combination of dropping the pistols and turning the shield against them. A great boss battle. Well played.
Great game play i really enjoyed it. They should remaster tomb raider legend anniversary and underworld i think they would look great if they got remastered.
Hi, Suzanne. At 30:23. I think Pierre thought the sentors was only going to go afrer the person with the scion. And that is why he through it to Lara. But alas they killed him.
Ngl whenever I get to this level I often just cheese through most of it by using a flight glitch (jumping to a ledge in a way that she quickly steps onto it instead of climbing or mantling onto it and drawing the guns at the same time, making her able to walk on air as long as you don't put the guns away or stop moving) and making my way to the room that takes you to the last area haha. Also while I wish we fought Pierre, the boss fight is really neat, especially the part where they can petrify
35:18 I never knew that Lara’s forward slide attack from Legend was ever implemented in this game! It must’ve been a slight mishap on behalf of Anniversary’s developers because there’s just not a single moment in this game that could call for her sliding forwards against any of her enemies 😂 (unless this was an attempt at an evasive manoeuvre). Lara would only do that forward slide attack mechanic in Legend against guards when wanting to throw them backwards a few meters in the air during combat.
@35:00 why did it take your lara so long to get up. Mine got up immediately i think. You must have some special/cursed version of the game with extra hard difficulty.
Ah yes, the Centaur bosses. My sister and I smashed our faces against those for ages as kids and couldn't figure it out, it was only when I came back as a teen that I got it. Pretty neat boss fight as far as this game goes once you know what to do, even if the mechanics can sometimes be... Finnicky. Never say "yay" and start celebrating until both bosses are dead, or they spite you with fireballs to the face.
My impression of the whole section is actually positive. Although they changed the levels(Some benefited from this, some did not) they attempted to a better research than Core Design ( I still remember the Thor and Neptune in St. - Francis - Folly though). One of the downsides is the complete absence of the language from both. I cannot wait to see your reaction when you play Redux.
@suzannetheraider.you did really well at this level and fighting the sentaurus and you are really good at the target shots i honestly haven't played yomb raider Anniversary for a long time but i will definitely always remember this fight i was stuch for a few days trying to figure out what to do i even looked it up because i was stuck it was difficult for me this fight and i wasn't very good at the target shoot s but eventually got past it im glad you are having fun playing through this game ❤😊
It is a must to turn Lara to gold in Palace Midas. Did think the effect was better in the original but I do remember really liking Anniversary when I first played it
Aye, the Atlantian creatures seem far more aggressive and fast in this game. I tried to write a comment to those artistic geniuses Toby Gard and Jason Botta complimenting them on the horrific centaurs which I added, were right out of Durante (Dante) Alighieri's Inferno, which seems to be an influence on the storytelling of Tomb Raider. I kind of feel the same way about the frosty giants of TR Underworld. Some of the best artists in the world have a great appreciation for Dante's Divine Comedy and Gustav Dore's brilliant lithographic depictions of it. Being from that gorgeous Emerald Isle, of course you're obviously an artistic appreciator. It truly shows ☘️🥰🇮🇪🍀. I'm really anxious to see the remastered art in TR IV-VI. The Last Revelation is my favorite TR game. As a mutt of an American, I'm part British and Irish from both me Ma and Da, so I have that peculiar obsession with Egypt. What do you want to bet they will very soon find the real Tomb of Cleopatra in Alexandria? My favorite tales of Chronicles were the Russian submarine and the Haunted Island with the comical Irish Priest Bram. Also, the AOD game had a lot of great art in it, and now you will be able to zoom in and see it up close.
I really dislike the swooshing sounds Lara makes moving around lol. Pierre is a goober in this, I would’ve thrown it and 🏃♂️ so fast lol (then again I wouldn’t go against Lara in the first place). Can’t wait to see Egypt.
Haha yes the swooshing is annoying 😂 Pierre is made to be a bit stupid in this, when that’s not his character at all. It feels like they swapped Larson and Pierre’s personalities. Egypt will be………interesting 🙈❤️
As a '90s kid who didn't grow up with TR1, I didn't have much issues with TRA. It was actually my favorite in the LAU. But after finally playing TR1, in spite of its dated graphics, I found myself preferring it over TRA. Ngl, tho, watching the Centaurs finish Pierre off so swiftly, after knowing the character in the original, felt satisfying to me, lol. Here's to hoping Core Design's 10th Anniversary game (which's being worked on by fans as we speak) sees a full release.
TR1 will always just be magical for me 😍 But yes, it’s fun to see annoying Pierre get squished 😅 I would love to see the 10th Anniversary game released 🥰
After wattching your Anniversary videos again, I am reminded again that I have mixed opinions on the ideas from core Vs those at crystal: Firstly I was a bit diapointed that you do very little in disposing of Natlas hired henchmen yourself such as pierre, larson, kode and Jerome because mostly everything happens in the cutscenes, or we end up doing some quick time pressing which takes away the action and the mystique of elements, such as when the characters run away, disapear (when your back is turned) and come at you again which really makes it feel like they are constantly attacking and evading, This atmosphere really adds to the mystery where did they go and when will they come back? On the other hand however this game has some awesome boss fight scenes, interactions and quick times Apparently Toby gard actually wanted quick times in the original game, but obviously it was too ambitious in 1996. Also the chatacters have been fleshed out a lot more which on one hand is good, but on the other the Original game added mystery to the characters when we knew almost nothing about them. Ah this message is exhausting to read, sorry
I really agree with this! Better boss battles and the fleshed out characters are great! But taking away all of Lara’s human encounters and turning them into quick time really takes away form then game 😞💔
Oh my, how has this game not broken you yet? Though it's interesting how they lengthened the centaur fights, I would've raged so much if I were playing. 😅 I'm seeing now that the devs cut out rooms and expanded the ones they kept, which can be good and bad. I...think I prefer the remaster version, to be honest. But this one has great detail and design. It's just lacking in uhh...fun. 😂 love the triple video day, Suzanne!
I am reminded more and more why I do not like this game 😂 But it is fun in a way to rediscover it 🙈❤️ And I do love the centaur fight 😍 Now that we have the remaster, I think Anniversary suffers even more 💔 That’s the perfect way to describe this game, lacking in fun 😩

not you trying to be logical when your are playing the game, and also the fact that Pierre (my man btw) was unkillable in this segment in the Og game. and you are here looking for logic? girl .... 27:12 😆 i don't know why you hate water so much - you should play subnautica 😆 29:33 oh Pierre - you can paint me all day, i need his beard to tickle my hole. it's like i want him to be a cannibal and i want to be his meat. I hope kids are not reading my comments, especially this one. It's like, Pierre Larson and Kold - the bald guy. all three at the same time. idgaf. just like doja cat said: i said what i said, paint the walls white. to everyone who read that. remember vitamin D is really important in Europe when there's a winter season overall great video and gameplay but that's nothing new on this channel...
That’s very true, Pierre was a bullet sponge in the original, so logic is out the window 😂 omg! 🙈 Hopefully kids aren’t reading that 😅 Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🥰

Hi Suzanne
Hi Neptune 👋
Hi, Suzanne. Its not real its just a computer game. Mind you some computer games scare me. So Your going to be OK. 👍😊❤
Bye Pierre, i will miss you sooooooooooooooooo much. not
😂😂😂
not you trying to be logical when your are playing the game, and also the fact that Pierre (my man btw) was unkillable in this segment in the Og game. and you are here looking for logic? girl ....
27:12 😆
i don't know why you hate water so much - you should play subnautica 😆
29:33 oh Pierre - you can paint me all day, i need his beard to tickle my hole. it's like i want him to be a cannibal and i want to be his meat. I hope kids are not reading my comments, especially this one. It's like, Pierre Larson and Kold - the bald guy. all three at the same time. idgaf. just like doja cat said: i said what i said, paint the walls white.
to everyone who read that. remember vitamin D is really important in Europe when there's a winter season
overall great video and gameplay but that's nothing new on this channel...
That’s very true, Pierre was a bullet sponge in the original, so logic is out the window 😂 omg! 🙈 Hopefully kids aren’t reading that 😅
Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🥰
No pierre and you got a deal sweetie.
