If you watch my newest video about "Königstiger" name, you should not be confused anymore in the future... or even more so :D
Basically, the Tiger I was the Panzer VI Ausf. E, whereas the Tiger II was the Panzer VI Ausf. B, yeah, I knöw, really intuitive ;)

      I love it.
My advice for the overall strategy is to do guderians plan and go all out with the panzers on moscow and be resourceful with a few panzers to try and encircle kiev...even if kiev is a grind and takes time to encircle, you will have a huge advantage to actually take moscow with the extra panzers. After you finally take kiev and complete the encirclement, your panzers around moscow should be close or have already taken the outskirts of moscow, if not moscow outright.
By the time army group south gets to rostov on the don, your center will be super strong compared to the south and you should have leningrad and moscow or at least moscow by christmas.
The concept of this is to exploit your own weakness in the south and what the germans historically were afraid of and welcome a southern russian winter offensive to cross the don and hit your flanks and use that against them to encircle them again.
The key is to take moscow or literally be a hex or two away from taking it when they start their huge southern winter offensive. The reason for this is you want to take moscow before you rush the panzers back down south to be like a guillotine slicing off the head of their southern offensive.
Make your defense to allow a bulge of the russians and draw them into the south to stalino and even as far as kharkov. The more russian units drawn in, the more that will be encircled.
So when your panzers finally make it down there, this bulge should have a million or more russians in it and that is when you have 2k tanks or more strike down from the north right behind all that and go straight down to rostov cutting the entire thing off.
This second, more grand encirclement at the expense of one at kiev will have major implications for the russians at stalingrad and the thrust toward grozny and baku. The summer of 42' will be brutal for them without a million men that they would have had otherwise during that time.
Good luck! Exploit your own weakness against the enemy.

i believe they are setting up for what if scenario's like what if rommel got to cairo...and you go from there with afrika korps going into iraq...and/or invasion from caucusus and turkey into iran/iraq.
There may even be a 45 what if scenario with ww3 and russia invading the middle east and going into africa and into western europe.
Also...this map could just be the same one they'll use for war in the west...and use it for a sealion invasion scenario and do a lot more ground aspects in war in the west.

Wow, a new version of the greatest wargame of all time, covering the greatest campaign of all time! As one who purchased WitE one at release & played many Barbarossa campaigns (as well as many smaller scenarios), I've certainly followed this project with interest for some years. At first blush, it feels like the supply & air combat systems (continuations of new features seen first in WitW) are the biggest changes. Of course, through the years, there were countless OB tweaks & adjustments to every subsystem by the maintainers of WitE1.
I'm excited, I'm patient, but I have to say, I want more. For me, the dream has always been a grand, unified sim of the war unifying War in the East, War in the West, & War in the Pacific. I know I'm not the first to have had this dream, or the first to articulate it. While the great genius GG is a man of few words, istr that Joel commented on this idea in some fashion in the forums. We'll get this no time soon, if ever.
Gary is not a young man anymore, and WitE2 is maybe about his 5th take on the Ostfeldzug, counting WitE (2010), War in Russia (1993), Second Front: Germany Turns East (1990), & War in Russia (1984). The combat calculus, supply system & representations of units, equipment & chains of command are about as good as it gets. I hope that WitE2 is a great "last hurrah", but I feel that 2x3 Games must start casting its eye upon the horizon, & preparing these systems for posterity. The development team has to expand, possibly in crowd-sourced, community-driven, or even open-source directions. The scope of the project has to broaden beyond 2x3, both to quicken the development cycle as well as to realise the great destiny embedded within the "good genes" of these brilliantly-conceived, painstakingly-handcrafted & diligently-reforged systems & subsystems.
Gary's game is the greatest: greater even than him. After WitE2, it's time for 2x3 to launch that great campaign into the future, & to enlist the capable & willing (of whom there are many) in furtherance of the great objective. Many hands make light work. Thank you all, & godspeed. We await your further leadership. o/

A question about the historical situation. Knowing what the fuel situation was for Germany at the beginning of operation barbarossa, namely a reserve for no more then 4 months of operations on the east front, is this correctly represented in the game or do we have a made up value for play balance ?

ARGH! Why do interface designers keep making this same mistake?!? When it comes to presenting numbers, there are one absolutely ESSENTIAL rule:
    RIGHT-ALIGN columns of numbers.
Right-aligning columns of numbers make is VASTLY easier to intuitively compare the relative values of the numbers, since for each number the 'ones' digits all line up, the 'tens' digits all line up, the 'hundreds' digits all line up, etc. If numbers are left-aligned, it becomes much harder to quickly gauge the relative values since the 'hundreds' digit might under a 'tens' digit of another number, and so on. The numbers become a jumbled mess.
Look at the screen example at 12:56 of the video. That list of personnel numbers at the airbases in the left pane is much harder to intuitively compare than it need be because the numbers are left-aligned. Or the numbers of reserve forces and total forces in the right pane.
Even worse, look at the screen at 30:18 of the video. All the numerical columns are much harder to read and compare because the numbers are all aligned to the left. In any game where you are going to spend a lot of time comparing and analyzing numbers, being able to read and compare them intuitively and clearly is hugely important. (I notice there's no thousands separator on the numbers either. That's another legibility issue.)
Why do so many game interfaces keep left-aligning columns of numbers? RIGHT-ALIGN columns of numbers. This is basic typography and legibility.
The ONLY exception would be if some of the numbers contain decimal values, in which case the column should be aligned on the decimal point.
Sorry to pick on this (small) point, but seeing interfaces constantly left-aligning columns of numbers just bugs the hell out of me.

That‘s not even the worst part. It‘s a complete mess. If you like looking at boring Spreadsheets all day, fine, but why not try to present information in a more interesting way? We‘re not in the nineties anymore. You can draw anything on the screen with modern graphics API and tables with tiny text is the best you can do? Geez... I‘m not talking about less information, it just needs better presentation.

    • @primmakinsofis614
      @primmakinsofis614 3 года назад

@@QuantumComposer Oh, I know. But Gary Grisby games are (in)famous for having, shall we say, eccentric, interfaces. ;)
The left-aligned columns of numbers I see in many places. It's somewhat better when numerical columns are center-aligned, but even that is still less than optimal.
