I'm gonna try something like this for my local chain pickerel. I never targeted them on the fly, but next weekend, we're going camping at a state park. The lake there is loaded with pickerel!

One time I grew part of my hair long over the winter and I tied a bunch of flies and treble hooks with my own hair. I gave a bunch to people from work and the biggest fish was about a thirty inch northern on a spinner bait.
I never used a whip finisher just tied the thread in a knot a couple times and glued it. Your way is much better looking.
My dad also caught some trout ice fishing with some hair jig flies I made without using my hair.

Also I have not finished the video yet....but is that colored glue in those three tubes?

Lol that’s a crazy story! I should’ve specified the 3 glue in the video. They are all clear but just have different thickness. The blue one that I used is the thin one. It works great. Thanks for watching!

Be careful with Solarez. Some people are extremely allergic to it like myself. Turned my face into a giant oozing blister. Can’t imagine what it does inside. Tried to find someone to hold accountable and there’s no clear contact available.
    Good vid

Hard as nails finger nail polish works just as well and a lot cheaper

After the fly is done, do you trim the hair at the end of the fly to make it even? Does it matter if it's uneven?

It doesn’t really matter. I actually prefer when it’s uneven because it looks more natural. You just don’t want it too long.

How are you rigging & jigging this fly?

I have a few white bass videos using the flies. In Wisconsin, it’s called the wolf river rig. I don’t know the original terminology.

@@OutdoorSensei yeah I was down their last weekend and we only caught about 13 fish. Usually we get a lot more.

You need to whip tie the threads at least 5 revolution to keep the threads from loosening

With the UV glue on the threads are very secure. I’ve done it before without tying a knot and just glue the threads. It’ll get the job done.

Sorry, I don’t sell. I only make enough for me to use each season. Too time consuming 😂
