My childhood in Texas, my cousin had a dodge with a 440, it was like no I won’t idle on cold days. Was a horrible experience trying to get to school on time.
This tells me the thermostatic heat riser has been bypassed which is very critical for cold starts in any temperature. My ‘62 Galaxie has to have it. As a mechanic, vigorously pumping the accelerator doesn’t help any what does help is to floor it and hold the pedal on the floor 3 seconds to give the motor a good shot of gas which is partially flooding the engine. Be patient your engine is cold natured like mine give it time to warm up some. The Thermostatic heat riser is simple to repair and is a great cold weather starting aid. It decreases warm up times exponentially. I hope this helps.
Getting the crappy automatic choke working right takes a lot of finesse. I got to the point on a couple of cars where I decided I didn't need it. That foot action there tells me his choke either doesn't work, or only works when it is super cold outside.
There are three sets of bolt holes for the motor mounts. Slant 6, small block, and big block. Trans mount & cross mount and drive shaft all work with no modification. You will have to figure out the rad hoses. Easy swap.
@@richmondproductions2914 440 production ended in 78 and 78 was also the last year they were used in cars. 79 was last year for trucks and RVs just using up the backlog of engines on hand if I remember correctly
Hello ... I love your video and your boots.. I am a photographer and I done a lot of pedal pumping video reeving and pictures at auto auto show.. I love to meet and chat with you...
I used the ones online when I did it, try pretending that the distributer cap is turned 180 degrees and put the wires on that way, like when looking at the picture online, the #1 plug wire would actually go in the #6 spot on the motor. I can’t remember if that’s the truck or not where the distributer was funny like that
I changed the carb on it to an edelbrock and it ran fine, I don’t have the truck anymore though. Was real hard to tune cause of the mild cam, it had horrible vacuum.
