The main lifting bridge and one of two bridges in Poole crossing the waterway leading to Upton Lake (the other bridge being the Twin Sails Bridge). I filmed this bridge for the first time in April 2019 after it was re-opened after major maintenance and refurbishment back in 2018. The bridge is also known as a "Bascule bridge" and was constructed in 1927. In the videos of this bridge, the full sequence of the bridge raise is shown. The video was filmed using the Ultra-Wide lens on my phone.
There was traffic queuing across the bridge most of the day here. One vehicle stopped a little late when the lights started, and blocked one of the barriers. After three bridge announcements by the bridge controller to move forward, I decided to tell the driver.
I would like to note that it is illegal for anyone to ignore a flashing red wigwag (as seen in the video). Therefore, I only advised this driver to move forward after clear instruction from the bridge controller, and wouldn't have said to move forward had there been no tannoy announcements made.

Well done on intervening there. Even though the lights were flashing, it was a very wise move to relay the message to the driver to continue on through the bridge as that's the operator was trying to tell them to do. Still, a bit of forward planning and adherence to the amber lights from them wouldn't've gone amiss!

Thank you. Yeah, would've been far easier and safer to just continue driving forward. They were way past the stop line when they stopped anyway.
The pedestrian gate alarm was going off for an eternity. What took that so long - was that obstructed too? I noticed another announcement after the driver got the idea and drove through.
The pedestrian gates have quite a long delay to close. The last announcement was the bridge controller saying 'thank you' I believe.

I wish something would have come over a tannoy on North Bridge,Hull when i was slap bang in the middle and the siren went off.A 'don't worry Amanda,this bridge won't lift until you are well away from it' would have stopped a lot of panicky swearing!
