Thanks for watching everyone! The feedback has been so positive so far!
James Reiner Shenmue is my favorite game on the dreamcast.
such a great game!! thanks for watching!
you are so lucky. you went to the promised land. i'm still working on mine. going to save up and have a shenmue trip of my own! :)
great stuff buddy
James Reiner hopefully they stop playing and really release part 3
So cool, don't be late at home , Ine San would be worried !!!
I was 10-11 yrs old when my 2nd oldest brother introduced and let me Play Shenmue 1 on the dreamcast. Video Games are not my thing but i liked watching my older brothers play them (im the only girl out of 5 brothers) and to just play Shenmue, i had to wake up at 4:30-5 am every morning to get my turn. Shenmue is very special to me as it was the first and till this day the only Game and series i have ever played all the way and completed. I loved this game so much! Totally ahead of its time! I used to get anxiety when the fight scenes happened because you had to press the right button on time to beat the bad guys lol i even loved how you can buy capsule toys and collect them and buy the sardines, milk and fishcake to feed the cat. Oh! And the darts game at the arcade! Omg the memories are flowing to me. Im now turning 26 this year and will pick up the controller once again since Shenmue 2 to play Shenmue 3 if and when it comes out. This video made me tear up lol i had great memories playing Shenmue and so glad that a Shenmue 3 is now in the works. Thank you for this video! Cheers ~
this comment warms my heart bud. Glad to see true fandom when it coems to this series. shenmue 3 is super hyped indeed!!! thanks for watching!
It was one of my fav games too I finished it like 20 times already, it's one of a kind and even to this day no one ever made better
So cool!! Playing everyday all the day! :'D
Mai X Its like I beat the whole game but why do I always feel I left something behind. Good times and memories, I myself can't wait for shenmue 3. I still own Shenmue 2 on Xbox in good condition even though I don't have an Xbox.
Shenmue 1&2 HD for Xbox one:)
Nozomi: I wish time would stand still. I love you Ryo.
Ryo: Yeah...
this vid is fantastic, i was 14 when i did shenmue and its stayed with me. im 30 now and consider it to be the best game ive ever played. your video gave me goosebumps. shame your couldnt race forklifts
thanks for watching!!! i feel the same way. I played the game since day 1 and nothing has ever come close to it :D. i actually havea forklift on the ranch i live on so maybe some day ill do a video with it. have a good one!!!!
Thanks for the video. I only got to play the recent "remaster" and since then I've been fascinated by the game. Mainly because the way it captures the mindset of a people that is so different from my own. This video somehow managed to make me love the series even more. Kudos!
That vending machine is magnificent!
thanks for watching! yeah dude it was surreal seeing the real machines!
This is incredible. I just played through the port of the first Shenmue on my Xbox One. Nostalgia was firing on all cylinders. I still have my Dreamcast copies (and my Dreamcast), and played them both a ton. I was wondering if anyone had done a video like this since I remember hearing back in 2000 that they were based on real places. Awesome videos man.
did you find some sailors around there?
yep actually!
let's celebrate with a game of lucky hit
This comment holds so much nostalgia
I used to live in Japan and I'd often to to Yokosuka to visit my sailor friends. I swear they were good people though! haha.
I don't know why but I totally was on dobuita street but didn't even think about Shenmue at that time. Had i made the connection I would have tried to spend more time finding game landmarks. I definitely remember some of the shops in your video. Stepped inside that Tom and Jack bar before.
I like how after getting your soda out the machine, you moved to the right of the machine and drunk your soda just like Ryo did. So cool bro, it was like experiencing that beautiful city all over again. That's Iconic
Dude I can only imagine what it felt like to be on those streets. It must have felt awesome.😁
Wrong train? Nah, just wanted to show you a little more of the Yokosuka area! :D
haha
Just want to say thanks for the video... I decided to make a trip to yokosuka yesterday and I loved it!!!
That is so amazing! I gotta visit there!!! My childhood!!!!
Pretty cool bro! Living the dream!!! Cool to see another culture
thanks Tyler!
That was cool...even the shop name was Kakita....similar to Kurita...
thans for the translation! and thanks for watching!!
Awesome video! It's neat you added footage from the game. Nice Tom dance moves ☺. It's great you dedicated it to Roger Swan.
thanks! RodgerSwan did a great amount for the community with his footage.
James Reiner Yes he did.
I remember crying while the scene with nozomi back in the days. That was one of the moments, that showed me shenmue is not just a normal game
IT'S A CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE
Absolutely amazing 😊 thank you!
no problem. thanks for watching!
“I see”
Very cool man 😎 nice video
Shenmue will always be a timeless masterpiece to me.
Yu Suzuki and team really created something unique
Thanks for watching! I totally agree :)
This time last year I visited Japan for the first time. I too took a trip to Dobuita Street after wanting to do so for around 20 years. I totally agree that it was somewhat an emotional and surreal experience. Amazing how one game has had such a lasting impact on so many people. Thanks for the upload. Was interesting to see the shrine footage as I never got to see it.
Pretty good video! Your passion for Shenmue is evident, which makes watching the video even heartwarming.
And very funny, that _M.A.G.A_ burger! I'll have to try it if I go to Yokosuka.
thanks!!!! If you need the location of the burger place, pm me on twitter. shenmue is something that means a lot to me, i appreciate the comment :) thanks for watching!
Very awesome dedication. Great video james!
thanks for watching!
I think it's cool that a video game used Yokosuka as the setting. Yokosuka was my first home in Japan many years ago when I was in the Navy. The scenes in the video game were spot on! It warms my heart to learn that Yokosuka is a part of the younger generation's popular culture.
The level of detail is amazing, they did a spot on job recreating Doubita.
the metal shudders on some of those shops in particular really brought me back into the game. The game really does look like this. It must've been so surreal to go there.
This video brought me back to the dreamcast greatness, I don't know why but I kept expecting to see a tornado kick somewhere in here
thanks! lol if i could do it correctly i would :X
It's all about the hotdog dancing
damn right. thanks for watching!
Hi Ryo!! LOL Tom's accent
Great video man!
Thanks for sharing...
no problem bud. thanks for watching!
Great vídeo :) Really liked the fact that you also added footage from the game; and that Tom dance was spot on; if you add a wig it would have been hilarious.
haha thanks! yeah a wig would have been hilarious!
Love it. For a time gave my dreamcast to my daughter but she handed it back when I pinned for this game. Unfortunately she had lost all the discs. Reordered it but was The Japanese version and would not play on my dreamcast. Can't wait to play it again. Have pre ordered it from Amazon can't wait. One of my favourite sayings is to copy lines from Shenmue. I see by the way you hold your self that you are am exponent of the martial arts from your stance I see your style is ju jitsu
i know this video is 3 years old but ya Sukajan aka yokosuka jumpers/ jackets are bomber jackets with the yokosuka style embroidery. it originated from that area. ryo is pretty much wearing a rendition of that. sukajan was popular worldwide for some odd reason like two years ago but in japan its been a staple for a long time.
Hahaha they do not make videos like this anymore, the ammount of love that was put into this is amazing, great video! i liked the part of "lloks like i trained here" hehe
Thank you for your nice comment!
This was really great, best up close view I've seen of Dobuita so far. The Roger Swan mention in the beginning was a nice touch. If they do ever make an HD remake, I'm hoping they can add him as an NPC or some other tribute
I loved the video James! Cannot wait for Ep2!
thanks! Ep2 will take a bit to finish but itll be on the harbor!
Awesome.
Graphics of "Shenmue" were so ahead of its time. It's a shame that the 3rd likely won't be able to catch that magic.
This put smiles on my face.
Excellent video, great work!
thanks Flagship!!! :)
Great Job man! Especially now as the remaster and Shemue III is right on the horizon!
Really amazing thanks for sharing bro! I love Shenmue btw

AWESOME VIDEO MAN. CANT BELIEVE THE SIMILARITIES
I know right!?!? thanks for watching!
The video got even better when you fired up The Pillows
What a great Video! One of the best and revolutionary games ever made!
Thanks for sharing it!!!!
the pillows music really ties this together
Awesome vid. Definitely brings back fond memories. Shenmue is my all time favorite game.
Great footage! Wish you could have taken more, such as the fishshop or bars, or visited an arcade, but I understand you didn't want to be rude! I wonder if the locals even know about the game Shenmue?
Wow, I hope to do this one day, Shenmue was and still a very special game to me and it has one of the best game soundtrack.
👍👍 love the games can’t wait intel the new one
I've been to Japan many times and I've always wanted to do that but actually never did. Thanks for sharing your experience :).
Great Video man! So Cool!
Wow thanks for your video, I swapped my beautiful Dreamcast for the brand new PS2 back then - before Shenmue came out. I regretted the swap for a long long time...playing for the first time on PS4 now.
Haha, nice fun video dude, glad you had a good time!
thanks man!
Just found this very cool love it thanks
hauahauhau Churrasco BR S2!! Nice vídeo :D!!!
thanks for watching!
As a Shenmue fan, I absolutely loved this video. Makes me want to take a prilgrimage to Dobuita too. 👍
There's just over a week to go until the re-release of Shenmue 1 & 2! I haven't played the first one since the Dreamcast, although I revisted the second game on the original Xbox. I'm stoked!
This is awesome
Roger Swan needs to be in the credits of Shenmue 3
That scene with nozomi crying in the park is not actually always scene in the game. You have to be passing there on a certain few days and only at night time. There is also another scene where you fight those 2 bullies that you come across in dubuita as well where you fight them in the park to protect nozomi. There is also a cutscene with QTE in dubuita where you come across a drunk man at night by the tattoo shop where you fight him. I literally have only seen it ONE TIME and it was the first time I ever played the game. I have never been able to figure out what day to make it happen again. But I will always remember it.
Great video thanks! Really enjoyed it. Can't wait for part 2.
Subscribed.
thanks for watching! I'm still figuring out how iwant part 2 to come out xD
This game was everything for me as a kid.
I played it at a time when i didnt have any friends. In a way Ryo was my friend.
I will make this trip to Japan one day
I just replayed Shenmue and saw this vid. Love the "Tom dancing" hahaha :-) I have been in Japan and felt the "smell" of Shenmue in all the way of Kyoto, If I go back I'll perform a location search like you, lucky boy! Great research and incredible vid. Thanks for sharing!
I work in Yokosuka and go by Dobuita every day. I am one of the sailors by the harbor you're looking for to get information on the Mad Angels.
Love the video and love shenmue.
#Yeah
Dude I was there for work a few months ago and I was walking with theme song in my head phones the whole time. Lol
there was something so special about the game.
Brilliant video
This is amazing, i can`t wait for part 2
Great vid James
thanks for watching!
WOW! The people at SEGA did a perfect and good job!! Wii love SEGA!!! 🙂
The Car park! Why didn't you practice the double blow technique the old man taught you? Would have been awesome lol.
When you mentioned the bar, man that gives me the chills I thought you were going to do what Hazuki did at the bar lol.
Video made me think about the 8 hour shifts Ryo had to work! Lol good video man
Shenmue is such a banger, also have you seen a man named Charlie? He wears a black leather jacket and sunglasses.
Great video!
Awesome vid!
Awesome!
Amazing
thanks for watching! glad you enjoyed it!
James Reiner. You welcome pal love shenmue its life.
this is so sick!
the vending machine momnet is always the best ahahahaha
Hi Great job James. Next adventure: the locations in Hong Kong and China!
Dream: They make a remake of Shenmue 1, 2 & 3 that would run on a multi Dreamcast hardware rig. The combination of more than 5 Dreamcast would make it look as good as the current Shenmue 3 graphics:-) or maybe SEGA just launching a Dreamcast 2. God bless, Proverbs 31
Cool stuff!
Amazing bro
i always wanted to goto dobuita!
I recognized the pillows by the drums hahah
Great !
awesome I loved it
thanks for watching!
Dude, this was so good!!!!!!!
That place is beautiful!
Great video! :D Looking forward to the next one! Btw, whats the song in the credits of the video? I tried to look through the whole OST and couldn't find it....
Brilliant video. I'll get threre one day!
