  • Monocentropus balfouri Communal Rehouse - New Colony
    So I have finally done it! After 8 months of preparation and designing I have filled my new balfouri communal enclosure. It isn't with the numbers I would have liked, but money problems have prevented me from purchasing anymore and I really didn't want to risk adding my successful breeding project to the larger juveniles.
    But regardless I am pleased with the outcome and the amount I have added is fine for me. You never know what the future brings however and I may go bugger in the future.
    Once again thanks for coming along and leave a like on the video if you enjoyed it and subscribe if you haven't aready as it would really help me out.

    That looks awesome, it'd be amazing if you could make it bioactive, add springtails, maybe dwarf isopods, and hardy plants, like pothos, and snake plant.

      Thanks. It wouldn't really work with balfouri as they prefer it quite arid and dry so springtails wouldn't survive. I am planning something big for my Therophosa stirmi which would be bio active. Just doing a bit of research on it first and by then it should be big enough to rehouse 🙂

    This setup looks great! I just recently joined the tarantula hobby and got my first tarantula a few weeks ago. Ever since I came across the M balfouris I’ve fallen in love. My goal is to have a big communal setup on display in the house one day. I can’t wait to see how your colony matures!

    How do you feed the communal with mixed sizes of spiders? Do they all eat pre killed and share?

    • @IanTarrantula
      @IanTarrantula  3 года назад

      I have just used a few smaller crickets for the time being and seeing how it goes. I may have to try with a few prekilled but I am still trying to figure it out as this is new to me having different sizes in one enclosure so still tryingto work out what is best. But I will be recording my progress and do an update video in the near future.

    will the smaller ones be eaten by the larger ones, mate?

    • @IanTarrantula
      @IanTarrantula  3 года назад

      There is always that risk. But it has been a few months now and I have seen them all out together. I need to do an update which I will try to get out this week.
